Title: NLHE What would you do ?
Post by: mondatoo on June 25, 2008, 05:22:29 PM
You have 1010 in cutoff pos, 2 limpers in front 1st level of double stack(3000chips to start) $10 10man sng only like the 4th hand, I flat called as did button and sb.

Flop AQ10 checked to guy before u who min bets i pot it(160) and its folded to bb who min raises it the guy who min bet calls i flat called

Turn is a blank BB Pushes all in other guy calls

Is this just an easy fold ?

I know it is the probably the wrong thing to say (waits for flaming ;popcorn;), but I would call. Yes there is a good chance that one of them has J-K, but even if this is the case you are approx 22% to win the hand and to treble up in a $10 sng. They could also have other hands such as a rag ace, two pair etc so for me I call.

raise pre.

I usually would tbh but decided to just flat it(obviously should raise it to get rid of junky hands) but ok.

No, you raise to make people commit more money with 'junky hands'

by flat calling you are handing over control to people who otherwise would have relinquished control to someone wishing to establish control.
This surrender of control is only good when those who seemingly wishing to surrender control actually wish to surrender it in order to subsequently establish it (see Meta Game Control and the Semantics of Describing Control Situations ; hardback by Mantis)

I maybe about to get a free lesson(you dont charge do you flushie)

So if we had pp such as 7s or 6s when we raise are we hoping to get callers(by junky 2 overs) or to take the pot down (or is it just solely for 10s and above that you mean)

Fold pre.  TT is never good.  Always at least 2 overs on the flop.

Raising and calling are both fine pre in a sng, there is not much between them and it certainly won't affect your long term roi much.

Erm don't we have a set i get it all in on the flop, and i am very nitty early in sngs.

The way the flop was played by the villains it was obvious one of them had the nuts. The turn shove made it clearly obvious tbh, so I wouldnt call. What a poor play by the guy with the nuts.

Not necessarily poor play. In these $10 sng's you're likely to get called by anyone with an ace of some description.

There's no point letting anyone catch up a bit with this board. Even if they hit an underpair they're still not going to pay you off.

If you get tricky min raising or trap calling you just arouse suspicion. Jam them in and some muppet usually calls.

FWIW I would've snap called with the 10 10 and lost but that's just me.

even knowing that one of your opponents has KJ you're close to aving the odds to call here, you're calling 2640 to win 6400 (2.42 to 1) and have approx 22% equity in the pot even against KJ.

you only need neither of them to have the nuts about 10% of the time to make this a good call purely based on pot odds. the actual odds of neither having KJ has to be way above that.

I think I've got these numbers right
