And there has been some very notable action already. Neil Giblin shoved for his last 9k utg and it folded all the way around to Mickey Wernick on the small blind, who also announced all in. Big blind Paul Lammas got out of the way, and they were on their proverbial backs.

Wernick: Ad Kh
Giblin: Aspades Qs

Board: 5h 8d Tc 6h Qh

"God that hurts," says Mickey. Oh dear.

Down to just 1500 while Mr Giblin enjoyed a double up to around 20k, Mickey wasted no time in getting his last few chips in. The next hand, Andy Greekfish raised to 3.5k and Mickey called all in. Turning their cards over, Micley was delighted to discover that he was in fairly good shape, holding Kh Jc to Greekfish's 2s 2d.

Flop: Ks Js Qs - "Oh ffs," says Greekfish cheerfully, but he has the flush draw.

Turn: 7h

River: 6s

Mr Mickey Wernick is therefore OUT before he's even finished his coffee and all you people who picked him to win are sadly most mistaken.

A pretty big pot between HWCBN and Richard Berridge. 50k was in the middle when they both checked the river of an A-T-x-A-K board. Berridge was holding pocket queens, but HWCBN paired is king on the river. Would have been good fun if it had been a queen instead of a king...

-----------

It could be a short day, as we've lost yet another, Tom Nightingale quickly following the Legend Mickey Wernick out of the door. I joined the action on the flop, with the decision on blondeite Daniel Rudd. With a 5h 7c 5s waiting patiently on the felt, it looked as though Daniel's leading bet of 4,000 had been reraised to 10,500 by Tom, leading Daniel to inquire, "How much you playing?" Moments later, Daniel was announcing all-in, and although he spent a minute in the think tank, Tom eventually called with Th Td. Daniel showed Jd Jc.

The 8h turn and 7s river were of no use, and Tom was next to hit the deck.

An enormous double up for Jon Omara.

He made it 2.5k preflop and was called by Jim Reid in the big blind.

Flop: 5d 7c 6s

Reid checked, Omara bet 3.5k. Reid announced all in. With a bit of sighing but not that much actual hesitation, Omara called.

Reid: 5c 7h
Omara: 7d 7s

Turn and river: an entirely irrelevant Kc and Tc.

Mr Omara is up to around 70k and Jim Reid is rather shorter than that.

Jim Reid is next to taste dust, reraising Marc Goodwin's initial raise of 4,000 all-in from the next seat along. Mr Cool quickly called with queens, whilst Jim could only muster an inferior ace jack.

The 9-9-Q-7-5 board was rather emphatic.

----------

For once, an all-in encounter leads to a double up rather than an exit. Like the quickfire of a machine gun, a rapid sequence events led to a showdown with Steve Jelinek raising to 4,000, Daniel Rudd making it circa 10,000, Steve announcing all-in and Daniel calling.

On their backs...

Rudd = Qc Qs

Jelinek = Ahrt Kh

"King right off the bat," observes the compere without compare, Simon Trumper...

Flop = Kd 2d 9d

Turn = Jh

River = Ks

"Go on the Jelly," exclaimed Tony Phillips from the rail.

Rudd on 45k, Jelinek 100k.

Mr Andy Greekfish Andreou has been getting rather raise-happy. He raised from the button and everyone folded. Then he raised from the cutoff. "I know it looks bad 'cause I keep doing it so this time I'm going to show you my hand when you fold. If you fold." Everyone folds, and Mr Greekfish duly waves Ad Qh at the table.

A double up for the untypable Mr Shahnawaz Randera (henceforth to be known in speech as Mr Ctrl V). He found himself in a spot of bother, all in with 8s 8d against HWCBN's Aspades Ad, but here comes the miracle flop:

4s 8h 4d Js 2d

Mr Randera now on around 65k.

Title: Re: DTD Mini Festival: Final Day - At A Glance
Post by: danafish on July 19, 2008, 04:00:26 PM
Messrs Paul Lammas and Neil Giblin, seated next to each other, cradling around 15k and 13k respectively, seem to be taking it more or less in turns to shove their sad little stacks into the middle. Lammas did it twice with no callers. When Giblin tried it on next hand, Mr Greekfish considered it carefully from the big blind before announcing, "I think you're got a pair of sixes. I'm gonna fold." Giblin showed him 7-8 offsuit and giggled.

Near table...

