yes - always.  And white bread.  Bacon sarnie on brown bread just wrong!

The other half (who is a veggie to be fair) thinks putting butter on it makes something disgusting even more disusting!!!

Personally white bread without butter, with red sauce and some nice mature cheddar melting in there.

I prefer using buttered toast and ketchup for my bacon sarnies.

If you have to mess around with yer basic bacon sandwich, try this.

Crispy smoked bacon
Thin cut raw white onion
English mustard
Light toasted white bread... buttered!

Doorstep thick cut from a fresh loaf ... butter spread thickly, dollop of ketchup ... perfect.

Thick white bread, BUTTER, and bacon.. Cut in half to create two triangles. 4 slices pls. No sauce, ever.

4 slices of toasted bread with lurpak butter is a must 4 pieces of bacon red sauce on 1 brown on the other (houses of parliament brown of course) then your set up 4 the day this is my sat food every week.

We call them Bacon Butties for a reason.

Not a fan of butter on it.  Has to be laced with brown sauce though.  Bacon sarn + ketchup is very wrong.

I have soggy bacon, thick crusty bread and loads of butter and tommy ketchup, pack of plain crisps and a mug of tea.

I think we need to be clear on this. Liz - H.M The Queen Liz, that is - has butter on alll & any sarnies, & it's deemed common not to have butter on sandwiches.

Please listen properly Rich, this is an important matter of etiquette & correct behaviour. One has Butter on ALL sandwiches.

Bacon sandwich must have butter, but never tomato sauce.

Sausage sandwich must have tomato sauce, but not butter.

Butter and tomato sauce should never be on the same food.

Brown sauce is the devil's work.

Always always always butter. The bacon must be straight from the grill thus melting the butter.

Finally apply the HP brown sauce (the proper stuff and not that fruity nonsense).
