Title: Was pushing the wrong idea?
Post by: Newmanseye on May 26, 2008, 08:48:27 PM
I am sitting with about $16 in front and the average around the table is $25 or there abouts.  Its been a fairly solid table with Pete IQ making a few moved from position with filth.

I think i overplayed this with a push, whats your take & what would you have done differently.

I am in the big blind, Pete IQ is in the small blind.

There was a raise to $0.80  called by 2 people before it got to me, I re pop it to $2.60, all 3 call.

Pete IQ makes it $5.80 on the flop, I pushed, all others fold & peteIQ calls.

I'm a bit confused here - what are you thinking you should have done other than pushing?  Making a smaller raise or flat calling to milk more out of Pete?

I probably would have flat called the flop bet, and made a small raise to a bet on the turn.  I'm not getting away from it though.

Claire I am really unsure, the "old me " would have just shoved took the other guy having a set on th echin and walked away, but i have little confidence in my game & its been like that for a while, I was just wondering if there was another or a better way to play it.

Call flop, you want to roll around in that equity :)

More preflop imo, make it about $3.5-4, you are giving them far too big odds to hit and more importantly not getting value from your hand.

Postflop is fine you have a monster and shoving is easily the best play. Just a cooler.