Seat 1: Jeff Rogers -- 27,000
Seat 2: Daniel Rudd -- 44,000
Seat 3: Richard Berridge -- 43,000
Seat 4: James Bishop -- 18,000
Seat 5: Shahnawaz Randera -- 75,000
Seat 6: HWCBN -- 44,000
Seat 7: Richard Stanley -- 49,000
Seat 8: Steve Jelinek -- 129,000

Far table...

Seat 1: Jon Omara -- 92,000
Seat 2: Paul Lammas -- 30,000
Seat 3: Neil Giblin -- 20,000
Seat 4: Chris Bruce -- 87,000
Seat 5: Marc Goodwin -- 85,000
Seat 6: Andrew Andreou -- 28,000

If you are on the ball, you'll have noticed that the far table is looking rather sparse in terms of players. One reason for this is the recent exit of blondeite Richard 'Forrester' Sherwood. Although he eventually fell at the hands of Neil Giblin when his Kc 4s failed to outgun 5s 5h on an ensuing Qh 2d 8d Ac 9d board, the majority of his chips sailed into the welcoming hands of Paul Lammas.

With 6d 6s, Richard will have been relived to be coin flipping once Paul revealed Aspades Ks, but after the dealer popped out a menacing 8s 9c Js, it was clear he would need to display the bullet dodging capabilities of Phil Hellmuth to survive. However, a clinical 2s quickly dashed any hopes, followed by an academic Kd river, to leave Richard with what Colchester Kev would refer to as a "bowel of rice".

The player can't be named, but I can certainly give you the hand. All in with Ac 8c against the Ad Kc of James Bishop, HWCBN was in desperate need of finding one of three eights, of which duly arrived on the turn of a 9d Ahrt 7c 8d 4c board to serve up a most welcome of double ups. To say Bishop didn't look happy would be an understatement.

And indeed the unlucky Mr Bishop has got unlucky again - this time leaving him OUT at the hands of Mr Steve "Chip Leader" Jelinek. All in preflop, Bishop's Qh Qc was looking most confident against Jelinek's Aspades Jd, but oh, disaster:

Kh Ad 2h 7h Js

James was a gentleman and offered a handshake rather than the Bishop's Finger that is my feeble attempt at punning after only a single cup of coffee; nevertheless, he is OUT.

Bishop's finger just out of shot:

An enormous hand between Mr Richard Berridge (not as orange in real life as he appears below) and Mr Richard Stanley (for some reason I forgot to take a photo of him at all). With around 30k in the pot preflop, Berridge moved in for 28k on the 3s 6h 2c flop, leaving Stanley, who only just covered him, with a decision. "If you fold, I'll show you the bluff," said Berridge, and Stanley mulled over what this meant for a few moments before folding A-K up. Berridge showed an un-bluffy pair of pocket jacks.

Mr Daniel Rudd is OUT, so once again all those of you who picked him to win were alas entirely wrong. I only caught the end of the hand, which involved Rudd all in with Td Th and Marc Goodwin with 7c 9c, the board 6c 7s 9s 4s Aspades. I understand that Rudd had raised utg though, and Goodwin had called in the big blind...

Duh duh duh

Another one bites the dust.

And this time it is Mr Jef Rogers, in most enormously unfortunate circumstance. He was all in preflop with two callers, one of them Steve Jelinek, who contained his betting urge until the river of the Ts 6s 6d Jc 9h board, forcing opponent number 2 to fold. Jelinek turned over Th Td for the flopped full house. Rogers showed pocket queens and made his exit.

Mr Neil Giblin, whom Snoopy is calling Limescale as he is proving impossible to get rid of (I have told Snoopy about limescale removing products, but he doesn't believe me), has doubled up again. Jon Omara raised to 3k and then called Giblin's 14k all in. Giblin was ahead all the way.

Giblin: Kh Kc
Omara: Td Ts

Board: quadalicious 3s Kd Jc 5s Ks

Jon Omara is up to exactly 77.2k (he counted it for me) after a curious hand against Marc Goodwin.

Omara made it 4k preflop, and Goodwin called in the big blind. All good.

Flop: 2c 7h Ahrt - Goodwin check-calls 6.9k from Omara.

Turn: 5c - Goodwin now check-calls 12k from Omara.

River: 8h - check, check.

Omara: Ac Td

Goodwin: "I only missed 22 outs," and muck. Goodwin now down to a still chip-leady-contendy 130k.

