Title: Lets Cheer Ourselves up.... Post by: Rooky9 on September 15, 2008, 09:14:35 PM Tottenham have a knack of starting the season so poorly - how do they do it so consistantly?!!
Title: Re: Lets Cheer Ourselves up.... Post by: Colchester Kev on September 16, 2008, 12:06:04 AM Sigh .. As with every football supporter, when the fixtures come out you look at you first 6 games and work out what kind of a start you are looking at ... Boro away, Sunderland at home, Chelsea away and Villa at home ... you would have got some price that we would have 1 point and that was gained away at Chelsea !!
Really at a loss tbh, I hated the fact that we sold Keane (well documented on the blonde boards) .. I hated the fact that we had to sell Berbatov, I was gobsmacked that we signed a keeper who was prone to David James type calamaties, yet a million miles behind him in ability, i mean ffs, we played PSV over 2 legs and the bloke flapped at everything, only thing he got right over both legs was the penalty saves !!! Bent is no good in Premier league, he has no bottle, he can produce in friendlies when defenders dont give a shit, but when it matters he just aint good enough. Yes we have an exciting midfield but as creative as they are, you need someone with an ability to put the ball in the net ... Another fucking long season of mid table mediocrity begins. Still we might get a cup run going ... does the year end in 1 ?? ... oh no its the points column next to Tottenhams name that ends in 1. I must also add, villa were outstanding tonight ... defensively they never put a foot wrong, and Agbonlahor is frighteningly fast ... If they keep relatively injury free, they will be top 5 this season imo. Title: Re: Lets Cheer Ourselves up.... Post by: TheChipPrince on September 16, 2008, 12:10:48 AM Cheer up Kev, I mean you could have Burnley for the championship then you'd be really upset! Oh, imagine that!

Title: Re: Lets Cheer Ourselves up.... Post by: Colchester Kev on September 16, 2008, 12:39:31 AM I had to go to Colchester today, (bit of a family crisis, all sorted now) I have not long been home, I spoke to my son on way home to discuss the result and as usual i got the "FFS Dad, why did you make me a Spurs fan" Always makes me laugh when he says that, and I always reply "Supporting Spurs is an illness, it is hereditary. You will make your children suffer and they will make their children suffer"
He did cheer me up no end though with this pearl of wisdom that gave me a tiny bit of hope ... "We are only 3 points behind Man Utd, I will take that come the end of the season" Good lad Sam !! And there are moments I wish they could improve, but then I shake it off get back to enjoying their pain. Title: Re: Lets Cheer Ourselves up.... [ ] When buying a Brasillian, buy a goalie or a defender. (I know this one from bitter experience). Title: Re: Lets Cheer Ourselves up.... Title: Re: Lets Cheer Ourselves up.... Post by: Acidmouse on September 16, 2008, 11:05:03 AM I know I harp on about Bent but he will always score goals even in a shit team. I would like to see his shots per game / goals score ratio. From what I read he's had very few chances. He will always score more then Keane :)

Title: Re: Lets Cheer Ourselves up.... Post by: The Baron on September 16, 2008, 11:07:37 PM Spurs really really need a mature holding midfielder. Huddlestone has alot to learn and may yet turn into a quality top flight player but Barry controlled most of the game last night. Then you need a decent striker and another centre half.
Title: Re: Lets Cheer Ourselves up.... Post by: ShatnerPants on September 17, 2008, 09:36:43 AM All joking aside, Spurs have a decent enough squad. Ok so they could do with 2 or 3 more quality additions, but who apart from Chelsea, couldn't ? But their squad is shed loads better than Stoke Sunderland WBA Bolton Wigan West Ham Fulham and Hull, and possibly another 3 or 4 teams as well.
When Ramos first arrived the first thing he did was get the lads fit enough to compete for 90 minutes, then he gave them the structure so it was tough to score against them. Within weeks they went from laughable no hopers to a competative, side, capable of taking on anyone. Even losing Berby and Keano that shouldn't have changed that much. I haven't watched them yet this season, so I don't get what's wrong. Obv the keeper is potentially part of the problem. Have they got lazy and tired again ? Title: Re: Lets Cheer Ourselves up.... Post by: Rooky9 on September 21, 2008, 04:57:13 PM spurs v newcastle on we'd should be a top quality game... Not.
Title: Re: Lets Cheer Ourselves up.... Post by: ShatnerPants on September 22, 2008, 02:50:47 PM I seriously heard someone from the media asking whether Ramos's job is safe.

Title: Re: Lets Cheer Ourselves up.... Post by: Colchester Kev on September 22, 2008, 04:04:30 PM as long as they bring him back before they even think of bringing Gooner Graham back ;)
Title: Re: Lets Cheer Ourselves up.... Post by: Rooky9 on September 28, 2008, 06:40:36 PM After Kev's empathy yesterday I am almost reluctant to bump this thread...
Two massive games for Spurs v Hull ans Stoke coming up. 4 points minimum surely. I really don't understand how they are so bad, some v good players. I always like to see JJ drop a clanger - but from someone stupid enough to parade round in personalised JJ 7 clothing, then moan about being recognised and living in a goldfish bowl, this should really be expected. Title: Re: Lets Cheer Ourselves up.... Post by: Colchester Kev on September 28, 2008, 06:43:42 PM Shocking performance AGAIN ... really dejected with football at the moment.
How people get paid shit loads of money to put 11 players on a park without any shape or clue is bewildering to say the least. Title: Re: Lets Cheer Ourselves up....
