Title: 6 card omaha Post by: rudders on June 28, 2008, 01:18:54 AM this hand is bugging me- i probably played it far too passively but am still finding my way with the live 6 card any how....
The game is a 1 1 6 card omaha in the casino seat 1 young 'wants to prove i am good enough' gambler with deep pockets ++LAG loses>wins 300 stack seat 2 local pro regular 6 card player ++ LAG wins++ > Loses 300 stack seat 3 regular in game well off buienessman steady-> loose( depending on mood) wins > loses 250 stack seat 4 me suprise suprise deemed to be granite am wel up over my 5 games played 200 stack seat 5 v rich kid absolute fish has reloaded 5 times in an hour big loser 100 stack seat 6 steady player- bookie understands the game probably a slight winner over time 150 satck seat 7 nice guy talks a good game likes to bluff generally probably loses more than wins 400 stack game has been going about 2 hours and has been faily quiet seats 2 and 3 joined 30 mins ago and want to up stakes seat 2 is raising preflop most hands and getting 3-4 callers seat 1 is starting to do the same. most reraises will get called. seats 1 2 3 would all happilly get it allin preflop with marginal hands to fty to trble up ( which is when the game normally escalates) seat 2 is the dealer seat I am dealt Aspades 2s Ahrt 5h 2c 5d utg makes it 5 to go (yes i know it should be 4 but its one of the things they just let go) I call- should I raise? possibly - it advertises the hand, and will only thin a field a bit- if all. also there is a good chance that it will get reraised in which case I may well reraise again? anyway that what I do and evryone calls! £35 in the middle flop is Ad Jc 9h it is checked to me, and I have top set with back door fl draw. I was going to pot it but sense that seats 1 and 2 seem very interested in the flop- also both are prone to bet any flop that has seen no action so I check. with this board I feel I should have bet anyway but there are also a lot of scare cards on the turn ( ie any kqt87) which leaves me playing out of position- what am I thinking? As flushie would say do I sleep with the lights on! I will stick with the plan to check raise option- not my fav in any omaha tbh. everyone checks.... anyway turn brings 3d I still have nuts and a gutshot. I pot it- called in 2 places seat2 and seat 6 river is the 4d I have the str but am shagged. I check is checked then a 3/4 pot bet from seat 2 which i fold to and is called buy the other guy who tables the Qd flush which beats seat 2s baby fl( hr also had the wrap for the low str) so... should I reraise preflop with this hand to then play out of position? should I have pot bet the flop and then the turn? ( the eventual winner also had up and down on the flop) Title: Re: 6 card omaha Post by: boldie on June 28, 2008, 11:05:05 AM you feel others are interested in the flop...so why would you not want to get it all in? You bet out and that gives them a chance to raise/reraise/call etc.
You said you didn't reraise pre-flop so that your hand isn't obvious, and then you don't take advantage of having done that by checking the flop? that doesn't work for me. Lead out and give them a chance to come over the top of you Title: Re: 6 card omaha Post by: FuglyBaz on June 28, 2008, 11:09:56 PM Raise pre and jam on flop. You can raise more than AAxx. And you say there's a fish or two so they'll always give you action anyway. I hate calling with such a strong hand and then checking.