A clock-calling moment on Table 12. Neil Giblin raised to 4.5k in early position, and Greekfish asked for a count. Mr Giblin had 32k in total. Mr Greekfish raised to 32k. Everyone else got out of the way. There followed a lengthy argument about whether or not Mr Greekfish had a hand, and further whether or not Mr Goblin had a better hand. The clock was threatened and eventually Mr Giblin folded. Mr Greekfish declared that only your humble updater could see his cards, which were Jd Js.

Fireworks on the near table as Steve Jelinek (button) and Richard Berridge (small blind) get it all in preflop for what is surely the biggest pot of the tournament!!!

Jelinek = Qd Qs

Berridge = Kc Kd

Flop = Ad Aspades 9d

Turn = 6d

River = 3s

"Yes!," exclaims a pumped up Richard Berridge as he clenches his fists in delight. "I didn't like that," he adds. "That was horrible."

Meanwhile, Steve can only compliment "nice hand" and quietly slide the chips over to his foe, later turning to wife Irena on the rail and shaking his head in dismay.

That pot has given Richard Berridge the chip lead with a monster 180,000 in chips.

I mentioned fireworks in my last post, but there are more explosions than World War II out there at the moment as Paul Lammas finds himself all in against neighbour Neil Giblin.

After Paul had raised it to 4,100 from the button, Neil pushed all in from the small blind. Paul called quicker than a sheep in a wooly jumper factory.

As Paul swiftly turned over Ac Ad and rose confidently from his chair, he was relieved to find he had his man totally dominated with a paltry Ahrt Jh.

It doesn't look good commented a dejected Neil as the flop brought a harmless looking 7c 4c Ts.

But the 8s on the turn provided the underdog with four outs. "Don't do it," pleaded Paul.

However, his cries fell on stony ground as out it came, the cruel and devastating 9c on the river.

As onlookers shrieked, Paul's body sagged in defeat and Neil was left to meekly rake in what could prove a crucial pot.

Down to 10.

-------------

Before the melee of those previous two encounters, we had a smaller showdown involving Richard Stanley, but it was one that doubled him through nonetheless. With the board reading Qd Qh 4d Th, HWCBN bet out 10,500 and Richard called all in. Upon being shown a Qc Ts for the full house, HWCBN swiftly mucked making the Th on the river academic. Richard is now on 36,600, so still struggling.

Many things have been happening while the beagle has been hogging the sitting-down-and-typing aspect of an updater's job.

Chris Bruce raised to 4.6k on the cutoff, only for Marc Goodwin to make it 20.6k on the button. Andy Greekfish whispers to me, "I passed Sevens." Says Bruce: "As long as the flop doesn't come 7-9 I'll be ok," but he folds.

---------

Mr Andy Greekfish remains a short stack, and made a surprising fold after raising to 5k utg when Chris Bruce raised all in from the small blind. Mr Greekfish spent a long time hypothesizing over what Mr Bruce might be holding (in the end he guessed A-K) and also vaguely hoping that someone else would go out on the other table while he was considering the call. He folded pocket tens face up. Mr Bruce was indeed holding A-K.

Mr Steve Jelinek's fortunes continue to sink. He raised it up with pocket jacks and then called HWCBN's all in with Ad Ts.... and the board came down 6d 6c Ac 7h 4c. Yikes.

Down to just 11.6k, however, Jelinek moved in utg with Ahrt Kh, and received a surprisingly fast call from HWCBN seeing as he was holding just Qc Jc. Board: 4s 2s Ad 4d Kd. Though still desperate, Jelinek stays in and we remain on the bubble for the time being.

Final!

Steve Jelinek is our unfortunate final table bubble boy. Short-stacked and in desperate need of a double up, he made his move with 5d 4d but was picked off by the Ac Kd of Richard Stanley. On the Qc 8h Kh flop, Steve quickly accepted his fate and congratulated his opponent, barely bothering to look as the 2d turn and 7s river hit the felt.

Richard Berridge   15   5   188100
Marc Goodwin   15   2   165600
Shahnawaz Randera   15   8   102600
Christopher Bruce   15   4   83800
Jon Omara   15   3   70300
Richard Stanley   15   6   52100
HWCBN   15   7   48600
Neil Giblin   15   9   43200
Andy Greekfish   15   1   35900

Some minor action in the first few hands.

