Tom, Lucy's Son, told me that Lucy & himself have been immensely grateful for the tributes to Brendan on here, every Post means a great deal to them.

I told Tom of the Memory Book, & he was overwhelmed. It will be passed to Lucy & him at the Funeral.

I asked if it was his wish that some of us could attend - his reply was that Brendan considered blonde, & indeed APAT, to be his extended family, & "the more the merrier".

So, if you can be there, please do. It would mean a great deal to Tom & Lucy.

To assist those who may be attending, could one of our techier Members maybe google the address, & print up directions to the Church on this thread? Thanks.

For those requiring the general locale to see if they can get there, Crawley is near Gatwick Airport, & Worth is, I assume, a district of Crawley.

Tikay,  have Tom and Lucy said anything about whether floral tributes and/or charitable donations are welcomed? (I thought it would be nice if we could sort out something blonde/poker related for him).

I'm sorry Claire, I completely forgot to ask - as you can imagine, it was not the easiest of conversations.

I had plannned to take a wreath, but perhaps I'd better ask first.

Tom is speaking with Colch Kev right now, but I'll ring him shortly & ask about flowers, & Post the answer on thread.

Tom says that either flowers, or donations, would be equally welcomed.

More than anything, he'd just be pleased if some of us were there.

I will post Links to he Charity to whom donations should be made, & the Funeral Director's address (for flowers to be sent) very shortly.

I know the Church as i went to school at Worth Abbey just the other side of the motorway, if you are coming from the North its very easy to get there:

Junction 10a, turn right at the top of the off ramp, back across the motorway, follow that road you go over quite a large roundabout then just after this there is a right turning take that and you are at the church.

If you wish to make a donation, rather than send or take flowers, this was Brendan's chosen Charity. It is a bona-fide Registered Charity.

British Kidney Patient Association.

Their Website is here....

http://www.britishkidney-pa.co.uk/

The Site includes an Online Donation clickable link, prominently displayed centre right on the Home Page.

Just be aware that 10a is only a 1/2 junction, you can only get off from the north and get on heading north.

Having real trouble finding the correct postcode for Sat Nav, the closest I can find is RH10 7RS. That postcode takes you a little further up past the church turn off (which is on Worth Way), but I would think that the church is going to be easy enough to see by the time you are this close.

I'll keep looking, might find the correct postcode later.

Just to elaborate on Flushy's directions, after you turn right, i think it is Church Road but i will check tonight, you need to take another right turn which takes you to the church.
It is actually only about 1/2 mile from where i live so i can get exact road names and post them here.

I didnt know Brendan and never met him so would feel uncomfortable about attending the funeral but my thoughts will be with his family on Tuesday.

No, after Gatwick you have the Crawley turn off, then about 1 mile further on is junction 10a

Looking at the sat map, it looks like parking is very limited ... however there looks to be plenty of parking on nearby streets.

just had a bit of a google and it looks like you can park on the lane leading up to the church

There is not a lot of room to park, but yes you can park on the lane leading up to it or the nearby streets.

The road on the right after the roundabout is called 'Street Hill'.  Church Road is then on the right as you go up the hill.

I would really have liked to go to this - somehow it's important to me to show my respects - I am moving house that morning (again) so i wouldn't be able to make it down in time.  I know this sounds silly but I hope that all who do go have a 'good' time if that makes sense.

I've already had a quiet word with Brendan and apologised for not being able to go tomorrow - not sure if he heard me or gave a damm (!) but I will be raising a glass to him tomorrow night and toasting absent friends.

I hope it all goes well for those concerned. x

I am really touched by this whole thing, my neice who is 9 had a tube fitted the other day to allow her to go on dialysis.

9 Yrs old and she doesnt moan a bit, I think i would i would ripping the place to peices.

I am in the middle of trying to organise a fund raising event to send her to Disney (like they all do).

I asked her if she could have or do anything what would it be and bless her all she asked was that we would all be happy.

How do they do it i dont tear up often but these people are very special, Brendan is an inspiration to all and we should all try to live each day as if it was our last how happier place would this be?

If anyone would be interested in getting involved in a poker fund raising event i would be pleased to hear from you anything over the required value of sending Megan to DisneyLand is to be donated to the same charity mentioned here.

Now i leave it to you.

Be well

I'll Post some stuff up about it shortly for those who were unable to attend - Brendan would have wished that & he'd also understand why not everyone could get to his Funeral.
