Title: Re: BBC 4 is really amazing tonight Post by: lazaroonie on September 23, 2008, 09:45:14 AM For anyone interested in the events of 1968, then you simply must read "The cold six thousand" by james ellroy. The timeframe in this very long book is the day of JFK assasination right up to the assasination of Bobby Kennedy.
It is a work of part fact part fiction - it contains all the major protagonists of the time - MLK, howard hughes, sam giancana, jack ruby, james earl ray. You might struggle to get to grips with the staccato writing style, but those who persevere are rewarded with a fantastic read. the greatest book I have read ? quite possibly. I'd complain if I were you - if even just to prove they don't listen to what you tell them is wrong - having spent 2 days trying to get my connection fixed I can tell you that Sky would give you some rubbish explanation and tell you to turn the set on and off a couple of times. With hard drives in these machines of around a terabyte, space isnt really much of an issue.