First Richard Berridge makes it 4.5k, and is called by Marc Goodwin in the small blind. They see a 9s 4s Kc flop and Goodwin checks to Berridge, who bets 5k. Goodwin calls. They both check the Qc turn, leading them necessarily to a river; it is the Aspades. Marc now bets out 20k, and Berridge makes a rather brave and entirely correct call with Qh Jc. Goodwin shows 5s 5d. "That's how you got all those chips, then," muses Mr Goodwin.

Title: Re: DTD Mini Festival: Final Day - At A Glance
Post by: danafish on July 19, 2008, 08:01:36 PM
Chris Bruce is the first to make a dent, however slight, in the Berridge stack. Blind on blind, one of them raises and the other calls (sorry, missed that bit) and they see a 7h 6c 6d flop, which they both check. Bruce bets out 5k on the 7s turn, which Berridge calls, and once they've both checked the 3s river, Brucie takes it down with 9s 9c, Berridge only managing Ad Jc.

Title: Re: DTD Mini Festival: Final Day - At A Glance
Post by: danafish on July 19, 2008, 08:23:58 PM
Yes indeed, largely the hands that I witnessed involved either a) Richard Berridge bullying everyone into submission, b) lots of folding, or c) some largely uninteresting blind-on-blind limpy/checky action.

One exception was a fun hand where Marc Goodwin raised to 6k on the cutoff only for Jon Omara to make it a very large 40k frm the button. With the absolute minimum of fuss, Goodwin folded 9s 9c up.

After a slight lull in play, a monster pot develops seemingly from nowhere. With Richard Berridge raising it up under-the-gun to 5,000 preflop, Chris Bruce makes the call from the big blind leading to a two-way flop of 8c Ahrt 2s. After check-calling 7,000 on the flop and 20,000 on the 6d turn, Chris finds himself facing a bet of 50,000 on the Qc river. As Richard pushes in the chips, Chris doesn't look happy, sighing and removing his sunglasses as he looks inquisitively at his opponent. "That's not a value bet is it?" probes Chris. "Surely a value bet would be more like 20,000." After declaring that it would be a sick call, Chris finally pushes 50,000 along the felt and flips Ad 3s. Richard, meanwhile, can only tap the table and muck his hand.

Huge hand for Chris, whilst Richard relinquishes his chip lead and drops down to 120,000.

Seat 1: Andrew Andreou -- 28,000
Seat 2: Marc Goodwin -- 161,000
Seat 3: Jon Omara -- 77,000
Seat 4: Chris Bruce -- 183,000
Seat 5: Richard Berridge -- 121,000
Seat 6: Richard Stanley -- 33,000
Seat 7: HWCBN -- 40,000
Seat 8: Shahnawaz Randera -- 99,000
Seat 9: Neil Giblin -- 33,000

Marc Goodwin has been throwing his chip weight around. He raised to 6k preflop twice in a row, and the second time he found a caller in HWCBN in the big blind. Mr CBN also check-called 10k from Marc on the Td Jd 5s flop, but laid down Th 6h up when Marc made it 30k on the Ahrt turn. Mr Goodwin showed Ad 5d.

Refusing to be bullied, although still in a very passive sort of way, HWCBN in the small blind called an utg raise to 4.5k from Richard Berridge. They both checked the 4s 8s 6d flop, and HWCBN checked the Jc turn too, and then called 5k from Berridge. HWCBN was happy to check the Kd river too, and when Berridge bet 10k, he considered it for some time before calling. With 4h 5s. And it was good. A slightly sheepish Berridge mucked.

Berridge, now heading towards that 'oh dear, where have all my chips gone?' sort of region, is not letting up the aggression. He raises to 6k preflop - and Richard Stanley promptly goes all in to his left. It folds around and Berridge promptly calls.

Stanley: Jd Jc
Berridge: Jh Js

Giggling.

Board: 8s 3d Qs 5h 7s - choppity chop.

Stanley: "You call my jacks? Unbelievable. I might have had queens!"

Neil Giblin is OUT and becomes the 9th place finisher winning £1,185

A simple affair really. Neil pushed with 5c 5h on the button and Marc Goodwin called with Ac 4c from the big blind. Qs 9d Aspades Qh 4h board favoured Mr Cool, and jakally was gone.

--------

Shahnawaz Randera raised to 7,500 from the button and Marc Goodwin called from the big. Both players checked the 9c 3s 4s flop, only for Marc to bet out 20,000 on the Qd turn. Randera called. A 5c on the river and Marc bet out again, this time to the tune of 45,000. After much deliberation, Randera made the call and showed Aspades Qc. Marc mucked.

