Post by: ScottMGee on August 11, 2008, 02:07:39 PM
£1/£2 NLHE Cash at DT (http://www.dusktilldawnpoker.com/)D (http://www.dusktilldawnpoker.com/) 4 or 5 handed.

starting stack £190 approx.

Cards Ks 8s on BB.

Preflop raised to £7, SB calls, I call (3 players)

Flop - 9s 5s 5h

SB bets £20, I call, Button Calls.

Turn 8c

SB bets £40, I call, Button raises All in.

SB folds.

I have about £113 left.

Call or Fold?

Fold Pre.

I hate these "stuck in the middle with nowhere to go" spots. SB keeps betting out so must have half a hand (though he folded to he probably only had top pair A9 or something like that) , Button is showing he's not scared to take on 2 players..I reckon when you call the £40 you've already decided you're not going anywhere...I call now..but would have folded the turn sb bet

Don't like it myself, I'd fold to the £40, certainly to the all in.  I'd have folded preflop too.

How much is his all-in and what was the small blind's starting stack?

both players had slightly more than me, hence the stacks in play as it were are £190 each.

Assuming he's got you beat, I'm not sure you've quite got the odds. Could also be drawing dead. One for the mathematicians, but I'd fold.

You have to pass here. The minimum he has here is a 5. You're drawing to 20% at best, and could already be dead.

£113 call into a pot of approx £275 is what like 2.5 to 1 and hard to believe you're not a 4 to 1 dog.

Call pre is fine. Perhaps raise the flop? Turn is a harsh card for you really.

I don't like the call pre flop but think you would need to call now, you have the flush draw, the king and always a chance he is bluffing

If he's raised to protect I'd guess he's got a 5 in his hand.

If he's ahead of you now with a hand that you can't possibly beat then he's played badly by trying to scare everyone off.

I'd say he's either got a 5 or he's on the nut flush draw.

If he's got the 5 then you've got all your outs so you might hit your flush, if he's on the nut flush draw then you've got 2 of his outs so he's hopefully going to miss.

Worst case (other than the full house already). 1 of them has a 5, the other has the nut flush draw and calls. Than you're screwed.

I'm not sure how this works out but it doesn't look too good.

Probably fold but I don't know if I could.

Thanks for all your replies.

After some consideration, my thoughts where its £113 to win about £314(2.8 - 1).

I discounted him having a full house, because the raise all in makes no sense.

This leaves him with

a) he has a 5 - this means I have 10 or 11 outs (9 for the flush & 2 eights) - I may have deduct 1 out for his boat!
b) he has a flush draw - this means I must be ahead as I have the 8
c) he has a straight - this means I have 12 outs (9 for the flush & 2 eights & 1 five)
d) he has an over pair - this means I have 11 outs again (flush and 2 eights)
e) a complete bluff

at worst I should be 11/46, i.e. 3-1.

Allowing at least 10% for the flush draw, over pair or bluff I felt I had the odds to call and I called.

River Card was the Ts

He claimed to have a straight ( 6 7) and folded when I showed the flush.
