For insurance company i go with retired. Not a good idea. We had a similar thread to this one before. 2 professional poker players who claimed to be "retired" had their car insurance cancelled, good job they hadn't made a claim or it could have been null and void. Title: Re: Poker pro's- What do you say? Post by: ariston on July 19, 2008, 02:57:10 PM I claim retired- I only play poker recreationally as its not classed as a proffesion in this country (ie its not taxable). Any insurance company who tried to void a policy would be on very sticky ground.

Post by: GreekStein on July 21, 2008, 04:52:47 PM Some Insurance companies have been known to be a lot more reluctant to insure your car if you are a poker player. Part of their rationale is that often you may have money in the car if travelling to and from casinos and therefore your car is more likely to be broken into.

With mortgage you are effectively taking a loan secured against an asset, which involves paying it back. Companies don't like lending money to people with no guaranteed income, I have had to get my parents to act as a guarantor when i have been renting places. |