Marc Goodwin is now down to 109,000.

---------

Seat 1: Andrew Andreou -- 34,000
Seat 2: Marc Goodwin -- 113,000
Seat 3: Jon Omara -- 67,000
Seat 4: Chris Bruce -- 170,000
Seat 5: Richard Berridge -- 122,000
Seat 6: Richard Stanley -- 25,000
Seat 7: HWCBN -- 74,000
Seat 8: Shahnawaz Randera -- 166,000

Marc Goodwin picked up a few chips, button-raising to 7.5k and getting himself called by Chris Bruce in the big blind.

They both checked the 2c 7c 2d flop and Ks turn. Chris checked the Qc river and then called a 14k bet from Marc. Marc nonchalantly turned over Kh Qs and Brucie mucked.

After an extended period of assorted players raising in late position, getting no callers and then showing an ace of some sort, a moment of excitement. Chris Bruce raised to 6.5k utg and Richard Berridge to his immediate left called. HWCBN, however, made it 36k total. It folded around to Bruce, who very tantalisingly asked for a count on HWCBN (30k behind) but then folded. So did Berridge.

Stacks after that -

Berridge: 124k
Brucie: 165k
HWCBN: 83k

Mr Greekfish, who has been grinding like he never ground before, is up to around 50k after sort of snapping and shoving two hands in a row.

First he moved in from the cutoff. Big blind Brucie considered it. "Do you want a call?" "Yeah, I think I do." Eventually Brucie folded pocket sevens. "You folded that? Are you mad? I'm not going to show now, I'm too embarrassed."

The next hand, Randera raises to 7.5k and Greekfish, in a pretending-he-hasn't-seen-the-raise sort of way, pushes all his chips across the line. It folds back around to Randera, who folds pocket sevens up again! Much hilarity. Everyone is half expecting Greekfish to show sixes, but he shows a very respectable would-have-been-coinflipping A-K. "I'm out to win it now," says Greekfish.

And we have an exit!

Randera makes it 10k and small blind Berridge flat calls. Richard "The Knife" Stanley, however, cuts them up - he shoves for around 30k. Randera folds, but Berridge calls.

Stanley: Ks Qd
Berridge: 6s 6c

Board: 9c 3s 7s 4s 4d

Apparently Randera folded A-K. So there you go.

Thus Richard Stanley is OUT in 8th place winning £1,777.

After a flurry of blind stealing hands, we finally reach a showdown with Richard Berridge raising it up preflop with Ad Kd, Andrew Andreou pushing all in with Kc Ks and Richard making what was an understandably quick call.

The 4h 9s 2h 9h 6h board caused no changes, meaning Andrew doubled up to something rather more threatening and is now a real contender on this final table.

---------

Approx chip counts:

Seat 1: Andrew Andreou -- 133,000
Seat 2: Marc Goodwin -- 104,000
Seat 3: Jon Omara -- 68,000
Seat 4: Chris Bruce -- 157,000
Seat 5: Richard Berridge -- 74,000
Seat 7: HWCBN -- 95,000
Seat 8: Shahnawaz Randera -- 126,000

----------

A spot of misfortune now for HWCBN ("I feel like that guy out of Harry Potter, you know, the one where they're not allowed to say his name") as Marc Goodwin doubles up with 5s 5h. HWCBN looked in good shape with 8h 8d, but a third five on the turn of a Ac 9s 2s 5c Kh dashed any hopes of an exit, and we remain on seven.

Goodwin now on circa 50,000 in chips.

Marc Goodwin made it 9k from the button, and big blind Berridge made it All In for around 75k. Call. All very quickly, justlikethat.

Goodwin: Ad 9d
Berridge: Kh Tc

Board: a very exciting Kc 5d 3d Ts Jc

Meaning that Berridge doubles up to approximately the chip lead (around 160k) while Goodwin is down to a mere 10-big-blinds-y 30k. "I was just playing back at you," offers Berridge by way of apology or some such...

Sad Goodwin:

Good lord, will no-one ever be eliminated?

HWCBN limps in utg, and calls a raise from Marc Goodwin. They see a flop.

Flop: 7c 6c 9h - check, check.

They see a turn.

Turn: Kh - now HWCBN bets 18k. Goodwin goes all in. Call.

HWCBN: 6h 6d for a flopped set.
Goodwin: Kc Kd for a turned set. Yikes.

