Title: laptop help required (again)
Post by: Claw75 on June 27, 2008, 09:38:11 PM
A couple of weeks ago I spilt some water on my laptop - this has resulted in 6 or 7 of the keys not working.  I can't log into windows, as it's password protected, and my password contains some characters for which the keys are not working.

I've got hold of a wireless keyboard, but seem to be stuck in a catch 22 as I can install the drivers without loading windows, and can't load windows without the keyboard.

Does anyone know if there's any way around this (eg can I get the laptop to recognise the new keyboard without the need to load windows)?

Any help appreciated.

If you can't sort out the keyboard, there are ways of getting past the Windows log-in.  But you might have to press keys to do that as well, or to actually use the laptop properly once you've logged in.  So really you need to sort out the keyboard.

fwiw wireless keyboard shouldnt need drivers if it connects via USB.. will take about 2-3 mins to be recognized though
