Title: Session length and stop/loss criteria. Live and online. Post by: AlexMartin on May 14, 2008, 02:10:57 PM Id like to ask the full time long term players if they have ever used a predefined session length before sitting down, regardless of how good/bad the game is.
Also, have they found stop/loss limits useful? Title: Re: Session length and stop/loss criteria. Live and online. Post by: bolt pp on May 14, 2008, 05:16:28 PM Id like to ask the full time long term players if they have ever used a predefined session length before sitting down 4 hours, I came up with that ages ago and it seemed to stick for me. That's the minimum amount of uninterrupted time i need to sit down and start a session, sometimes i might stop after 2-3 hours and other times I'll play for 8 hours+ but if it's 1pm and Ive got to go out at 4pm i dont feel comfortable knowing i can only put in 2 1/2 hour session and will just not bother and do an evening session instead. It doesn't really mean anything practically for me in terms of hours per week or calculating ROI it's just a mental thing, i noticed that if i was constrained by time in a session and was pushing too hard to compensate i didnt play as well. If the game is good stay if its bad leave, WTF, your gonna leave a game full of donators just because you said you were having a four hour session. meh

"Thats the MINIMUM amount of uninterrupted time i need to sit down and start a session" not only do i say how it's more of a mental guide for the MINIMUM amount of time in which i feel comfortable playing a full session but elude to going on to play for far longer other than the 4 hours bit did you read any of the post? Title: Re: Session length and stop/loss criteria. Live and online. Post by: Longy on May 14, 2008, 07:42:26 PM I will happily admit I have terrible work ethic, so your best not listening to me.
I normally just fit my sessions round what errands/meeting up with friends I have on a certain day. I normally play 2/3 sessions a day when I am in routine all of which are 1.5-3 hours. I really im not good at playing long sessions, my game just seems to completely go and i can get very frustrated. Regarding stop losses, im more likely to grind it out when Im losing than when im winning as I feel the need to get back what I have lost, which is really backward thinking but I can't get passed it.