River: not a six, but a Td.

Golden Goodwin up to around 110k, HWCBN down to just 45k.

Not any more he's not. Marc Goodwin raises to 11k and Richard Berridge smooth calls behind him. The flop comes down 6d 5h 2c and Marc bets out 30k. Again, flat call. They proceed to check down the 9s turn and the 2d river, and Berridge turns over 7s 7d to win a roughly 90k pot, putting him on around 180k by my reckoning.

With Richard Berridge making a button raise of 10,000, HWCBN took the opportunity to push all in from the small blind for a total of 40,500.

As HWCBN (or "the artist formerly know as Mick McBag" as Simon Nowab called him) remained relatively quiet, simply chewing on gum and swinging gently on his swivel chair, Richard stood up from his own chair and commented "You look weak."

With the onlooking crowd eagerly awaiting a decision, Richard took a deep breath and announced "I call."

Although HWCBN could only table king high with Kc Qh, it was indeed ahead as a dejected Richard Berridge meekly showed a dominated Qs Jh.

However, it hasn't been HWCBN's day so far today, and the tide didn't turn this time, the board coming a rather cruel 4s 3c Js 6c 6d.

Again, he took his defeat like a good sport, as he did when I showed him his final table picture from earlier.

So yes indeed, He Who Cannot Be Named is OUT in 7th place winning £2,370.

Here's some action to liven all you stiffs up a bit!

Must confess that I wasn't exactly perfectly tableside per se for the beginning of this hand, but it appears that Jon Omara open-shoved utg and got himself called by Greekfish in the small blind.

Omara: Ac 3s
Greekfish: 8c 8h

Board: 2h 3c 9c 8s Jc

And it's all over for Jon Omara, as he finishes in 6th place winning £2,962.

I have eaten an enormous hamburger, and Marc Goodwin has doubled up. These things are not related.

After raising to 15k from the cutoff and laying it down to an all in reraise from Richard Berridge in the small blind, the very next hand Marc raised again, and sure enough, Berridge reraised all in again. This time Marc called.

Goodwin: Th Td
Berridge: Ac Jh

Board: 9c 3h 8c 7c 8d

Marc is now up to an averagey sort of 160k, and Berridge is down to an averagey sort of 170k. In fact all the stacks are more or less even. We could be here forever.

Disaster!

Chris Bruce makes it 20k utg, and finds callers in Randera on the button and Marc in the big blind.

They see a Td Ks 4h flop. Marc checks. Chris bets another 20k. Randera flat calls, at which Marc announces all in. Everyone gets up and wanders about, tensely. Chris folds. Randera calls, and this is bizarre, as he is calling for his tournament life, and he is holding...

...Ac Jd. Apparently Chris folded A-J. Marc is holding 4d 4s.

Turn: wait for it.......

.....

Qs

Ouch.

River: 8s which doesn't pair the board, obviousl, and Randera doubles up to around 300k, while Marc is down to a disgruntled sort of 25k or thereabouts.

The very next hand, Marc is all in with Qd Js against Richard Berridge's 5c 5s.

Board: a straightalicious 9c 6h Th Ks 4d

"That makes it all square then, right?" says Marc Goodwin, who in spite of his legendary cool appears to be sulking just a little bit. "I won one and I lost one, so that's all ok."

"Chris shows Ac 9c," announces Simon Trumper, "and Marc has "Kh..."

Marc reveals just the one card and adds, "I haven't looked at the other yet."

"... and 7h," continues Trumper as Marc flips over the other. "Two live cards."

Board = 5h 7d 2d Kd... academic river...

... and Mr Cool doubles through.

And again, Mr Goodwin doubles through most fortunately, as if the poker gods feel bad about that gutshot.

He moves in for 36k utg and it folds around to Andy Greekfish on the big blind, whose attention is entirely absorbed by the steak dinner in front of him and just the hand before said that he intended not to get involved in anything until the steak was gone. He calls.

Goodwin: Ahrt 4d
Andreou: 8d 8h

Greekfish is already looking back down at his steak, but the board is a Goodwin-favouring Aspades 4h 9s 9c 9h. Apparently Berridge folded K-9, which in retrospect considering the board was probably not in his interest. Goodwin doubles up to 80k or so.

They've all got alligator blood here, the latest player to survive an all-in being serial final tabler Chris Bruce. Pushing for around 70,000 from the small blind (3k/6k blinds), he found a call from Richard Berridge in the big blind who showed Kh Ts. Chris tabled Qc 6c.

