Villian is what I would call typical TAG playing several tables, He is very tight pre flop not getting involved if he doesn't have to.  Whats the best course of action when he bets the turn?? Did I make a mistake checking ??.... A check raise looks v strong here after I 3 bet pre so does it make sense to to call instead here? If a raise is best, whats the correct amount?

thks

A check call looks as strong as a check-raise here.  If he is drawing to your set, then you're giving him the opportunity to see a free card - and if he misses you don't get anything from him on the river.

If he thinks he's ahead, you might as well check-raise now - to £35?  If you call, are you going to get anything else out of him on the river?

Of course, you could be losing, but that happens and you stack off and reload.

Out of interest, why did you check?

Its a good question :)  ...I planned on check raising, but changed my mind at the last minute thinking I would lose my customer... pretty sure this is a mistake tho even against a tight player

I don't mind the check raise you have to mix up your play

If you flat call then you have to lead the river, so I prefer a raise here cos if he calls you might also score a call on the river bet...

I dislike the turn check. You want to keep the initiative and build the pot. Too often our opponent will check behind a medium tpgk type holding and the pot will be far smaller on the river. You want to stack him, without history/reads that he spazzes in 3bet pots ip down the streets (rare) just bet 12 on the turn setting up a psb on the riv. c/ring advertises you hand where it will be hard to get full value given your range in his eyes is nuts or monster.

this is a good idea to keep him there......
but letting him see a next card for cheap could put you on the back foot if he raises then you dont really know where you are........

but i would have called anyway with trips i think because nothing better is sticking out really.

Yeah I think I made worst of 3 options by check/calling... And as above I think check rasiing looks like a monster although isn't terrible, I think firing again would of been best, as def getting value from his kx hands which I think he has a lot here, and as Alex says he may check these behind.... I did get 3/4 pot bet out of him on river but he showed 99 for underset, and I'd missed out on around 60bb... wp me :(
