Title: Re: Accident This morning Post by: cia260895 on September 26, 2008, 02:10:34 PM HSE are on break for 30Min's and interviews will commence soon,1 thing i didn't realise is they have the same power as the police and can read you your rights at any time during the interview.
As the site manager I am responsible for the operatives on site and any operations that involve them, the initial reports are that there is no problem with the crane or the slings used to secure the load but with how the load was secured, which ultimately leaves the blame on the slinger/signaller (banksman). The load was the 4Th unit to be lifted and upon its descent struck a mast climber which caused the load to tilt out of the slings and fall to the ground striking a scaffold handrail at 5Th floor level before crashing to street level. my gut feeling is that the slinger/signaller will be charged with some offence. I took a photo of the incident with the unit on the ground with the lady adjacent but am unable to upload it although probably most wouldn't want to see it. This is without doubt the worst ever experience i have had on a building site and my thoughts go out to the poor women who is now in hospital, the latest update on her condition is she has severe leg and head injuries but is stable, but we await scan results for further info.. Title: Re: Accident This morning Post by: cia260895 on September 26, 2008, 02:52:37 PM slinger signaller just out of his interview looks like a ghost me thinks there gonna hit him hard..

I asked if all the contractors on site could do something and was told they rather we didnt. wtf is it coming to? Title: Re: Accident This morning Post by: Robert HM on October 01, 2008, 01:21:52 PM I blame the lawyers
