Seem to have loads of spiders in my house at the moment, I'm pretty scared of them My girlfriend is pretty scared of them.  Anybody got any tips for getting rid of them?

FFS Araknafo aracnoph arachno fear of spiders sends me on life tilt, I live with a woman and 3 kids that all freak out if a fkin tiny spider is spotted anywhere in the house, I just laugh and sigh and pick the spider up and put it in the garden saying "FFS look at the size of it and the size of you, it aint gonna fkin eat you is it !!"

If we lived in Australia I might be able to understand it .. does my head in.

I hate spiders My missus hates spiders too.  Our daughter loves them, we get her to grab them now, but we do the bit with a glass first.   The other day she woke me up with a huge spider to show me (in a container).   

Thats what I tell her mate, but she has none of it.  The ones knocking around my house are medium huge, I guess i could set traps for them...

How cute, my missus would go wild if she showed her a spider even in a container, as i dont have irrational fears i would be fine with it...

I don't 'freak out', I simply leave the room, fast, feeling physically sick, and stay out (usually holding the door shut) until you have captured the disgusting thing. I know it's irrational, but that doesn't stop the fear of them!

As for the daddy long legs thing, they are flying spiders as far as I'm concerned. Well it's anything that even resembles a spider in any shape or form or pretty much most creepy crawlies tbh...

Pre Kev, I used my Dyson as my spider removal system, nice long handle so you don't have to get too close and powerful enough that it rarely didn't get the beast. Usually followed by a handful of rice that I believed acted like bullets... have to ensure they don't crawl back out!

This is my front door peep hole from a few weeks ago.  A nice juicy fat spider resting in there.  I nearly lost control of all bodily functions when I held my eye up to the hole and just saw legs and more legs.  I may have screamed also Ned Flanders stylee.

Over here in Oz we use some napalm like substance each year which kills everything in the house thats below cat size! :)
Nothing like waking up in the morning and being confronted with the picture below (usually the size of your hand and bloody quick)! the only good thing is they eat the red backs which can do you some harm.

At my mum's house the other day there was a 5-legged spider hanging down over my seat - was having a bugger of a time spinning it's web because it was lopsided - never seen anything like it before!

OMG!!! i was put on life tilt yesterday! Whilst driving to the local for the poker i was confronted by a big juicy Huntsman that came out of between my window and door and proceded to crawl accross my windscreen. Im driving down a busy duel carrageway and im shit scared of tiny spiders nevermind one the size bottom of a pint glass! I managed to grab something to splat the living daylights out of it, and its remains are now smeered all over my windscreen! Almost crashed the car and was physically shaking until i squished it! Went on to win $260 total at poker finishing 1st and 2nd in the two games i played.

It's bad luck to kill a spider.  Don't say you haven't been warned.

We never kill them.  Ever.  There's a very large one living here somewhere in our house and we have an understanding.  He stays out of our way and he's left indoors.  When he shows himself, he's picked up and taken outside.  Only for the lil darling to find his way back in again.  We had a couple living on the windowsill in our back yard and they were HUGE.  They hid behind a window box full of flowers.  I always took care when watering that window box so I wouldn't disturb them.  Not sure what happened to them, but they aren't there any more.  Pity, because they kept flies out of our kitchen in the summer.

Actually, that's huge compared to ours.   rotflmfao  We wouldn't be too thrilled to see something that size!  Still, it would be put outside without killing.  Call me superstitious, but it's considered very bad luck to kill em. 

I love spiders - the missus isn't so keen, although she gets less hysterical when she sees one now.

When we were in Japan, a Giant Wood Spider set up home at the end of our house.  Bloody big spiders, and the web was enormous!  I'm going to have to see if I can find any of the photos I took of it.  In the meantime, here are a few someone else prepared earlier.

The spider who moved in next-door to us fed primarily on cicada.  They're pretty much very big flies, several inches in length, and they sit together in trees and make a very distinctive noise.  The sound is as though it's being made by something electrical.  If you watch any Japanese film, they have the noise of the cicada in the background.

You can see why the spider is so big if it's eating them all the time.

I had a spider about the size scurry over my bedroom wall and behind the wardrobe once.  I never did find it, so convinced myself it was a hallucination :D

Get a Rottweiler with a fascination for anything that scurries quickly across the floor.

I was actually (prescription drugs that is), hence it made it easier to justify the possibility I had imagined it :D

Yea the spider in my car was a tad smaller than the one behind the clock!! It sure wasnt laughing after i splatted its guts all over my car windscreen!!

This isnt a joke, there are bloody loads of them in my house!!!  Just found another two of the buggers!  killed 4 already!

The house is on Colchester garrison ... imagine all the hardware they have knocking about there ... send the Ghurkas in obv.  they will catch the little incy wincy spider.

I like the way hubby's run off to Afghanistan just to escape, whilst his good lady is left to sort out the infestation.

I've seen Arachnophobia.  Within a week Colchester will be overrun.  Essex will be a no go area by the end of the month.
