Title: DTD Monthly £300 Freezeout Day 2 - Interactive
Post by: NoflopsHomer on August 03, 2008, 02:55:06 PM
Hello, we've awoken from our beds, a little weary but ready to watch play recommence. Players are being 'debagged' as we speak.

Just finished catching up on yesterdays thread and 2 points spring to mind:

1. Great reporting  :)

2. Lack of norkage :(

No doubt we can expect no.1 to continue in the same fashion and no.2 to make a drastic improvement today.

Good luck to all Blondes still in including Grandad Ole TJ.

He said he'd prefer "Mr Kendall Sir" but I'm ignoring that too.

Talking of Uncle Tikay, he just moved all in for his entire 19.2k to a 3.2k raise from Gary Dee. More or less everyone else at the table spent a good deal of time mulling it over before folding, and eventually Dee folded too, showing the Ac. Tikay claimed pocket Queens, but actually showed pocket Nines. Must be his eyes going at last.

And we have an exit already in the shape of Gerald Mcinally. A good night's sleep seems to have revived Mr Paul Hardy's goldenness, as when Mcinally open-shoved the 2c 5c 4s flop, big bind Hardy called instantly with 5d 7s. Mcinally needed to hit with 3c Jc, but the 7h turn and Kh river did absolutely nothing for him and he is now probably heading home, or propping up the bar, or the cash game, or similar.

Paul Hardy has lost a few chips early on after he raced his Ad Kc against 7d 7s of a short stack, the board coming out 8s 8h 4d Jd Ts. On the next table Tikay was smarting at passing his pocket threes preflop as Gary Dee with Tc Ts and Carla Goddard holding Ac Qd. The latter managing to double up to over 20k when the board ran out 9h Ahrt 3c 9d Kd.

Mr Hardy has now in fact suffered a bit of a disaster. Not sure what happened, but the board was reading 5-6-A-7-X, Hardy was holding Kings, and Michael Humphries was holding A-7. As a result, Hardy is down to 30k and muttering something about wanting to get paid with Kings, while has cemented his chip lead like a caffeined-up bricklayer with an appointment to get to and is now on 120k or thereabouts.

A cruel counterfeit has scuppered Terry Brown's plans for the day. All in on the turn of a 4-4-2-9 board with pocket Threes against Chris Cancelliere's A-6, the second Nine on the river seemed a bit harsh, but regardless, he is gone.

Scouser Michael Humphries is on almost 125k now, having raised to 4.8k from early position. Basharat Mahmood re-raised to 20k from the button with 25k behind and when it got back to Humphries he moved in. Mahmood tanked for a bit before passing.

Matthew Wadham has lost a load of chips after he moved in on a a 7h 3c 2s board but was called by the shorter stack's 8s 7s which made two pair on the 8d turn for a 60k pot.

Last remaining woman Debbie Fox is out after running jacks into aces, while Xie Zhenru, the scrabble player's favourite, has been knocked out with eights against Lee Rawson's kings.

Tony Salmon has doubled his short stack through Mikal Blomlie with Ks Qs against 7d 7s on a Qd 9d 8d Kh 5s board.

Tikay is out, he pushed from the small blind, Chris Cancelliere quickly called from the big.

Tikay, "Oh. Are you sure you want to call?"

Chris, "Yeah, sorry," flipping over Tc Td as Tikay showed 8d 6d.

The board brought all sorts of potential for Tikay but he couldn't overtake his opponent as it ran out 4d 9d 8s Ac 7h. 19 players remain.

Mr Ginikachukwu "Ctrl V" Izuogu is doing rather well. He checked a 9c 7s Aspades flop to Rick Trigg, who bet around 10k. "That's a big bet," said Izuogu, and called. They checked down the Td turn and 5c river, and Rick turned over Ks Ts for a flush that never happened, while Izuogu had unexpectedly been sitting on Kc Kd. "You're a tricky f**ker," said Mickey Wernick, to much jollity from the rest of the table, except for Trigg, who looks like he's having some kind of jaw spasm.

