Title: PDF's Post by: Dingdell on May 28, 2008, 02:18:31 PM Hi - how does one make a pdf please? I want to email stuff to clients in pdf form so it can't be changed at their end. No idea where to start.
Thanks. :)up Title: Re: PDF's Post by: Jon MW on May 28, 2008, 02:22:13 PM This software has a PDF creation facility http://www.openoffice.org/ (http://www.openoffice.org/) and it's free.

Sandy Title: Re: PDF's Post by: Bongo on May 28, 2008, 02:28:27 PM PDFs can still be changed.
Title: Re: PDF's Post by: Jon MW on May 28, 2008, 02:35:15 PM PDFs can still be changed. Is that if you pay for the full Adobe kit or is their a cheap way of doing it? http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_PDF_software List will probably help Dingdell too, or something like this which allows you to print to PDF: http://sourceforge.net/projects/pdfcreator/ Title: Re: PDF's Post by: kinboshi on May 28, 2008, 02:41:46 PM For full flexibility in terms of controlling how the file is output to PDF, Adobe Acrobat is probably the best - but I've never used Open Office so I don't know how sophisticated it is.
Title: Re: PDF's Post by: Bongo on May 28, 2008, 02:43:17 PM But you could protect a different document type :p Title: Re: PDF's Post by: Bongo on May 28, 2008, 02:44:11 PM For full flexibility in terms of controlling how the file is output to PDF, Adobe Acrobat is probably the best - but I've never used Open Office so I don't know how sophisticated it is. I've only ever created PDFs using PHP, so I can't really comment on any of the software ;marks; Title: Re: PDF's Post by: kinboshi on May 28, 2008, 02:48:08 PM But you could protect a different document type :p You can, but it won't be universally readable or accessible. Title: Re: PDF's Post by: Graham C on May 28, 2008, 03:00:21 PM You may be able to create a pdf by going to Print then choosing Acrobat as a printer option. All our pc's have this option, but I'm not sure if some of the software we have installed enables it. I doubt it though as one is a real old dog with nothing special on.

Title: Re: PDF's Post by: Snatiramas on May 28, 2008, 03:13:29 PM A long time ago there was a true story about a young man on the Compaq support line. He had a phone call from a customer who could not get their machine working.......having spent some time trying to rectify the fault the young man very politely asked the customer "Have you checked the socket in the wall to ensure that it is on?". After some scrabbling about the customer said "It is now". At this point the young man having ensure the computer was now working asked the customer the following
"Could you now unplug it and put it back into the box exactly as you found it as you seem to have a problem with it" "What is that?" said the customer "You are not ready to own one" He was of course sacked Title: Re: PDF's Post by: Longines on May 28, 2008, 03:50:00 PM http://www.primopdf.com