Board = 8c 7d Qd 8s 3h

Brucie lives to fight another day. Didn't he do well?

--------

After battling his way back into contention with the determination of the most fearsome of Trojan warriors, poor Marc Goodwin has suffered yet another unfortunate setback as he crosses swords with local favourite Richard Berridge. With the latter pushing all in for a total of 85,800, Marc Goodwin sighed momentarily before leaning back in his chair and announcing, "One again, I call."

On their backs...

Richard = Kd Th

Marc = Ahrt Td

Flop = Qh 5s Ks

Marc walks away from the table in disgust.

Turn = 7d

He needs help...

River = 9h

Richard pumps the air as his fans on the rail quietly celebrated his victory with a smattering of muted cheers.

Marc, meanwhile, is back below 50,000.

"This is the sickest final table I've ever seen," observes a flabber gasted Chris Bruce.

Oh dear. Poor old Marc Goodwin.

It folds to him on the small blind. "I'm all in blind," he says to big blind Chris Bruce. "That's how everyone else is playing. Turn 'em over, decide if you want to call." Bruce doesn't turn them over, but he folds. Marc's cards are mucked without him looking at them.

This is what he looks like:

(http://blondepoker.com/gallery/main.php?g2_view=core.DownloadItem&g2_itemId=19161&g2_serialNumber=1)

The next hand, he moves in from the button, and Richard Berridge calls from the big blind.

Goodwin: Kd 9h
Berridge: Ac 3s

Board: 7d Td 6c Jc 2c

Everyone applauds, except for Marc who seems to be performing more of a slow clap.

A rather disgruntled Marc Goodwin is OUT in 5th place winning £4,147.

Awesome bluffage by Mr Chris Bruce. With a raise and a call preflop, Berridge checked the Ad 8s Kd flop. Bruce bet 20k, and Berridge called.

Berridge also checked the 7c turn, and then laid it down when Bruce announced all in for another 75k. Berridge folded, showing the Kh. Bruce showed Th Jh.

Title: Re: DTD Mini Festival: Final Day - At A Glance

Mr Bruce raises utg to 22k. Mr Greekfish, on the big blind, goes all in. Their stacks are roughly even. There follows a lengthy and at times bizarre conversation between the two, in a weird attempt to determine what the other is holding. Eventually Bruce folds Ad Td face up. With much cackling all-round hysteria, Greekfish shows Aspades Tc.

-----------

Just as I was thinking it only takes a couple of big hands, the action suddenly exploded unannounced. In a matter of seconds, Chris Bruce raised, Andrew Andreou pushed all in and Chris called.

Chris = Ks Kh

Andrew = Tc Ts

Board = 5h Js 6d Ac Jd

Andrew drops to 21,000, whilst Chris doubles up to 340,000.

Super-short-stacked Mr Greekfish pushed all in on the small blind and very quickly indeed Mr Chris Bruce called, keen to finish the job.

Greekfish: 6s 6d
Bruce: Js 8h

Board: 7d 5h Kc 4d 9d

Double-up! Greekfish now on around 42k.

--------

Next hand he pushed in from the button. Big blind Berridge considered it but folded, saying he'd had K-9. Greekfish showed K-3. Blinds for Greekfish!

Title: Re: DTD Mini Festival: Final Day - At A Glance
Post by: danafish on July 20, 2008, 03:01:28 AM
Greekfish decides not to push next hand, and thus allows Chris Bruce to raise to 25k form the button. Small blind Berridge flat called, and they saw a flop. It was 2c 3c Aspades, which pleased Bruce greatly. He bet another 25k. Berridge called.

Turn: Qd

Bruce announced all in. "I run so bad," said Berridge, before folding Kd Kh face up. Bruce shows him the Ad for sympathetic vindicatory purposes as he rakes in the chips.

---------

Another big hand versus big hand affair occurred just moments ago when Richard Berridge and Chris Bruce found themselves all in with jacks and tens respectively. As the Berridge fans raced down from the cash game to cheer on their man, the dealer dealt out a Berridge-friendly 2h 2d Kd flop. The 3s turn was similarly harmless, and after a "one time" shout from the rail, the dealer dealt out the non-ten 5c on the river. "Yes!" exclaimed Richard as his supporters shared in his delight.

Berridge now on around 250,000 and back in contention.

