Title: Changing Virgin Flights Post by: 77dave on August 11, 2008, 02:12:52 AM Does anybody know the best and cheapest way to change dates of booked return Virgin flights while in Vegas.
I have just tried to change online but with no joy. Is there a way to do it online or do I need to go to the airport to do it or is there a number to phone?? Thx Title: Re: Changing Virgin Flights Post by: Laxie on August 11, 2008, 02:33:21 AM Tried doing a search for you, but says you must go here to sort yerself:

Thx Jim, drive to the airport and ask at the Virgin desk. Even on a non-flex ticket I am led to believe they will help, particularly if they flight you want to move to is empty or away from is busy... You were lucky :) When I phoned them up, it took about 30 minutes, at the end of which my 'nominal fee' was 3300 pounds. "Shall I go ahead and make those changes for you now sir? Sir? Sir? Click....." Title: Re: Changing Virgin Flights Post by: RioRodent on August 11, 2008, 04:39:22 PM Not entirely relevant to OP, but another example of Virgi (http://travis.bosscasinos.com/re.asp?name=POK&camp=REF5111_0&go=http%3a%2f%2fwww.virginpoker.com)n (http://travis.bosscasinos.com/re.asp?name=POK&camp=REF5111_0&go=http%3a%2f%2fwww.virginpoker.com)'s methods... and may be of interest to anyone hoping to get an upgrade -
On my return from Vegas in May, I enquired at the check-in about getting a Premium Economy upgrade using airmiles.... Me: "I would like to upgrade to Premium Economy using some of my airmiles." Check-In dude: "Yes Sir, let me just check which fare you have." Tap, tap, tap on keyboard... Check-In dude: "Sorry Sir, you have an 'x' class ticket, this is non-upgradeable, you need a 'y' or better ticket." Me: "I just booked online, I put in my dates, it gave me a price, I paid it... no one askes if you want 'x' or 'y' or whatever." Check-In dude: "No, you have to request a flexible ticket." Check-In dudess: (who has also been tapping a keyboard) "We do have one PE seat left, if you would like to pay £289 we can upgrade you." Me: (looking at Check-In dude) "But, but you just told me my ticket was non-upgradeable??" Check-In dude: "That's right Sir, not with airmiles... however, you can pay for an upgrade." Me: (whilst thinking, "GFY!!") "It's OK, I'll sit with the poor people, thankyou for your time... have a nice day now." Now, on my return home I decide to see how much I can save by booking an upgradeable ticket... here is an example (current prices on VA website... Note: this was back in June) - 14 - 22 Oct 2008 Economy Lowest: £591.60 + 2000 airmiles 'x' class (£659 cash only) Econony Flexible: £1679.60 'y' class (not available as 'miles + money') PE Lowest: £1358.60 'x' class So if I want to be able to upgrade on the return leg, I need a flexible ('y' class) ticket... which will cost over £1000 more than the cheapest fare plus 10,000 airmiles... or for £300 less you can just book and go bothways PE!!! Bargain!!! Something of a co-incidence that the 3300 was the same as the full price on the website that day also. I asked if my admin fee was basically 'buy more tickets' but was assured for that delightful price it wasnt a new ticket, just an admin charge. I started asking why the admin charge wasn't a fixed amount then, but I was already bored with the guy and had wasted half an hour of my life with him already. When I told others of my woe, they assured me that regardless of flex/non-flex, the desk at mccarran would normally sort it out for a 50 admin fee. So I still haven't managed to change flights myself yet, but plenty of others have had success doing so. I have a more flex schedule in line for my next trip in Oct, so no doubt will find out first hand what the airport desk experience is like... |