Rick Trigg just lost a 90k pot after Tom Grundy button raised and Rick re-raised from the small blind. Tom pushed and Rick made the call.

Tom: Aspades Jc

Rick: 6c 6h

Wick down to about 35k or so. Grundy up over 90k.

Mickey (http://www.blondepoker.com/blondepedia/blondepedia_view_player.php?player_id=283) Wernick (http://www.blondepoker.com/blondepedia/blondepedia_view_player.php?player_id=283) checked to Mr Ginikachukwu "Ctrl V" Izuogu (I just ctrl-v'd that whole thing) on a 3d Jc 7c 6s board, and then called Mr Ginikachukwu "Ctrl V" Izuogu's 5k bet. He also check-called 11k on the 3c river, to which Mr Ginikachukwu "Ctrl V" Izuogu cheerfully announced, "Ace high." Mickey turned over 5d 5h for two pair, and is consequently up to around 70k.

-----------------

FInding himself actually in possession of some chips, the Leg End has started bullying his table. A still incredibly disgruntled Triggmaster Rick raised to 6.4k from the cutoff and then disgruntled-ly laid it down to a 20k reraise from Mickey in the small blind. Mickey showed 5s 6h. This is doing nothing for the Triggmeister's disgruntlement.

Chris Cancelliere raises preflop and gets 3 calllers including Michael Humphries, as well as the two blinds. They see a 3d 3s 8h flop and Cancelliere bets 15k with Humphries the only caller. Cancelliere slows down on the 8s turn and this time his Scouser opponent bets 15k and Cancelliere folds. Humphries is the chip leader with approaching 200k now.

Mickey Wernick bets 5k on the river of a Qd Js Jc 7h Qh, Wick sighs and calls and Wernick shows Qc 8c. Trigg down to 24k and looking fed up.

Ginikachukwu "Ctrl V" Izuogu has suffered a bit over the last hour or so. First Tom Grundy re-raised his opening of 6.5k to 20k and he quickly folded, Mickey Wernick did the same just now but this time Ginikachukwu "Ctrl V" Izuogu called the re-raise but quickly passed to Mickey's immediate move all-in on the Js Td 3d flop. He's down to about 40k or so while the Worm is up to around 150k.

Players are on a 10 minute break.

We believe the below gent to be our friend Tony Salmon, proving he's not such a fish.

He reraised all in to a preflop raise from Matthew (http://www.blondepoker.com/blondepedia/blondepedia_view_player.php?player_id=2572) Wadham (http://www.blondepoker.com/blondepedia/blondepedia_view_player.php?player_id=2572). Wadham called, and Salmon was leaps ahead all the way.

Wadham: Ac 7h
Salmon: Ad Qs

Board: 3d Ks Js 6d Kh

Michael Humphries raises to around 10k, and Gary Dee moves in for another 25k or so. Humphries now goes into the tank, and eventually emerges clutching a pound coin. "Heads or tails?" he asks the table, but nobody seems to want to get involved. He silently chooses, and flips the coin. "Call," he announces.

Oh deary me.

Dee: Ahrt Kh
Humphries: Ad 9d

Oh deary deary me.

Board: 3d Jd 9c 2s 3c

Mr Gary Dee is therefore most unfortunately OUT.

Double up now for Matthew Wadham against Ginikachukwu "Ctrl V" Izuogu, the former moving in for around 38k over the top of the latter's raise with kings and Izuogu calling with eights.

Board; 5-5-Q-9-7

Wadham much more comfortable on about 75k.

Mr Ctrl V Izuogu moves in utg for 26k, and the Gigantic Stack Of Wernick feels that it can spare the call from the button.

Izuogu: Ad Qc
Great Wall Of Wernick: 8c 8s

Board: Ac Tc 5s Qh 7c

"Woo! Back in the game!" says Mr Izuogu, who grinned right after I took this photo, but has somehow managed to maintain his icy cool during the photographic process.

Mikal Blomlie and Lee Rawson get it all-in preflop.

