Double for me sat and sun night, room only :)

Only me, but you never know I might pull <gg>

Seriously - from my experience of booking hotel rooms for conferences, if you can push for a double even if it is just you - go for it, singles are generally uncatswingable.

Ta :)

I'd rather stay somewhere where everyone could stay :)

Maureen you would be surprised... I organise conferences, and we have a few delegates that are wheelchair users, some places are awful.

Theres plenty of hotels on broads street, should imagine they will be wheelchair accessible.

Title: Re: Blonde-Bash Birmingham Hotels
Post by: dik9 on November 06, 2005, 10:57:27 PM
OK at the moment I got the marriott 5 ways at £110 a double £90 single, wheelchair friendly £110, swimming pool etc. PER NIGHT. But I cannot arrange a discount till the morning. Same with the Hyatt, and the Novotel the travelodge says they are wheelchair friendly but they have 3 steps outside. Lots of more options to try but I am sick of talking to night porters. So 2 moro will fill you in.

the travelodge says they are wheelchair friendly but they have 3 steps outside.

hotels are unbelievable - how can it be wheelchair friendly with steps???  Do they provide a full time healer who is so good they enable the wheelchair users to get out and walk?

I suggest you all turn up in chairs and see what they do then  :tikay:

I really want to go to this do - now that you've all arranged it and agreed it among yourselves could you change the date?? :D

Hi tracy and all,
Yes its amazing what we have to face in "So called" wheelchair accessable places, steps, entry via the kitchen, trapped behind fire doors till someone t  urns up to open it,impossible toilets, etc

The government gets away with such wooly ledgistation cos they know that we'll keep quiet.
Even now I feel i'm moaning whilst i'm writting this;thats what enables them to get away with it.

The new disability access law has no teeth, and after a flurry of atempts to comply most companies seem to have given up on adartions to comply with the sptit of the bill.

Hay Iron, fancy a Hu game on the entrance to the hotal.

So heres the deal

Birmingham Marriott

£80 per night (double, twin or single) Room Only (no single person suppliment)

Swimming Pool and wheelchair facilities.

To save costs, if you are on your own you can double up to half the cost and start a rumour thread. :D

I will receive a booking code tomorrow which will be posted here along with telephone number to book.

I know the car park is quite expensive ( I think its £11 a night) but if its left over night at the casinos (SAFE) car park then we will pick up that charge. The Marriott is about 200yds away from the Casino.

For the staff!!! Do you fancy dealing? lol.

The booking code has been sent by post apparently and I am off sick till Monday, so I will post it then. I stopped the discount at the STRATHALLAN as I thought everyone wanted to stay in the same hotel.

The discount is for the Marriott only, however I will post Strathallans number if £80 is too steep, still recommend a twin and share for £40 a night.

The strath should come in about £60 a night approx but no swimming pool and no wheelchair access.

Iron , my daughter shares a house, student type place, full of beer, undies on the heaters mouldy beans in fridge, big ugly hairy boys in all the rooms etc, in the Egbaston area of Sladeland.
But she and her housemates, need feeding sometimes. so when they heard there was a buffet plus loads of poker players in town, they had to come.

Incredibly, Mrs Sheriff, is coming too!  The question is whether the Blondites will have more success than the Card Player Cruises contingent in actually getting her to sit at a table!

However, this is undoubtedly another sign of progress!

I'm also Marriot bound, it will be great to put names to faces, should warm up a january weekend.

By the way Dewi "Tammi " is having her last run of the season at Lingfield last race Sat, She came back so well from wolverhampton that we're desperate to get another run  out of her.
the race is only 6 fls not her distance, but we need to pay for the winter hay. theres about 70 entries for the race but the powers at lingfield should split the race.

I know its early but can i be the first to wish everone on Blonde a happy and peaceful christmas

as the Blonde bash is getting closer , can we try and get answers to the following.

what is the availability on rooms at both suggested hotels.

Can we try and organise somewhere for a meal .. (indian/chinese or whatever) for those that are gonna be there on the friday night.  If there is enough demand.

When I win the comp, will i be paid in cash ;)

There will definitely by rooms mate but the special rate deal ended yesterday, if you're persuasive though you may still get the rate.

Title: Re: Blonde-Bash Birmingham Hotels
Post by: Robert HM on December 16, 2005, 12:46:44 PM
The special rate at the Marriot was £80 per night per room, now it is still £80 for a single occupant but £90 for a shared room. Not too much difference.

Im not sure Mr F....i did try to put the promo code from the front of this thread in, but it didnt like it so I gave up.

Ive booked for the Saturday and Sunday...no breakfast (cos they prob dont serve it at midday)

£34.00 per night for a single.

Doubles start at £39.00 a night but book on the web site as this is cheaper than calling them direct.

Hope this helps   :)

If anyone is interested and still needs to book Marriot have just mailed me a promo code for staying in the Birmingham marriot this weekend...

When reserving online, please include MEB in the corporate/promotional box. To reserve by phone, call 0800 221 222 and ask for Marriott eBreaks. Or, call one of our worldwide reservation centres.

It can be used by anyone.  Rate is 64 plus VAT per room /night

£64 + vat = £75.20

Don't know how you got charged £90 unless it was after the date, I had a few problems with the thistle not having anyone booked in reserved rooms, but upon enquires no one used the code just quoted Broadway and was given a discounted rate but not one of the reserved rooms.

Still £75.20 makes me wonder what all the effort was about first, I feel like i have been done now and i haven't even got a room!

£80 was what they said
