Title: WSOPE schedule
Post by: Chompy on September 11, 2008, 11:20:01 AM
Having one NL Hold'em event that costs less than £10k to enter is a step forward on last year but still a long way off what they should be offering imo.
Is four events really enough, especially when two of them won't appeal to the masses and when the other is out of most players' price range? I would never cough up ten bags for one tournament.
I'd guess two thirds of the WSOP's 60-odd events are NL Hold'em. Wouldn't it be sensible to do something similar here? Have five straight hold'em events imo, Mon-Fri, all three-day jobs and use two venues if needs be.

its the WSO POKER not WSO Holdem

Most people should be priced out imo, that's the point.

Why should poker be made so elitist Flushy? I'm curious

Some people have the ability but not the finance, and in any other game/sport no matter what your background you can compete. Why is poker any different?

lol - have you ever looked at the cost of competing in a lot of sports?

The equipment in some has a pretty hefty price tag - and that's before you have to shell out for the constant travel, accommodation and entry fees.

EDIT: and if you really want to get good the cost of a coach

You seem to be overlooking the cost of ipods, white-framed plastic shades, hoodies and baseball caps imo

Poker shouldn't, this is just one event. We should have events every now and then that are 90% top players so that they can compete without the donkey fluctuations that come from smaller events. The $50k horse is the best example.

lol its harder to get into motor racing than poker...

They are trying to find champions imo. Those that have already gone through the levels and reached the pinnacle, thereby allowing themselves the ability to buyin. Of course you get rich ppl playing around out of their league in any sport, but the stake needs to be high enough to appeal to the best. but obv ept london with added money is a better event anyhow.
