You are on an island in the middle of a lake. The lake is in a remote part of the country and there has never been a bridge connecting the island to the mainland. Every day a tractor and wagon gives hay rides around the island. Puzzled as to how the tractor had gotten onto the island, you ask around and find out that the tractor was not transported to the island by boat or by air. Nor was it built on the island. Explain how the tractor got there? Title: Re: Daft Riddles? Title: Re: Daft Riddles? Post by: millidonk on April 27, 2012, 04:18:18 PM Each week my company magazine has a load of riddles in it. If anyone is bored like me here you go:
1. A murderer is condemned to death. He has to choose between three rooms. The first is full of raging fires, the second is full of assassins with loaded guns, and the third is full of lions that haven't eaten in a year. Which room is safest for him? 2. A woman shoots her husband. Then she holds him under water for over 5 minutes. Finally, she hangs him. But 5 minutes later they both go out together and enjoy a wonderful dinner together. How can this be? 3. What is black when you buy it, red when you use it, and gray when you throw it away ? 4. Can you name three consecutive days without using the words Wednesday, Friday, or Sunday? 5. This is an unusual paragraph. I'm curious as to just how quickly you can find out what is so unusual about it. It looks so ordinary and plain that you would think nothing was wrong with it. In fact, nothing is wrong with it! It is highly unusual though. Study it and think about it, but you still may not find anything odd. But if you work at it a bit, you might find out. Try to do so without any coaching Title: Re: Daft Riddles? Post by: Claw75 on April 27, 2012, 04:30:54 PM first four are pretty obv imo.
i don't understand the last one - should there be a photo? (edit - duh, that would be because i read 'paragraph' as 'photograph' first time round!) that one's gonna take some thinking. 2nd edit: gottit Title: Re: Daft Riddles? 1. Which Disney movie is the misfit? Hercules The Lion King Beauty and the Beast The Jungle Book The Aristocats Pocahontas Peter Pan The Little Mermaid Bambi 2. If you like pretty gems that sparkle and shine, I invite you to dig in my virtual mine. My first is purple, fit for a king, My second is green where Dorothy did her thing. My third is red, July's birthstone as well, My fourth is seen in strings and is found inside a shell. My fifth is hard, pure Carbon and expensive to buy, My sixth is Crocidolite, striped like the big cat's eye. Seventh is two words, a man-made fake of April's stone, Eighth is very dark and found at Lightning Ridge alone. Now take from each gem, one letter in its turn, And you will find the stuff for which even the gods yearn. 3. Assuming you can't steal an animal's sense of hearing, or use an electrical device, what would you need in order to hear a pin drop from over 20 yards? Not a fan of the answer for no 3, but meh. Hmm, no 2 must be Ambrosia, given the final clue and getting some of the gems. 1 could be a couple of things - Pocahontas is the only one based on a true story as opposed to a fairy tale. Lion King is the only one which has no humans in it at any point (I think). Title: Re: Daft Riddles? Post by: millidonk on August 10, 2012, 09:55:32 AM Rex wins. 3 is, ironically, lateral thinking: it might be being dropped from over 20 yards in the air, in which case, the answer is gravity and a moderately percussive surface. Alternatively, I suppose, the answer is "you can't", on the basis that you hear the pin LAND, rather than drop. Is either the answer on the card? Title: Re: Daft Riddles? Away the darkness runs from me Just so that you may see. By nature and by man I am made. Call me and I'll come to your aid. Even though you may try so much You'll never touch. I am faster than a speeding train, Faster than any plane. So who may I be? You'll just have to guess and see. 3. I wear the face of a leader of men. My financial worth is small and my appearance not impressive, yet my presence is a passport to any country and society. I have the entree alike to the boudoir and the armed; I penetrate to royal palaces and to the far corners of the earth. In my youth I am bright and fresh looking; later, my face is marred and disfigured and I am cast aside as nothing; but when I am very old I am eagerly sought, and a safe refuge is provided for me, where I am exhibited to admiring visitors.
