Title: Flopping nuts omaha OOP
Post by: Bertpup on July 23, 2008, 11:27:04 PM
Trying to get back in to the omaha and am wondering what people do in these situations. A little bit of background the table has been typical party .5/1 nice and friendly lots of limping with a fair bit of donkishness.

Bertpup??

It isnt the hand as such that im after analysis from. Its the situation we have flopped the nuts OOP with only a backdoor redraw. In what way would it be most profitable to approach this hand. Bet out? Check with the intention of raising? What if had full stack infront of me what then?

Lead half pot. Reload before playing a hand next time.

Too vulnerable a hand to be keen to see future streets, especially with your low so weak. It's unlikely you'd win the whole pot.

I'm jamming.

What if you had a full stack noflop still lead?

In terms of stack size im just taking a few shortstack shots in between sit and gay sessions

Oh yes, I'd probably still jam. Good chance of flush draw too on the turn.

If there were two suits on the flop, I'd check and jam turn if no flush.

If I expect oppo to re-raise me if I lead out, I lead out. Otherwise I might check-call and Check raise the turn..if I think that works best against oppo...generally, lead out here though.

This is a ridiculously non scary flop. ANY play is fine here. Lead flop, Check raise flop, Check call flop.

This is where omaha becomes a game you need to play the streets. The pot is fuck all. Let it bloat up a bit on the flop and turn before you want to get it in. We also have backdoor nut spades which are quite valuable (18-1) i think so we give ourselves a 5% advantage against a bare 75.

Strongest play i think is to check call flop and lead blank turn. But like i said, any play is fine

Why lead a blank turn? Why not give oppo another chance to hang himself?

Lead into him and he might hang himself with top set, 2 pair, worse straight. Leading here doesnt look like the nuts. We want to bloat up this pot a bit, and if we check he can check behind with set, redraw, flush draw picked up on turn and when the river dings a non blank. you have to check/fold.

Sorry for the use of the word 'he' it obviously also could be a 'she'

True and I'm ok with leading out on the flop..It's the check-call flop, lead a blank turn action that I don't really get.

My last post was based on turn play not flop play.

Also 'It's the check-call flop, lead a blank turn action that I don't really get'. This is what its supposed to do, confuse people so they stack off without the nuts.

Sorry im a bit on my high horse at the moment....been having some diamond sessions at 1000plo recently :D
