Title: DTD Monthly £300 Freezeout Day 1 - At A Glance Post by: danafish on August 02, 2008, 07:20:47 PM Hello hello and welcome to DTD. I have just arrived after managing not to crash Snoopy's car all the way up the M1, and am all set for a night of hardcore updating and possibly eating a curry later. Mr Floppy is nowhere to be seen, but unless he has managed to crash his car somewhere on the M1, I suspect he will be here shortly. Familiar faces spotted so far include the Blondepoker Boy Band, Steve Jelinek, Des Jonas, Kinboshi who's only come down to play cash, and, er, Jen Mason, who was feeding me sandwiches and cigarettes in the car while simultaneously tuning us in to Smooth FM.

Title: Re: DTD Monthly £300 Freezeout Day 1 - At A Glance Post by: NoflopsHomer on August 02, 2008, 07:40:27 PM Hiring a car is like being a baseball player, you should never swing at the first pitch. The car which I've got that got me here is little more than a speedy toaster on wheels, which groans at any suggestion of going around 70mph. Combined with this, once I reached Nottingham the seatbelt alarm went off repeatedly. For about twenty minutes. Despite the fact I'm sitting comfortably in the chair.
The moral of the story is, don't hire a Mitsubishi Colt. Title: Re: DTD Monthly £300 Freezeout Day 1 - At A Glance Post by: danafish on August 02, 2008, 08:34:19 PM Mr Paul Lammas is seated at a table currently with Barry Neville, Mr Ralph Karabiner and Dave Smith, among others. One of those others is the gentleman on the winning end of our first all in encounter of the day. His now departed opponent called a bet on the 7-9-9 flop, another on the 3 turn, and somehow found himself all in on the 9 river. Mr Departed could only boast pocket Fives, while Mr Double Up was holding Kings. Here he is raking in his chip-leading new stack:

Mr Nicholls made it 300, I understand from the big blind, and received six callers and one reraise to 1000. Nicholls re-reraised another 1000 and was called, and another 3000 found its way into the pot by the turn, but Nicholls eventually gave it up. There were murmurs of two-pair-over-two-pair, but, as tikay put it, "I think one was nicking and the other was at it."
Train stories not going down well again: (http://blondepoker.com/gallery/main.php?g2_view=core.DownloadItem&g2_itemId=19282&g2_serialNumber=1) Meanwhile, across the table, "Tell everyone that Pete Charalambous is getting drunk." "Oh dear," said I, "Have you wanged some already?"
"Hey, I've been hit on the head this week, give me a break," she replied, and indeed it seems I was a little ungenerous. It turns out that there were four limpers, and, finding herself holding A-K, she made it 250. Everybody checked the Ks Kd Jh flop, until Rick Trigg bet 450 from the button. The gent in Seat 1 flat called and Jen check-raised to 1,500. Trigg insta-passed, but Mr Seat 1 reraised to 4k. Jen passed faster than a cheetah stealing a hot potato or some other kind of nonsensical mixed metaphor, and was rewarded by Mr Seat 1 showing her Kh Jd. I take back all the unkind things I said about her. Title: Re: DTD Monthly £300 Freezeout Day 1 - At A Glance Post by: NoflopsHomer on August 02, 2008, 09:00:07 PM 'Reggie' Perrin has suffered early at the hand(s) of Simon 'Chubbs' Nowab. Perrin limped with another player limping the button and the small made up with Chubbs checking.
Qd 2c 3s was the flop and it was checked to 'Reggie' who bet 225 into the 200 pot. Chubbs was the only caller and was warned, "Don't be calling me with 4-5!" A possible action creating Qc appeared on the term and Nowab again checked with 'Reggie' again betting 225, but this time Nowab raised to to 575 with Reggie calling. The 4c came on the river and now Nowab bet out 1,550 and Perrin said, "You know I'm calling," which he then did. Chubbs showed Qh 7d, the most average hand in the game, but good here. "Show your kings then," he added. And Perrin did flip the Kc Ks. Meanwhile Ali (http://www.blondepoker.com/blondepedia/blondepedia_view_player.php?player_id=23) Mallu (http://www.blondepoker.com/blondepedia/blondepedia_view_player.php?player_id=23) has typically been in the thick of all the action as usual. "I got Mallu-ed" said PI Nick (http://www.blondepoker.com/blondepedia/blondepedia_view_player.php?player_id=309) Slade (http://www.blondepoker.com/blondepedia/blondepedia_view_player.php?player_id=309). But Mallu since busted out. Aggressively betting a Td 6d 4s 9c 8d the whole way but being called by Ts 6s which was good against Mallu's one pair. Mallu exited soon after, so quickly that we missed the hand completely. Title: Re: DTD Monthly £300 Freezeout Day 1 - At A Glance Post by: danafish on August 02, 2008, 09:04:16 PM By the way...

