Title: Cascarino Scores at Bolton Post by: snoopy1239 on September 08, 2008, 02:01:54 AM Congratulations to Tony Cascarino for his win in the latest GUKPT main event in Bolton. I used to chant this guy's name from the Holte End at Villa Park, so it's quite something to then update him winning a poker comp a decade later.

Title: Re: Cascarino Scores at Bolton Post by: SuffolkPunch on September 08, 2008, 09:10:51 AM I assume you did not wear your "salmon" shoes in the Holte End. If you did you would probably not be here with us today!
Nice result for Tony, by the way! Title: Re: Cascarino Scores at Bolton Post by: lazaroonie on September 08, 2008, 10:39:29 AM nice to see he is decent at something, cos when he was at celtic he couldnt have scored in the proverbial barrel.

Most excitement per minute I've seen from any player in one game though. Cascarino - desperate to score his first goal - gets brought on as a sub at Celtic Park against Hearts. Celtic break up the park & the other forward (Coyne IIRC) squares to ball to Cascarino, open goal & he kicks the ground, getting a slight impact on the ball which begins trundling, vveerrryy sslloowwllyy toward the goal. I swear the whole support in the Celtic end behind the goal were trying to sook the ball in. Is crosses the line (just) & we celebrate wildly. Hearts kick off, move up the park & get a corner, corner taken Cascarino punches a Hearts player in the box, penalty & a red card. On for about 1 minute, one touch, one goal, one red card & one penalty - got to be a record. (BTW I think Bonner saved the pen). To be fair to him he was the first to acknowledge that the two incidents i had mentioned were in fact the highlight of his time at celtic. I think his actual words were something like 'i done f*** all else when i was there!! great bloke at the table table tho and well deserved IMO. To be fair he was swapped for Tom Boyd - who went on to be a great player for Celtic. Title: Re: Cascarino Scores at Bolton Post by: ariston on September 09, 2008, 06:03:13 PM in deauville a few years back he sat on my table for quite a while with 2 french blokes constantly chattering away in french and discussing hands against the english bastards etc. He didnt say a word until one told his mate he was going to make a move and try and bluff tony. He called and then in french informed the cheating frenchman where the rail/bar was which was highly amusing (tony has a french wife and obviously speaks very good french).
we all thought it was funny anyway Title: Re: Cascarino Scores at Bolton Post by: AlexMartin on September 09, 2008, 06:33:34 PM in deauville a few years back he sat on my table for quite a while with 2 french blokes constantly chattering away in french and discussing hands against the english bastards etc. He didnt say a word until one told his mate he was going to make a move and try and bluff tony. He seems a decent bloke and a good enough player too, might have to get his book. Hopefully Titus Bramble will take up the old cards when he retires. |
