Title: PLO hand
Post by: Hairydude on May 18, 2008, 11:45:12 PM
I rarely play PLO as I find it so frustrating and cant handle the swings(plus i'm not very good  ;)  ) but obviously I know this hand below might involved 50p somewhere along the way- but is this standard play or is this guy just a muppet- he's constantly raising and seems to be hitting everything

I know he has both straight and flush draw so was it basically inevitable we'd all be in on flop???

Let's get one thing out of the way first, you should fold pre flop..you have an awful hand and shouldn't be calling raises with that (or even limping with it).

If I find myself with a FD and straight draw against 2 people who hold a set without a redraw my money does indeed go flying in.

Played fine. If you fold preflop i suggest you wait for aces and go broke 90% of the time. (Which is what 90% of omaha rocks do)

Let me guess, you only play high double suited pairs and double suited connectors?

Fuck me, i've read you already and i haven't ever seen you play a hand!

Huh??? I was laughing at the notion that you suggest people should fold everything but AAxx in Omaha. How can me laughing at what I see as an attempt by humour lead you to respond as you have?

LOL I was an Omaha Rock when I played the game like holdem. Thinking hands like TT52 and AT74 rainbow were great hands and then I wondered why I went broke so many times.

So no not taking the pish :D

TT52 is the nuts. At74 not so good, but still playable ;)

TT52 is the 2nd nuts behind the best hand I've ever seen go all in on Omaha table - someone push in a stack with four 9s as hole cards. Stormed off and said he lost with quads lmao

lol It's not this much of a post-flop game. This is a horrible, horrible hand and should be folded pre-flop..it really should...it's a massive leak if you call raises with a hand like this.

Seriously though calling for $1.15 with a $25 stack on the button in 6 max plo is fine.

And once you've hit that flop there's no escape.

Only people with big calculators could tell you otherwise  ;D

only way you can make this call pre is if you have your oppo on an over pair and not likely to fold if you hit

i think its a terrible call pre

against likely raising hands your not in great shape against any hand that will play the flop with you

You don't have to make the best hand to win the pot.

Like I said I'm not a great PLO player but I knew it wasnt a great starting hand, but like I said this guy was raising almost every hand, so I thought what the heck i'll take a shot with my jacks then postflop my decision should be pretty easy- good chance of winning a large pot $50+ or lose a small one $1.15- I know this might not be the best way to think at PLO, but it gets frustrating waiting for a dynamite hand when somebody is constantly raising, plus he would often call a reraise but fold to a large reraise so I'm not going to make much out of him waiting on the goods. No way I'd play any higher than this level though as i'm not even competent at this level- its a fun game to play tho I think i'd go broke pretty quick if I played it regularly- think I might start at the microstakes on FT as it is fun
