Title: A-rag in Short-handed Post by: snoopy1239 on July 14, 2008, 09:34:53 PM How do peeps on blonde play A-rag (A-9 and downwards, say) in 6-handed cash games. Do you raise them, limp, fold? Different moves from different positions? Does them being suited make a difference?

Different moves from different positions? Does them being suited make a difference? Position is everything for me with a hand like that. I raise pre-flop with them if in position. Generally fold them when OOP. Suited doesn't make an awful lot of a difference but the 3% helps, I guess. Title: Re: A-rag in Short-handed Post by: Longy on July 14, 2008, 10:04:17 PM I am very robotic with my preflop openings, i never open limp in 6 max so we can rule that out. I might limp a2-a9s behind 2+ limpers on the button or co, i would raise one limper.
Utg i would fold a10-a2, might open a10s. From utg +1 i would include a10 and a9s,a8s. From the cutoff and button i pretty much raise any ace. Title: Re: A-rag in Short-handed Post by: TightEnd on July 14, 2008, 10:42:27 PM what do you do with them to a raise from LP in the blinds?
asssume decent laggy oppo. This is taken from fees 5k post on 2+2 and sums up shorthanded. "The idea shorthanded is to steal blinds and isolate limpers, this is like ur passive income in addition to the big hands. If you steal the blinds you have earned 1.5bb's. If you beat the game for 5PTBB (poker tracker big bets) you will notice you earn .1BB per hand. That means stealing the blinds earns you 15 times the average profit per hand. Beginning to understand why its so important and profitable?" what do you do with them to a raise from LP in the blinds? asssume decent laggy oppo. fold lol. IP you can deffo 3b a loose CO open a decent chunk. I am very robotic with my preflop openings, i never open limp in 6 max so we can rule that out. From the cutoff and button i pretty much raise any ace. Suprising longy, dont you adjust your CO/button ranges to the blinds tendencies? Well yeah i do but probs not as much as i should, and that is about the only thing that does change my preflop tactics apart from a monster fish changing the table dynamics. Personally, I'd fold unless if it was a tiny raise. I'd probably subscribe to that, although I'd be worried about opening A-8, A-9, etc in utg+1 and having to play it out of position to a call behind me. You have the initiative and the likely best hand against what are predominantly bad robotic players.