Blomlie: Aspades Qh

Rawson: 9h 9d

6h 4h 2s 3s 3d

Rawson doubles through leaving the dispassionate Scandie all-in the very next hand.

But somehow Blomlie doubles up in a 4-way pot. The board reads Ad 7c Ac Ts Kc and Joe Daoud bets the river with Qs Js taking a small sidepot, Blomlie shows Ac Kd for the rest...

We will be ctrl-v-ing no more, as Mr Ginikachukwu Izuogu is OUT. Mickey Wernick raised to 10k utg and Mr Ginikachukwu Izuogu reraised all in, but found himself in a spot of bother with A-K up against The Wall Of Wernick's A-A. A King on the flop offered a glimmer of hope, but that was all, and Mr Ginikachukwu Izuogu has left the building.

When you're as short as Philip Clarke and facing a raise from the very aggressive Chris Cancelliere, you'd expect that your 5s 3s would at least be live, but not when Cancelliere shows 9s 5d

The flop came out 3d 8h Js and suddenly Clarke felt better...

9d

He hung his head and got up to leave...

3h

Only to sit down again and somehow survive. The picture doesn't show it here, but he's a very happy man.

Mr Tony Salmon has tipped the scales a little on The Great Wall Of Wernick.

He raised to 10k preflop, and Mickey flat called, before shoving the 8d Kc 9s flop. He couldn't poach Mr Salmon's chips, though - Mickey turned over K-Q but Tony turned over Aces. No change on the Th turn or 3h river, and it's a double helping of chips for Salmon.

Joe Daoud moves all-in for 20.4k. Lee Rawson makes the call from the small blind before Chris Cancelliere moves all-in from the big blind. Rawson folds his pocket fours face up and Cancelliere flips his Aspades Kh which is in fine shape against Daoud's Ad Jc.

A 8s 2h Jd 3d 5s board later though, and Daoud has trebled up to over 60k and the bubble period continues.

He raised preflop, and found a caller in big blind Matthew (http://www.blondepoker.com/blondepedia/blondepedia_view_player.php?player_id=2572) Wadham (http://www.blondepoker.com/blondepedia/blondepedia_view_player.php?player_id=2572). Wadham bet out 8k on the 2c Kh Jc flop, and Langford made it 20k or so. Wadham then moved in for 51.6k total, and Langford dwelled up before folding. Wadham showed Jd Ts, and I believe I heard Lagford mutter that he'd passed a King...

After doubling up with A-J against Humphries, Joe Daoud moved in again to a raise from Humphries, who folded. "You don't want to double me up again?" said Daoud. "Same hand..." and flipped A-J.

A few hands later, Daoud open-shoved preflop, and Humphries called. Daoud was once again holding Ahrt Jc, but this time Humphries was way ahead of him with Ac Kd. No surprises on the 9d 3d 2c 7h Qc board, and ladies and gentlemen, we are in the money. Hand for hand play will continue, however, until we are down to final table.

Good lord, this has been a super-fast final day so far, and indeed we are already down to our final table. Latest casualty = Mr Gary Orme, who shoved with Kh Qs, and got himself called by Chris Cancelliere who woke up with Ad Kc on the big blind.

An exciting but fair Js Tc 3d 6s 5h board, and Mr Orme is OUT in 10th place, and we will very shortly be starting the 9-handed final table on the nice table at the front of the room, with the swivelly chairs instead of the regular ones so that final tablists know they've hit the big time.

The First Five Hands In Words And Pictures

Grundy open-shoves utg +1, and gets himself some blinds.

----------

Tony Salmon makes up the blind, and Chris Cancelliere checks.

Flop: 7s 6s 9h

Salmon bets out 10k, and Cancelliere makes it 27k. Salmon makes it All In, a total of 90.6k. Call.

Cancelliere: Qd 9c
Salmon: not looking good with Jh 9d

But the turn: Tc
And the river: 8s

Yikes. Double up for Mr Salmon.

-----------

Wadham goes all in on the cutoff, earns blinds.

-----------

Ward raises to 20k utg, and gets those tasty blinds.

