Title: Enough chips to fold?
Post by: PocketLady on August 07, 2008, 04:23:59 PM
$20 double stack on iPoker.  Blinds are 50/100.  Just been moved table so not much info on players.  Big stack villan (16k) limps in mid position followed by another caller.  You have 3k and wake up with  Ad Qc on the button and make it 500 to play.  Long pause, villian flat calls, other limper passes.  Flop comes  Qs 5c 2d.  Villan checks, you bet 800.  Villan then re-raises you all in and he has  Aspades  Ac

So my question - obviously I like the flop, but once I get repopped I know there's a chance I am up against something like a set or a slow played overpair.  If I was sat with 6k+ I know I can probably get away from this, but can I pass with only 1700 behind?  Am I over-committing myself pre/post flop?

Played it fine assuming you got it all in. There is no way you can pass, ppl have  Kd Qs, Qc Js etc far too much to ever pass here.

Yeah guess I'm probably being too picky really.  I just don't like calling my chips away with the worst hand, especially when I have a feeling I'm probably losing.

You can pass if you know you're behind but you can't possibly make that assumption here.

1700 with the blinds as they are is still just about playable so the answer to the OP is yes you have got enough chips to fold.

Given the cards you've got though you always want to get everything in the middle and your oppo has just gifted you that opportunity so you must call.

There's no way in hell I am passing here, let alone you. Especially on iPoker. KQ-QJ-Q10...hell, even A3/A4 gets played like this at this point in the tourney.

Like I said earlier, trust you to run into the one player who can play at the table.

No way are you laying that down.  Most likely they have a flush draw...

Don't see how you can get away from this. He's disguised his hand well and you could easily have him crushed, KQ, QJ etc.
