Title: Nope, No more - Not EVER!!! FACT Post by: Newmanseye on August 10, 2008, 03:19:26 PM Last night was the last straw, After a month of up's, Downs bad beats & sick draws I have finally decided to call it quits with On-line poker.
Without tutelage i just can't get profitable, The defining line for me is I cant adjust to the time limit & that forces me to make bad decisions, mistakes & in return I tilt up & play bad ( probably worse ). I also realised I just do not enjoy on-line play as much as Live play. Live Games bring a lot of banter and I get more time to piece together hands when I have a difficult decision to make, I also focus on studying my opponents more in a live game, Its just easier, where as On-line I seem to get bored about 2 hours in to a session, rush decisions, and i don't study the avatar on the screen. For those of you that make a steady living at this game on-line I doff my hat to you all, I wish I could do it but I think I have proved to myself its just not for me. If I have time I will participate in the occasional blonde game on-line for a laugh but it wont be too serious for me. As I type I wonder why i am posting this but it could help someone else in a similar predicament i suppose and that would make it a worthwhile post. There is one thing I would like to add, After playing on various sites and i have Un-installed 8 so far and 3 more to go, In my experience i found that the Blonde poker room is definitely one of my top choices to play on, I am shocked there are not more people playing on the site, Blonde customer service is beyond what you would expect from a small poker room, the games are reasonably soft, Even I made quite a few final tables. Anyway that my tip for the year - Play on blonde - Gl Guys & see you at the next bash. Title: Re: Nope, No more - Not EVER!!! Anyway that my tip for the year - Play on blonde - Gl Guys & see you at the next bash. Billy, I was the same a few months back, stopped playing online altogether, I know Laz did the same. It can be a bit cazy at times, however I recently returned, this time with a different mindset. You, like myself, can be a very aggressive player and when taking a hit you try to get the chips back in a hurry, ultimately making the wrong decisions, I did the same. I 100% agree with your comments on blonde, since returning to online I stick mostly to blonde, have come really close, I usually play the 12.5k and 35k tourneys and of course the donklament, however I am much more patient, I realise that too often the "big hands" arrive online, the AK vAA V KK and that more often that not the guy with QJ off or pocket deuces is going to take the pot. I too prefer the live game and whilt I haven't got the bankroll I do ok in the limited games I play. I use other online sites for the sats only. Don't give up on it mate, especialy blonde, pick your tourneys and bide your time, it will come. There are some decent tourneys on here that needn't cost a lot,as I said the 12.5 and 35k are good touneys at not a great price. Regards ive poker, get your arse through to Edinburgh more. Even a few weeks with a decent programmer working on it could improve it 100%. Dougie. Title: Re: Nope, No more - Not EVER!!! FACT Post by: Geo the Sarge on August 10, 2008, 07:20:10 PM Lol,

FACT Post by: WYSINWYG on August 10, 2008, 09:09:39 PM I played til recently in a very major online cardroom and was pretty amazed at how lacklustre their graphics were and that they didn't have any kind of timebank feature. I play on a couple or rooms now that do have this and I like it. Sometimes you are in a big multiway pot and you have to make a delicate decision for a lot of money (to me anyway) and 20 seconds just doesn't cut it.
An option I used for a while was to have TV/film going on in the background. This stopped the phases were I was so bored I would start to force the action just to entertain myself. It also means I don't dread sitting down at a table because of the boredom factor. Don't get me wrong: I love poker. But it's just HOURS of the same screen that I can't stand. Becoming a site whore (ahem) did help a lot. Also switching to different formats and games helped a bit. I definitely agree with the social aspect of the game and live play. I did play a big online tourney the other day and got very deep, which brought the game to 3 hours. 3 hours of interacting with about 40 different people, from all over the world, united by the common love of a game. The only banter I saw in all that time was 'Nice river noob' and 'F*** you'. Lovely. Title: Re: Nope, No more - Not EVER!!! FACT Post by: fergus8 on August 11, 2008, 05:51:14 PM "party gaming shares took another huge hit today on the london stock exchange, as news filtered through that billy the fish had quit online poker. The news has shook the gaming industry and other players pockets harder than the credit crunch, a spokesman for party gaming has said that the company is 'devastated' and new plans to expand 'need to be shelved' in order to balance the books.
Other players have also commented on this black day, boba fett, an esteemed poker semi -pro* has said, 'this is a real bankroll buster, billy the fish was my bread and butter and eh fish'. Another couple of players, cambo and hairydude, are worried about the knock on effects of billy the fish playing live, cambo said 'billy was always good for a double up, he was like the robin hood of poker', hairydude added 'if we were on the bubble of a tourny, billy would always volunteer to take the bubble boy spot, he will be missed'. Though it has all been devistating to a lot of people, billys poker passing(which he never actually did....ever)will hit one young man in particular, his name is tony 'manuel' barcelona. Manuel was billys prodigal son, even though he is twice his age, manuel is well known in glasgows poker rooms as a card-sharp*, and believes billy has taught him everything he knows, including the now legendary five pounds bet that manuel just calls 'fie'. Manuel has said 'billy has shown me a lot, how to string bet repeatidly, how to bet, fold and more commonly call out of turn, though the best thing billy the fish has ever taught me was how to get it all in drawing dead or incredibly thin. thank you billy.' * [ ] Title: Re: Nope, No more - Not EVER!!! FACT Post by: Hairydude on August 11, 2008, 10:07:56 PM The funniest one I've ever seen was at the wabash about 2 years ago- we all know he donks off so much paying way over the odds chasing flush draws and 2nd pairs etc but this time he actually had a rock solid hand and took the sickest beat I've seen Live.
There was a bit of raise, reraise, reraise, call action, the flop came Queen high, Tony put in a big bet and his opponent called, the turn was an Ace, tony checked the guy put in a large raise, tony reraised all in making the pot about £400, the river was a Queen; they hadnt turned the cards yet so the dealer says turn them over- tony gleefully says, I Got trip Aces, opponent turns over pocket queens for Quads. His face was a picture- he never even got angry, he just kept looking at the cards and couldnt work out how he had lost, it took a few seconds to realise Title: Re: Nope, No more - Not EVER!!!