-----------

Chris Cancelliere raises to 16k on the cutoff, and Daniel Ward calls.

Flop: 4d 5d 8s

Cancelliere moves all in. Call.

Cancelliere: Aspades Kc
Ward: 2s 2c

Turn: Jd
River: Kd

Mr Ward thumps the table in rage as he doubles up Mr Cancelliere, while he himself is down to the felt.

Oh the non-stop craziness...

Three-way all-in between Matthew Wadham, the short-stack Daniel Ward in the small blind and Lee Rawson in the big blind.

Wadham: Ac Kc

Ward: Js 8h

Lee Rawson: Ks Kd

8c 2d Td 6h Jh

Ward wins the 30k or so main pot and Rawson takes home the much larger sidepot while Wadham is left with just a bowl of rice.

----

Wadham shoves the very next hand and Mickey Wernick calls in the big blind without looking, Wadham shows 8c 8d, Wernick flips Qc 2c but the board favours the short stack coming Kc 7c Kd 6d Js and Wadham doubles up his meagre amount of chips.

----

Next hand it's passed to Tom Grundy who moves all-in from midposition. Stuart Langford moves all-in behind him and everyone else runs for cover.

Langford: Kd Kh

Grundy: Errr, Qd 7d

Kc Td 8d ("Awww, don't do it" says Stuart) 2c 4d.

Grundy has Langford covered meaning Stuart Langford is out in 9th place winning £696.

In not massively surprising style, Dnaiel Ward moved in before he got eaten by the blinds, and it couldn't have been much worse for him.

Ward: 8c 4c
Matthew Wadham: Ts Th

Board: 9c 9d Ahrt 6h Kh

Thus Daniel Ward is OUT in 8th place winning £870.

Tom Grundy not only runs good, he flips good too. He moved in from the button and Lee Rawson moved in from the small blind with Mickey Wernick folding the big blind.

Grundy: Ac Tc

Rawson: 9c 9d

6c 3h Ahrt 5h 8c

Rawson has Grundy covered by literally five or six thousand and is all in the next hand which Grundy raises and Michael Humphries calls from the big blind.

They check the 8h Ac 4h 2h Jd board where Grundy announces "Queen high" and Humphries shows 3c 3d for the side pot.

Lee Rawson, having called all-in blind, flips first the Kh then....5d so Humphries takes the main pot also.

Lee Rawson is out in 7th place winning £1,218.

Michael-On-Michael Action!!!

Mickey makes up the blind, and Michael Humphries checks. They see a 2s 7d 6d flop, which Mickey checks. Humphries bets 16k, and after some consideration, Mickey folds, showing A-J which he had presumably intended to play sneakily. Humphries shows Qc 2h.

Cancelliere makes it 22k utg and Humphries calls on the button. Big blind Tony Salmon, however, spoils the party and goes all in for 140k total. After some dwellage, Cancelliere folds, and so too does Humphries, showing A-J.

Mr Salmon, we hope rather happier on the inside:

Btw NAS members, I have been doing my best, but I'm afraid that when I asked to take this lovely valet's photo, a gentleman insisted on muscling in on the photo with her. Emergency exit sign above his head purely coincidental.

Btw is anyone else loving the fact that the valets have to wear the legend "DEEPSTACK" across their bosoms?

Can't say that i'd noticed       ;whistle;

Mickey Wernick raises to 20k from the small blind and Michael Humphries who likes to play flops, calls from the big blind.

Ac Kc 8s

Check check.

5d

Mickey bets 40k and Michael folds.

---

Next hand and Michael limps in against the shortest remaining stack Matthew Wadham who checks his option.

They see a flop of 6h 4d 2s which Michael check/calls a bet of 10k before leading out for 15k on the Qc turn. Matthew moves all-in over the top for an extra 39,100 and the Scouser looks distinctly unimpressed by this turn of events, he folds and Wadham is back over 100k.

I believe that's the 'slightly' boisterous Con Cronin.

