Would have been interested if he had expanded on playing loose in the early game as this is a topic of much controversy still in sngs as to whether this increases your roi, or just increases your varience. Title: Re: He's Back!... Post by: fergus8 on September 01, 2008, 02:08:44 AM good read, btw what is the correct play to his trivia at the bottom?
i fold the j7 on the bb to a push i push on the button with 97, id push on the button blind tbh Title: Re: He's Back!... Post by: thetank on September 01, 2008, 02:10:54 AM Headed in the right direction, much better than the last one, this article might actually help people.
Going to try be constructive again... I found it a bit waffly. Title: Re: He's Back!... Post by: fergus8 on September 01, 2008, 02:14:08 AM is it not intentionally meant to be a bit waffly so you have a taste of what hes got to say and go buy his book or whatever to find out more?
just how i see these small pieces Title: Re: He's Back!... Post by: thetank on September 01, 2008, 02:18:03 AM I suppose it could be.
Not to my tastes though, I prefer an article to have a narrow focus and explain something well. That'd make me more inclined to buy book or whatever. Each to their own though. Title: Re: He's Back!... Post by: fergus8 on September 01, 2008, 02:20:12 AM lol no custom here either
Title: Re: He's Back!... The j7 hand is a call if sb is pushing over 66% so in some circurmstances it is a call. The 97 is a super standard push. Title: Re: He's Back!... Depends on the flow of the match as pushing ATC is not inexploitable (top 50-60% is) but yeah against most opponents im shoving blind. Title: Re: He's Back!... Dare I say the best on Blonde. Title: Re: He's Back!... I haven't read any other articles but if that's the case then blonde must have some shoddy articles! Title: Re: He's Back!... Post by: TheChipPrince on September 01, 2008, 03:59:58 PM Thought the article was 'ok', but when i'd finished the page i was like 'yep, and wheres the rest of it', he was about 1/4 of the way through what he could have discussed, or so it felt...
Title: Re: He's Back!... Post by: bolt pp on September 01, 2008, 05:53:18 PM pretty much what everyone else was saying.
Longy: "solid", true but you cant but help feel it was pointlessly solid. Tank: "headed in the right direction", from what i understand about the last one wasnt difficult. chipprince summed it up really: "where's the rest of it"? A recreational SNG player with a +ROI% could've done as good a job it seemed It left me thinking it was alright, but why bother? Title: Re: He's Back!... He has a bucket by the side of his desk - he collects his meta in there and simply weighs the bucket at the end of the month to find out how much he has. Title: Re: He's Back!... Title: Re: He's Back!... Post by: The Dean on September 02, 2008, 02:35:48 PM Jesus......you guys are hard to please on here but I love the challenge.
Firstly let me say that I write for a large number of outlets and each has varying levels of sophistication when it comes to the readers and users. I write high-stakes theory on limit holdem for the 2+2 internet magazine and that differs widely with regards the audience to a magazine like the WPT for instance or Flush. I suppose it is the same with forums so I will try to make my stuff more advanced and focused in future and less generic in nature. As for the picture, that was taken some time ago during substantial home improvements so to judge someone on a picture is silly, if I had all of my computers side by side would that impress you more ::) The Dean Title: Re: He's Back!... Post by: thetank on September 02, 2008, 02:39:29 PM I think we're just having a bit of fun with the picture Dean, nothing serious.
More advanced and focused stuff would go down very well with me. Looking forward to it. Title: Re: He's Back!... Post by: The Dean on September 02, 2008, 03:38:50 PM Ok Lads.....fair do's
I think I have an idea of where to come from with regards the next one but its difficult when your target audience has such a wide difference in ability and knowledge but I will come at it differently next time. The Dean |
