A quick question If I may .

At my home game last night we had a hand where seat 3 had raised with a stiff raise pre flop. It then folds round to seat seven who thinks for a short period and then re-raises for the same amount making it a large pot It then folds round to seat three who says "Ok call" and pushes his chips in and then turns his cards over .... General uproar as seat seven was not all in. He (seat three)quickly turns his cards back over covering tham up ... I didn't see them but everyone else as good as did .Then everyone looks to me for a ruling ..... As its my game and I'm grate..as any fule kno...
heres what I came up with ... They were allowed to play the hand (other player agreed)...But in future turning your cards over during the hand would result in the forfeiture of your participation in that hand.... Was I right or is there another way of dealing with this ???

There are no correct answers to this, & no wrong ones either. Because every Casino has a different rule for this eventuality.

You may well ask yourself, why it is that the Casinos make the rules? Well they have to, because we poker players have not had the wit & foresight to organise a governing body. (And that's NOT a players Union). And thus there is no coherence or consistency to our rules.

So the answer to your question is, "it just depends where you ask it".

I tend to use Roberts Rules of Poker, ( can get it from http://www.homepokertourney.com ) but the ruling is quite clear there. All in, is all in is all in. If he still had chips left, he loses them, either to the other player if the next hand hasnt started or they are removed from the table if the next hand has already begun before he 'discovers' them.

TDA rules are that his cards are still in the pot, however he cannot bet out , but he can call a bet
Which in fairness seems harsh but as his cards were revealed to the other person, it just gave the other person more information on the hand.

Question was did he win the hand???

And the answer is ... Yes he did win the Hand..... the Poker Gods smiled on him and gave him Trips on the flop...The other player checked and he bet and the rest was history .......