Calling a raise from the small blind with 4 other players also putitng 250, he proceeded to check/raise all-in on a 8s 4s 3c flop for 5,150 after the OR bet 600 and was called in one spot. The big blind thought long and hard before folding, while the OR and the caller also passed. The OR stated, "Hardest fold of my life, I had kings." Someone else piped up increduously, "You folded kings?"
During this, Jelinek quietly stacked the almost 50% additional amount of chips to his stack. Anyone else snap-calling here? Title: Re: DTD Monthly £300 Freezeout Day 1 - At A Glance Post by: danafish on August 02, 2008, 09:28:05 PM Ms Lucy Rokach, not on the player list owing to her being a late entry, is down to around 6.5k. She bet 1.5k on the river of an A-rag-rag-T-Q board and was called by the gent to her right. Lucy was holding A-J, and her caller was holding the altogether superior A-K.

Not entirely sure what happened, but he was somehow all in on the river of a 2s 2h 9d Td 5d board, up against Mr Stuart Langford. Langford turned over Kd 2d for flopped trips and a rivered flush, and Mr Nicholls just mucked, although I'm fairly sure I heard him mutter, "I had a flush and all."

Jen Mason is now OUT, a victim of the unnamed lady in seat 9. Jen flat limped in with A-9 on the cutoff, the small blind also called, but Seat 9 Lady in the big blind made it another 500. Two calls. Flop: 8d 9d 4d Seat 9 Lady bet out 1k, and Jen attempted to make it 3k but Seat 9 Lady pointed out that only one of her extra 1k chips had crossed the line. Min-raise it was. Seat 9 Lady called. Turn: Js Seat 9 Lady checked, and Jen bet 3.5k. Call. River: 5h Seat 9 Lady checked again and Jen went all in. Seat 9 Lady called, and her pocket Queens sent Jen to the cash game and my 5% to sorry oblivion. Nice start for Karabiner, he just doubled up, getting it all-in with Kd Kh against Qs Qd on a Kc Qs 7d board which couldn't catch the elusive 1-outer. The gentleman in seat 4 on his table bet 3k on the river of a Td 3c 8s 2c 6c board, only for Mickey to make it 6k. After some consideration, he laid it down. Mickey showed Qh Jd for absolutely nothing.
Here he is, with chip envy from Mad Turk: (http://blondepoker.com/gallery/main.php?g2_view=core.DownloadItem&g2_itemId=19312&g2_serialNumber=1) Title: Re: DTD Monthly £300 Freezeout Day 1 - At A Glance Post by: NoflopsHomer on August 02, 2008, 10:14:46 PM Chili got a bit short early on, but she doubled up through Mad Turk after raising with K-J and him calling, Turk set Maria in on the turn of a K-5-2-5 board and she made the call, Turk's 2-4 offsuit not looking in the best of shape.
Elsewhere, the big stack between Red Dog and Wick Twigg (Maria has been moved), a 25k pot being created with all the money in on the turn of a Kh 9h 6d 9d board between Aspades Kc and Kh Qc. No queen on the river. Meanwhile Tikay has won a pot! The turn and river of the 3s 8d 7s 4h 8c board were checked down and our Fearless Leader's tens were good. I caught it on the river, the board reading 4h 8c 3h 5d 5c. Mr Gosney seemed to have checked to Mr Sharpe, who bet 2k. Gosney very nonchalantly threw in a bunch of green chips, enough to cover Sharpe, who called all in.

Mr Mid Position raised to 625 and Mr Neville called from the big blind with pocket Fives. The flop came down J-8-8 and Mr Neville bet out 1,200. Mr Mid Position went all in for around 6k and Mr Neville insta-called ("I insta-called, insta-called") and indeed Mr Mid Position was very far behind with A-K.

