Title: is it ever possible to fold here?
Post by: cambo on August 06, 2008, 12:14:42 AM
£30 double chance at ur local casino, 4k+4k 60ish players, top 4 payed. 11 left ur on the 5 handed table ur utg with 42k with blids at 1.5/3k ave is 30k , supervisor at the start of the hand say we will be playing 2 1.5/3k levels cos the ave is 30k, we look down at jj, we make it 8k to go.

button shoves, for 35k, , k first off reasons for asking this are -we know everyone at the table weve played with them atleast once a week for the last 3 yrs and know there games inside out all are semi reasonable tight solid players where with the final about to start there not gonna re steal without a decent hand, ur pretty sure ur flipping here, aq ak. maybe an under pair...

thought process is we can win this pot and cruise to atleast 3rd min without any trouble if we win this pot, this would be the first time ive been all in in for the whole comp, other reasoning is if i do pass i know ill get away with rasing at least 3 outa 5 pots pots till we get to the final (unless i walk into a monster)

with the blinds this shallow is there ever a case for folding?

no 50ps

Fold if you hate money, With 10  x bb I am probably playing this hand open shove too & pray for a call to flip & double.

Read the title- Thought no you can't fold

Read we had jj with 14bbs in a non bubble situation - Thought no still not folding

Read we has a read on villian that his range include underpairs - Zomg give me the jj and i will call with it.

In conclusion i snap call and smile.

Future actions are often overrated imo and you better off playing each hand to maximise your EV. Winning players gain their edge by making calls like this, not leaving themselves with 11bbs in a crapshoot reckoning they can outplay the table.

obv i called and lost the flip, just with the players i had at the table i knew i could build a reasonable stack without calling there and take a flip nearer the money. i dont think i can ever pass that

How is 14bb shallow?

Don't see how you can fold here, unlikely they have you at 20%, I'd say you're either 80% or 53% most of the time so you have to call.
