Title: Back pain and poker
Post by: Win Never on November 08, 2005, 04:03:38 PM
Being a tall lad i suffer at times from back pain whilst sitting playing online poker, i have a proper office chair (leather) but after an hour or two the lower back starts to ache. I usally get up and do some bending and stretching to ease the pain, id guess a lot of people would suffer similiar pain. Thats one problem which puts me off playing MTT'S because they can last for quite a few hours at a times.
Would anyone have any advice on how i could ease the pain and is there something i could buy to place around the bottom of my back??

My usual routine now would be to play cash games for an hour/hour and a half then take a break and have a walk about.

More painful than a 2 outer hit on the river by a swimmer................ :D

When you get a bad back at a live game it is always nice to have a pretty little thing on hand who can give you a back rub/massage. At robs game I tried a new recruit for the position but she didnt have the stamina to handle my muscular frame and quit after about 5 minutes the light weight..... godfather themetune again in my head, end of post!!

she told me to do certain stretches 2-3 times a day while sat in my chair and no reason i cant do them and play at same time

hopefully my pain will go away in 2-3 weeks

I've had various different pains due to sitting for hours at the computer. I now have a reclining chair, feet on window sill, cushion behind lower back, pillow behind head, arm resting on desk. I'm told it's very important to sit correctly, dunno if I am or not but it's working so far.

I play 10 hours+ per day and theres no way I could sit in one place for that length of time, I play on a laptop and I do everything from sitting or lying down to standing up and walking about carrying the computer

I use different chairs and sometimes I even sit on the loo or in the car

The next time you are on the table with me red I am going to have the image in my head of you sitting having a dump now you swine, not a pretty thought. Just for the record I have my broadband straight in bed so I am usually reclined and naked (if that doesn't put you all off I don't know what will).

It may help to put your feet on a footrest. If you can get one that slopes towards you that will do your back the world of good.