Title: Re: DTD Monthly £300 Freezeout Day 1 - At A Glance Post by: danafish on August 02, 2008, 11:25:09 PM A few chip counts, in the absence of any major action to report:
The Thewster: 9k The Lam-master: still on a starting-stacky 10k, and with Mickey Wernick now on his table The Mickster Wernickster: 25k Leknavester: 7k and sharing a table with ChipRich Chiprichster: 12.5k The Karabinster: just 3k. Mr Karabiner's almost total lack of chips is down to the doubling-up of Mr Barry Neville. Mr Neville raised with pocket Eights in the small blind and Karabiner woke up with Aces in the big blind. He called. The flop came Q-8-8, two hearts. They saw a turn, which was another heart, and although Karabiner suspected that he may well be behind by this point, he was holding the Ahrt for a flush draw too and they got their chips in. Yikes. Mr Neville = ludicrously happy; Mr Karabiner = not quite spitting with rage but if he were a less polite man I imagine that that might be the sort of thing that he could conceivably be doing around now. Title: Re: DTD Monthly £300 Freezeout Day 1 - At A Glance Post by: danafish on August 02, 2008, 11:29:49 PM Another recent exiteer is Mick Jones. Not massively sure how it came to this, but he got his chips in with 7d Qc on a Th 7h 4s flop. His opponent was holding Aspades Tc and the Ts turn and 2d river were absolutely no help to Mr Jones.

His opponent said, "I have a flush," flipping Ts 3s. "Oh well, that's enough," said Billy, "Good luck everyone." Horneris has doubled through, Greek Jack had made it 700 and Brent moved in for 5,250 from the small blind. The big blind called all-in for around 4,000 or so and Greek Jack agonised before folding what he said was A-K. Brent: 7s 7h Big Blind: Ac Jd Board: Qh 5h 5c Qd 9s Brent, "I flip good." Title: Re: DTD Monthly £300 Freezeout Day 1 - At A Glance Post by: danafish on August 03, 2008, 12:39:22 AM Mr Red Dog is off back to his kennel with his tail between his legs. "I played a hand badly," he sighs. A bunch of people limped in on Mr Red Dog's big blind, so he raised to 1,000 holding 5-6. To his consternation, he got three callers. The flop, however, came down 5-2-4, so he bet out. One gentleman called. The turn was a King, which they both checked, and the river was a Queen. Mr Dog says he knew that what he should have done at this point was go all in, but what he actually did was check. Mr Caller checked behind, and his Five out-kicked Red Dog's. A few hands later and he ran Kings into Aces, and we are down one dog. He claims to be going home now, although he was just taking a stroll by the cash tables first, just to watch, of course.

Lawrence Gosney raised from the button and Jim Moult made the call from the small blind. An interesting Jd Th 9h came down and Moult checked, Gosney bet around 4k into a roughly 2.5k pot and Moult immediately moved all-in for about 13,350. Gosney dwelled for a bit before essentially calling for his tournament life with Ahrt Ac with Moult not totally unsurprisingly flipping Kd Qc for the nuts. The Ad suddenly opened up a few possiblities for Gosney but the 5h immediately slammed them shut and Jim Moult is up to almost 30k with Gosney down to 1k. Incidentally, does anyone else think Gosney has to check behind on this flop? As played, he will end up doing all his chips on the turn but the flop is so terrible for his hand that he has to keep it small and just call a turn bet on a safe card before re-assessing the river? Greg 'Junior' Hill, has just been knocked out, I don't think he really got going tonight. Title: Re: DTD Monthly £300 Freezeout Day 1 - At A Glance Post by: danafish on August 03, 2008, 02:46:49 AM Tales From Table Tikay
Yes, who'd've thunk it, Sir Kendall is still in, and full of things to say. One thing he told was that there were six limpers on his big blind to which he thought, in his own words, "If only I could squeeze here but I've only got a little willy you see," so he checked it. The board came down X-9-T-J-Q, checked around all the way. --------- Meanwhile, there are two limpers in the form of John Mcmillan and David Mundle, and Tikay makes up the blind. Mr Rick (http://www.blondepoker.com/blondepedia/blondepedia_view_player.php?player_id=375) Trigg (http://www.blondepoker.com/blondepedia/blondepedia_view_player.php?player_id=375) checks. Flop: 4c Kc 9h Tikay checks, and Trigg bets out 1,200. Mcmillan makes it 3.5k and both Mundle and Tikay get out of the way. Trigg calls, and then bets out 5.5k on the 3c turn, forcing Mcmillan to fold. More interestingly though, during this exchange, Mr Trigg has taken delivery of a large, meaty sausage in a pair of plump buns. Title: Re: DTD Monthly £300 Freezeout Day 1 - At A Glance Post by: NoflopsHomer on August 03, 2008, 03:10:54 AM Paul Hardy just can't stop hitting stuff, if he doesn't get it on the flop, he always has it by the river. Early he made a big shove on a 7-6-4 board with 9-8 against 5-3 only to catch a 5 on the river for a 25k pot. Now he managed to get another big pot, getting in against another stack with Ahrt 6c against Th 7h on a 8h 6h 2h board, but when your luck's in, then the turn Jh is good news and of course you're going to avoid the straight flush river redraw when the board pairs with the Jd instead. He seems to be our chip leader with maybe 70k, perhaps even more.
