Title: Virgin broadband? Post by: Jim-D on August 07, 2008, 10:36:11 AM Wondering if any body has had any problems with them?
I live in a rented house which has no landline (currently using mobile broadband) I don't need a landline as all my calls are from my mobiles, So a pal told me that i could get fibre optic broadband from virgin with out the need for a BT line, I checked my postcode and i can get it no problem and the deals look to be fairly competetive Any reasons why i should not sign up? Title: Re: Virgin broadband? Post by: kinboshi on August 07, 2008, 11:15:53 AM I've been with cable (was ntl, now Virgi (http://travis.bosscasinos.com/re.asp?name=POK&camp=REF5111_0&go=http%3a%2f%2fwww.virginpoker.com)n (http://travis.bosscasinos.com/re.asp?name=POK&camp=REF5111_0&go=http%3a%2f%2fwww.virginpoker.com)) for 5 years.
The connection has been excellent. It's more expensive than some BT alternatives, but I don't mind paying for a reliable service. I've had a few problems recently, and they've said they're going to have to put in some new lines to increase the capacity in the area - so I wasn't happy that they've just thrown more users on the existing infrastructure and now it can't cope. Hopefully that will be sorted ASAP. Their customer service is diabolical. Call centre in India that are absolutely useless. Also, they billed me the wrong amount 6 months on the trot. So their main service (the broadband) is fine - all the other stuff is terrible. So, if you can avoid calling them for whatever reason, and they bill you the right amount, then you'll be OK. Title: Re: Virgin broadband? Post by: xxMAIRxx on August 07, 2008, 11:23:29 AM The Virgin broadband connection is excellent, and rarely problematic, only times I have had outage is when they are doing maintenance in the area, and really thats not a lot at all and usually done during the night.
I have to agree on Kin's explanation of their Customer Service, it is diabolical if you have a broadband problem as they have re-routed their call centre to India and they really do not have a clue and its frustrating. Their billing and upgrading services etc are still UK call centres. Overall it is worth going with them for the speed of their broadband and quality. Title: Re: Virgin broadband? Post by: Graham C on August 07, 2008, 11:23:48 AM +1. We've got Virgin Broadband and have hardly ever had a problem with it. Highly recommended.

Post by: fatshaft on August 07, 2008, 01:55:34 PM I have to agree on Kin's explanation of their Customer Service, it is diabolical if you have a broadband problem as they have re-routed their call centre to India and they really do not have a clue and its frustrating. Their billing and upgrading services etc are still UK call centres. However if you go for the UK call centre (0845 454 2222) they are excellent. The 1111 number is the old NTL support, whereas the 2222 is Virgin's own. Virgin I have always found to be excellent, they need to sort out thje NTL shit though, it's dragging them down. Title: Re: Virgin broadband? Post by: Colchester Kev on August 07, 2008, 01:57:00 PM Ntl/Virgin broadband is the nuts ... just pray that you never have to call customer services however.
