Title: The Oaks
Post by: vegaslover on June 02, 2008, 09:45:02 PM
Ok guys i'm going to the Oaks on Friday but haven't followed racing at all the past 6 months.
Anyone got any horses they can see giving a big run/worth punting on?

The Oaks itself is a tricky (if not almost weak) race and I reckon Lush Lashes and Chinese White could well dominate...there's not much in the way of quality in the race this year frm the looks of it.

Don't panic (1.40) should win the first ..his second to Cesare is a top effort. Don't know what price he'll be though.
I love Escape Route in the 2.45 i think this is a wonderful little horse and on his best days he'd carry these home..he should start fullfilling his true potential soon though as he's not done that yet.
Classic Descent is looking good for the last.

Those would probaby be my three bets if I was going to the meeting.

Now I can just sit and wait for Horneris to show up and tip 3 40-1 shots that my horses can finish 2nd to.

Aiden Obrien has down the years run some good Oaks performers in the Irish 1000 gns,at the prices I think Kitty Matcham and Savethisdanceforme (both over 70 on BF at the mo) could be worth a speculative punt if they run as they are both bred to improve a lot over the Oaks trip.

O'Brien will probably have a runner sneak into a place..that will then go and hack up in the Irish Oaks and dominate all the group 1's for the rest fo the year.

Not sure whats going to win this yet, my only involvement so far is a small Each Way bet on Tiffany Diamond @ 50/1.
Michita looks decent @ 12/1 but ill look into it further and discuss it again on Friday morning.

Andre Fabre thinks the world of this horse.and he knows his stuff...The horse probably should win this race to be honest..there isn't an awful lot in here...but I don't like it as a betting proposition at evens.

Well as you probably saw, expectant winners didn't materialise today. I didn't back a winner but had a couple of place bets so only finished £20 down on the day.
It's fair to say the bookies had a very good day today, hardly any shouting/cheering for the winners.