Current chip counts:

Wernick: 190k
Wadham: 100k
Salmon: 150k
Grundy: 125k
Humphries: The Rest Of The Chips - reasons to be made clear in just one moment

Chris Cancelliere moves in on a 7c Jc 4c flop, and Michael Humphries calls him.

Humphries: Jh Qc
Cancelliere: Jd Kh

Turn: 7h
River: 9c

Chris Cancelliere is therefore OUT in 6th place winning £1,566 while Giganto-Stack Humphries is up to around 500k.

Says it all really:

Play has restarted with 5k/10k/1k blinds and antes and with Michael Humphries' lead, it's hard to see anyone being able to catch up at the moment.

Chip counts at the break - thank you thank you lovely DTD people:

Mickey Wernick -- 200k
Michael Humphries -- 542k
Matthew Wadham -- 111.5k
Tony Salmon -- 130.5k
Thomas Grundy -- 176.5k

Incidentally the awesome 25k orangey-gold chips have appeared on the table. Ooooooh.

And no sooner are they back than another one bites the tournament dust.

Mickey Wernick raises to 30k on the button, and big blind Matthew Wadham announces all in. Call.

Wernick: Aspades Qc
Wadham: Kh Ts

Board: Jc Ac 4h 3d 2d

Thus, with much gentlemanly handshaking and a cheery, "Right, who's going to give me my money?" Matthew Wadham is OUT in 5th place winning £2,262 and Mickey is up to around 300k.

Mickey Wernick just stubbed his toe check/raising Tony Salmon all-in on a Qc 6s Qd board, Salmon quickly called with Qh Jd whilst Wernick could only show 9c 6c. "Club, club please," asked Wernick and was almost rewarded by the 8c on the turn but it was followed by the Kd on the river and Wernick had his stack cut in half.

Our super-mega-hyperspeed final careens on, and we have another casualty.

Mickey Wernick makes it 30k from the small blind, and Michael Humphries calls.

Mickey checks the Qd 9s 7h flop, and Humphries goes all in. Insta-call.

Wernick: 7s 7c
Humphries: 6h 8h

Turn: 5d
River: 6d

Therefore with some understandable disappointment Mickey Wernick is OUT in 4th place winning £3,132.

Michael Humphries seems to be more or less unstoppable, although he might pause every once in a while.

He raised to 35k on the button only for Thomas Grundy to go all in from the big blind. He briefly considered it before announcing, "Go on, I'll get you in a minute," and folding.

Tony Salmon and Tom Grundy see a 5c 5h 3s flop where Salmon check/calls Grundy's 12k bet before both check the Qs turn. On the Qd river, Salmon again checks and Grundy bets 30k now and Salmon folds.

Hmmm....

Michael Humphries who is quite curious of us doing 'live poker hand histories' raises to 35k from the button and Salmon makes the call. Grundy folds and dashes off to the toilet faster than people running to the buffet at GUKPT Newcastle.

Jh 6s 3c

Salmon leads out for 41k and Humphries folds quickly.

Incidentally, there's been no talk of any deals, and with Humphries' stack, it seems unlikely there will be one.

not that I like to comment on a players 'play' or 'style' but I shared a table with this rooneyesque gent on day 1 and he seemed to be permanently jammed into 'auto-call', sucking out for fun! he'd probably prefer to pass a kidney stone than top pair!

good luck to him though, it clearly works!

Tom Grundy moves in over the top of Michael Humphries button raise and the latter makes the call.

Grundy: Kh Kd

Humphries: Aspades Jd

3c 8s 9c 5d 6h

Grundy on roughly 400k, Humpries drops to about 500k.

---

Soon after Tony Salmon is all-in on a 8h 4d Ahrt flop with Ad 3d but Humphries is holding Ac Tc, the turn and river are 6h and Ks.

So Tony Salmon is eliminated in 3rd place winning £4,698.

---

This left us heads up and immediately the two chatted about a deal. Michael Humphries was happy to play on or deal and left the decision on Grundy who thought about and agreed to deal.

Tom Grundy will pick up £8,939 by chip count whilst Michael Humphries is the winner taking home £10,375 and more importantly, the Dusty Bin trophy!
