Title: So if I really enjoyed....
Post by: TightEnd on June 17, 2008, 05:17:21 PM
Dexter, which I did

Heroes, Prison Break, House, SixFeet Under, Damages, Californication etc etc, which I did...all seen start to finish

Which US series, as yet unseen in the UK..should I look to download?

or has the writer's strike let to a hiatus in good stuff from the States?

Thanks

Maybe use the opportunity to get out more?

If not, I believe they just finished season 4 of the US Office, which im ashamed to say, is brilliant.

Pushing daisies

was this any good then? watched ep 1 which I thought was ok and then just little bits after, just seemed to be pretty much the same story each time. might've been 'cos I didn't watch another full episode though

Even though it's not unseen here, if you've not seen it, the new Battlestar Galactica is a must (currently on series 4). I watched the mid-season finale last night and it was jaw-droppingly good - such a shame that the last half of the series (the final one) won't be on till next year.

Pushing Daisies is excellent.

The writer's strike did mess a lot of shows up, curtailing seasons and mucking up plotlines. Because of the rise of torrenting, we do actually get new US shows pretty sharpish now - the TV stations want to show them before their audience has already watched them on their computers.

That goes both ways Tikay. There are some amazing things on TV that you miss. You should watch a little more.

By the way I bought you a DVD yesterday I know you will be bored when you get to Vegas.

I made it through 30 minutes of this God-awful vehicle of a show..astonishingly over hyped and very poor indeed.

Wasn't a fan either, my missus likes it though.

The Wire is good, only seen a bit of it so far but looks good so far.  The Cell is supposed to be good.

I take it you've seen all Spooks?  Can't beat British drama

This is another very good one, and very true with regards to lovejoy too lol.

Apparently there was a spin off show for Rome, but it was either never made or I've just never managed to find it.

Worth watching again :D

Didn't like Deadwood, for me, and this is going to sound wierd, but there's far to much swearing in it, it's unbelievable the amount of bad language in it.  I found it wierd that it was too much for me too.

If you want to get ahead of the game with the forthcoming US shows, then this is the time of year that the pilot episodes of autumn series get 'accidentally leaked' on the internet (so the studios get an early idea of what the audience might like).

Shows such as Fringe (from the guy who did Lost), True Blood (from the guy who did Six Feet Under) and The Middleman (based on some Men-in-Black style comic book).

No idea what any of them are like, but then, that would destroy the thrill of discovering something new if I was able to tell you what was good and what wasn't.

Available from your favourite torrent sites.

Seen Fringe, looks promising, xfiles type about fringe science, reanimation, telepathy etc.

2 and a half men is the best sitcom by miles and it just gets better.

Burn Notice is very good, looking forward to series2

You might like Huff, solid show about a psychiatrist.

Eureka i loved, quirky.

Bones is about a forensic scientist teamed with an FBI agent solving gruesome deaths.

Raines i really liked with Jeff Goldblum but it only lasted 6 or 7 eps, very good.

Monk obv.

Life is about a buddist ex con copper, i like it.

Supernatural, Dirty Sexy Money and Shark all worth  look.

Hard to say if you would like it, it might be a little 'light' for you. But, it's well made and enjoyable with some very funny moments.

Hill Street Blues. All 7 series are available on the C4 on demand website. This was he first series where quality writing and acting were as important as the story.
