Title: partouche poker tour grand final
Post by: Royal Flush on August 27, 2008, 04:29:06 AM
Starts on Wednesday in France, i am thinking of going but it is dependant on selling shares.

Imagine the GPT but even weaker given its all French players!

The buyin is €8500 i am looking to sell 10% shares for €1350, so just under 1.6 which is pretty generous given the standard.

I would need this all locked up by the weekend in order to sort travel and accom.

Cheers!

happy to play for stacks with AQ.......good luck boys............(not my blog by the way)

After dropping down to just under 20,000, my A10 beat by a short stack's QQ, I eventually found what I was looking for 10 minutes from the end of play. I raise to 3100 utg with AK. James Dempsey re-raises to 9100 on the button, he is playing around 25,000. I re-raise allin, and he calls with AQ. Just under a 40k pot, if I win this I am comfortbale going into day 2. Unfotunately the first card out was a Q and that was that. I love poker sometimes.

lol funny thing about that it was against Pommo!! Who was obv pfr'ing in the 20's

AQ was maaaaaaaaaaasive.

Dung lifetime i am over 2.5 so selling at 1.6 in a weak field with a slow structure is way above fair.

Title: Re: partouche poker tour grand final
Post by: DungBeetle on August 31, 2008, 12:47:20 PM
Why are you selling anyway if this field is so weak?

Conceded Pomroy's opening range < AQ.  Was a bit tipsy last night and just trying to stir up some trouble in a juvenile way ;)

Anyway - good luck (still think 1.6 is outrageous though:) )

I think this could lead to some jokes......

"the French Deck

Our modern 52-card deck of playing cards is commonly known as the "French deck," having been altered and modified through centuries of play. This style of card is used worldwide with some slight variations. In the United States, we are familiar with the Anglo-American style of the deck. The face cards, from lowest rank to highest, are labeled "J" for Jack, "Q" for Queen, and "K" for King.

Here in France, we are getting used to their own traditional variation on that format. Face cards, from lowest to highest, are ranked "V" for Valet, "D" for Dame, and "R" for Roi. During our reporting, we will be using the Anglo-American lettering for face cards, to avoid any confusion."

I got Kings....shit jacks!

Third Pair No Good
Just before the break James Dempsey took a few chips off an opponent. Dempsey was sitting on the button and bet 300 into a multi-way limped pot after a  Kc 3s Td    flop was dealt. Only a player in middle position called before both players checked through the  5d turn.

The river brought  Qc  prompting Dempsey to bet 500. His opponent insta-called with   Tc but it was no good to beat Dempsey's   Qd 7d

Dempsey up to 25,000 now.

Flushy's Flush
The flop was out and looked like  5h 8s 4c   . Three players still had cards and one of those was James Dempsey who bet 900 when it was checked to him on the button. Both his opponents called so the turn was dealt as  3h .

This time a player in middle position bet 1,000 and only Dempsey called before the river came  7h . Once more the player in middle position led out for a 1,000 bet but Dempsey raised to 10,000 that time, enough to put his opponent all in.

His opponent snap-called and showed an eight but it was no good against Dempsey's  Kh Qh  for a flush.

Dempsey up to 32,000 now.

Nice Flop

James Dempsey's stack had dwindled down to about 30,000 before he made a standard raise from middle position. He found a caller in the big blind before the flop came {3-Clubs} {3-Hearts} {6-Clubs}.

It was checked to Dempsey who continued his aggression with a 3,050 bet. His opponent promptly made this 7,000 to play. Not deterred by this move, Dempsey re-raised up to 23,000 signaling his intent to play for his whole stack. The message must have beamed across loud and clear as the big blind player duly folded.

Dempsey told me after wards that he was holding {4-Clubs} {5-Clubs}. So, not a bad flop to play back at an opponent!

Raising Machine
James Dempsey is in the middle of a chat with Glen Chorny about how much the Englishman has been raising today when Demsey finds another hand he likes enough to raise and it happens to be into Chorny's big blind. The raise is to 3,000 and finds a call from the player in the on the button before the short stacked small blind goes all-for 13,600.

Chorny folds before Demsey tries to isolate and shoves over a big stack of 5,000 chips. It works as the player on the button folds to leave it heads-up. Dempsey tables   and his opponent winces and we see why as he reveals  .

The dealer takes us all the way to the river on this one     .

A set of nines good to see Dempsey rise up to 129,000 while his opponent takes the walk of shame out of the room.

Im not enjoying Rookie updating Flushys stack....

seeing as tho 95% of Rookies posts on Blonde are bad beat hand histories i always find myself fearing the worst.

Is Moorman busy?

"150,000 in Chips Down the Drain for 'Flushy'

James 'Flushy' Dempsey just went from having 150,000 in chips to none in a matter of minutes, sparked by one pivotal pot that left him with less than 26,000 in chips.

The pot saw Dempsey make it 5,500 to go from the button and Philippe Rottemberg made the call from the big blind. The flop came {Q-Clubs} {Q-Spades} {2-Clubs} and Rottemberg opened with a 6,000 bet. Dempsey then raised to 20,000 and Rottemberg re-popped it to 40,000.

Holding {6-?} {9-?} and on a complete bluff, Dempsey moved all in putting his opponent to a decision for all of his chips. Much to Dempsey's dismay, Rottemberg made the call with {K-?} {Q-?} and Dempsey was drawing dead.

The hand that dealt the fatal blow came shortly after when Flushy announced 'Tapis' and slide his stack, worth 23,000, across the betting line. Joseph Balvay opted to call and the rest of the table folded.

"I've got three outs . . . I just don't know which three," Dempsey said as he tabled {A-Diamonds} {5-Clubs}. Balvay then revealed {J-Spades} {4-Spades}, saying "I like greens!" in reference to Dempsey's four stacks of green chips that were up for grabs.

The {8-Spades} {9-Diamonds} {Q-Spades} flop was a poor one for Dempsey, as it gave his opponent flush and gutshot straight draws.

"That's a good flop . . . I'm a big fan," he said, sarcastically of course.

The turn brought the {7-Clubs}, at which point Dempsey got out of his chair and said "Well played," as he misread the club for a spade. After a double take, he regained interest in the river which brought the {J-Hearts}, giving Balvay a single pair and the best hand.

"Well played," Dempsey muttered again, as he wished the rest of the table good luck and exited the tournament area."

Big talk, 2 French guys make him take walk La Croisette. This I like.

Decent run anyway - with your style these hands will happen.  Live by the sword die by the sword and all that.  Good chance missed though from the sound of it though (this isn't a rubdown by the way).  Is this an annual event?  Haven't heard of it before.

Is it part of a tour or just a one off event.  Can we play Partouche amongst the vineyards of Avingnon or the historic venues of Normandy? ;)  I assume as this is GF it must be - their equiv of UKPT?

put Lawrence Gosney in the same category - I made a play on him with a 234 board at Bolton whilst he was holding a big overpair.
He only dwelled for 30 seconds before calling my all in with KK - FML!

mais oui - it was a limped pot v good chance could have hit with A5 for wheel on flop.

No complaints I missed my 7 outs and wouldnt play the hand that way again.
