Title: Cristano Ronaldo
Post by: Horneris on June 22, 2008, 12:02:05 PM
The betting has shifted in favour of Real Madrid for "Ronaldo's Club on September 1st" for the first time.

Real Madrid 1/2
Man Utd 6/4

Gona be so amazing if he leaves.

Someone said yesterday 55 mill + snider.. Not read anything anywhere, but I would take that so quick if i was a manure supporter.

I heard similar, a little less cash plus sneijder. Also rumours of Robinho being added too.

Fergies not stupid hes saw it all before, he probably knows he has already lost ronaldo.  I think Man u are playing the papers to get the best offer possible, would like to see that arshavin take his place.

They can have MCGeady for £30 million and we can take Arshavin for £20 mill and stick in the other fella that scored last night for £10 mill

You have as much chance signing Ronaldo, then signing Arshavin.

Thanks for the goalie.

I'd love it if Fergie kept onto him out of spite and kept him on the bench, I hate how players these days can call the shots like this.

As a funny little aside and nod to another thread, my mate went to portugal and met a tour guide whose brother played in a youth team with Ronaldo, and apparantly he used to steal stuff from the locker room and was a bit of a git.

FACT!

no amount of money is going to replace ronaldo,s goals and assits and the reports are saying big phil has given him advice on the lines of he may never get the chance to join them again(wonder why he,s so keen for him to go) but that arshavin looks as good a replacement as any (hopefully liverpool snap him up tho)

It's quite funny some of the things I've heard some Man U fans come out with recently. The best ones I've heard are "how could the player do this to us after all we've done for him?" (LOL!) "why would anyone want to leave Man U for Real Madrid?" and my personal favourite "Real Madrid have acted like scumbags trying to get Ronaldo like this!" (How ironic).

I guess some Man U fans just dont like the idea of a bigger fish.

If he goes it'll be good to see if Wayne Rooney can step up - for me he's been geting carried, in terms of his output, by the likes of Ronaldo.

How can he stay now?  He's had a month to say ''i'm staying'', but refused to comment consistently, even if he stays now it'll sound half-hearted...

They can have the choice but should honour contracts they enter. They are getting the best of both worlds at the moment.

And rightly so. In every field of work you can offer your services to other firms. In football you couldnt even leave a club easily until Bosman happened.

I do think the amount of money a footballer earns is ridiculous, but the restriction on their job hunting or putting themselves out there is also daft. It wouldn't be acceptable in any other walk of life.

Footballer's deserve what they are paid.

They have been training for their profession since they were young (3 years +). So many others fail and the selection process is huge.

Thats not exactly true. In high value fields all employment contracts would have relative notice periods - like Directors of twelve months, which restricts offering services.

Also there is a huge difference created by the vast majority of employment contracts not being short term fixed length contracts like footballers are.

Being in a position to answer this was the tag line that my college used to draw me in to take A-level economics and subsequent degree economics. I still never made a conclusion.

They can basically be paid ridiculous money because footballs fans paying through the nose to watch it. They hold such rare skills like Nem says that means they can get such a high salary. However the % of money that clubs spend on wages makes the whole thing completely flawed. Football is imo in great danger of imploding on itself in a few years - without the support of a small number of individuals financing the whole thing.

The fact that footballers have short term fixed length contracts shouldn't detract from a basic human right to seek better employment if they so wish. No matter what they earn.

I agree to an extent. Footballers are on about the correct % of the money that is in the football economy. I'd rather it went to them than the fat cats that is for sure.

I still think there is too much money in the game though and I dont like having to pay through the nose to watch it.

Well we definately disagree on this.

If Ashley Cole had taken his case (when he met Chelsea staff in a hotel room) to the European court had the EPL punished him severly enough for the meeting, we would have found out which way the EU would have ruled. Personally I think they'd have ruled in his favour. Ahh well, it'll happen someday. :)

I mentioned this to the Mrs yesterday..Schneijder + cash for Ronaldo ..it's a stupid deal. I would snap that up in a second if I were Sir Alex.Schneijder is just the sort of player ManU could do with with scholes getting on a bit and there not being  truly top class performer out there to replace him..

Robinho being added would make the deal stupid.

Can't  believe i'm going to agree with nem but he's right footballer's do deserve what they're paid i would say more so due to how much money they make there employees. How much money has ronaldo' goals this season made manu i wouldn't like to estimate but it will be crazy amount of money.

Ramos will be part of the deal.
Perfect replacement for G.Nev.
I guess either Schneijder or Robinho will go too.
I'd rather have Robinho as he looks class when playing wide.

Man Utd won't suffer too much, they still have an amazing team and other players will step up.

Anderson was voted best young player at the U21 world cup ahead of Dos Santos.  So he is obviously a decent prospect.
