Title: DTD Golf Day
Post by: Colchester Kev on July 15, 2008, 12:05:53 PM
I promised the lovely Maggie at DTD that I would try and see if blonde could get a team up for the following.

Tuesday 30th September

Wollaton Park Golf Club

£40 per person (which includes)
Full English breakfast at golf club (8.30-9am)
18 holes of golf
Buffet at DTD early evening
Prizes for winners and runners up, also nearest pin and longest drive.

PLAY WILL BE IN TEAMS OF 4.

After buffet and prize giving, there will be a DTD Golfers comp, or players can join the weekly scheduled comp.

If you are interested in playing, please put your name down on this thread.

I'd be well up for that. Especially if I can have the scrote on my team!

Do we play off handicaps? I'm around 28+++, though I did shoot my second best ever round of 96 (on a par 71) about a month ago.

Will ask the experts about official handicaps etc. Another obstacle (can't spell it soz!) are the deer  - big hairy animals who don't appreciate a small white ball hurtling towards them at the speed of sound. Said deer have been known to charge at mere humans during rutting season!

a lot of old deers despise the idea of men shooting their balls.

Count me in for the next one by which time I will

a) have returned from my honeymoon

and

b) got my amateur status back.

I don't know which is more exciting - getting 'help' again on a golf course or returning to the mundanity of married life...

Wollaton Park is great, just watch out for the deer. Have fun all.

No official handicaps required. My 'expert' who is helping me organise this says he will sort these out, he will limit the amount of shots the player is allowed.

I've played here - definately not a place for people scared of large animals!! Think there is one of two lakes, I'll see if I can find my stroke saver...

Surely nobody is likely to cheat in what is supposed to be a fun competition? We're not talking Phil Ivey / Ram Vaswani style stakes lol :)

p.s. my handicap is 36+

Not to that extent no, it's just I don't fancy taking a day off work to travel up to Nottigham to get the usual fantasy handicaps scenario, with "sunday morning rules" you find whenever non-handicappers try to play with a card in their hand. Be worse here as most dont know each other, so you dont have someone who will make a fair call on everyone's play when setting handicaps.

Signed - Mr Grumpy ;nanana;

Good luck with the golf day though. :)up