----------

As a result, the chip counts are thus with Andrew Andreou remaining the current short stack:

Seat 1: Andrew Andreou -- 54,000
Seat 4: Chris Bruce -- 230,000
Seat 5: Richard Berridge -- 245,000
Seat 8: Shahnawaz Randera -- 250,000

Still anyone's game...

Richard Berridge is OUT and becomes the 4th place finisher winning £5,332

Crumbs. More drama than a Die Hard Trilogy boxset as Richard Berridge is eliminated by Shahnawaz Randera, just moments after doubling up to 250,000.

All in preflop from the button, Richard was quickly called by Shahnawaz who triumphantly revealed Qc Qh. Richard looked understandably a glum as he showed Ad Js.

With the rail holding their breath and praying for a bullet, it failed to arrive as the board came a non-rocket-delivering 9c 4s 7d Jd 5s.

Shahnawaz had his man just about covered, meaning he jumps up to the half a mil mark as Richard trudges towards the door.

And then there were three...

----------

I'm not sure my heart can take much more of this. Yet another all-in!!!

All in preflop...

Andrew Andreou = Qh 9s

Chris Bruce = Ad Jc

Flop = 3h 8h Ahrt

"Oh, come on, don't put a heart down there," said Greekfish sarcastically.

Turn = Kc

River = Kh

He's aliiiiiiiiiiive!

Two double ups have put Mr Randera, who actually calls himself a much more RSI-friendly Babu, in a bit of an awkward position.

First, Chris Bruce announced 25k from the small blind. "50k," announced Babu before Bruce had even counted out the 25k. Raising an eyebrow, "All in," announced Chris, and, "Call," announced Babu.

Babu: Ahrt Kh
Chris: Ks Kc

Board: 2d 9s 9d 5c 6c

Chris Bruce doubles up to around 350k.

---------

A few hands later, Babu raised to 25k from the button. Greekfish announced all in from the small blind, clearly not really expecting a call, because he turned over Kh Th. Babu turned over Ad Qc.

Board: 9c 5h Jc 6c Qs

Babu: down to around 120k.

Greekfish: up to aorund 300k. "I need a cigarette break. Did you see what I just done?"

---------

Seat 1: Andrew Andreou -- 295,000
Seat 4: Chris Bruce -- 375,000
Seat 8: Shahnawaz Randera -- 122,000

With blinds of 5,000 and 10,000 and a running ante of 1,000, Chris Bruce limps on the button, Shahnawaz Randera pushes all in on the small blind for 172,000, Andrew Andreou calls in the big and Chris passes.

Andrew = Ad Qh
Shahnawaz = Qd 5d

Flop = 3h 8h 2d

Turn = 5h

"Oh, for fuck's sake," rants a clearly disappointed Andrew, perhaps showing signs of a real will to win this event.

River = Qs

With Andrew left with 90,000, he's obviously unhappy: "Yeah, yeah, you know you can't win the tournament so you're going in all the time. I'd do the same in your position."

As Andrew walks away from the table to calm himself down, Chris echos his previous declaration of "This is by far the sickest... the sickest final table I have ever been involved in."

Would that we could go to bed as well, but we are still three-way, Greekfish still the short stack owing to this further sickness.

Blind on blind, Greekfish announced all in, Bruce announced call.

Greekfish: 6d 6s
Bruce: Ac Qs

Board: 4c 8h ("Six!" shouts Greekfish) 6h ("Oh, it is as well!") 5s ("not a seven") 7c ("FFS!!!")

Split pot means no double up for sad Greekfish this time.

Andrew 'Greekfish' Andreou -- 115,000
Chris 'Brucie' Bruce -- 325,000
Shahnawaz 'Er... any ideas?' Randera -- 310,000

Andy "Greekfish" Andreou is OUT in 3rd place winning £8,295.

This came about owing to Mr Greekfish shoving with Jc 8s, and Mr Babu calling with Ts Tc.

Board: 4h 2s 8h 9d 7h

WE HAVE A WINNER!!!!

Chris Bruce is the WINNER!!! of the DTD Mini Festival Main Event winning a trophy and a sum of money to be determined according to his chip count.

Yes, that's right, they chopped it. Brucie suggested it, Babu said ok. Payouts hopefully to follow.

Congratulations to Mr Brucie and also to his worthy runner-upper Mr Shahnawaz Babu Randera, who officially exits in 2nd place winning a smaller sum of money than Mr Bruce.
