Title: Re: flying to dublin (passport issue) Post by: Laxie on September 29, 2008, 04:09:30 PM What airline are you flying with? The answer used to be no (any photo ID would do), but I'm pretty sure Ryanair state that you must have a valid passport to travel now.

If you are a citizen of the European Union you need a passport or national identity card in order to enter the Republic of Ireland. We strongly recommend that you bring a passport as a form of identification if you have one. I know I've flown to Ireland with them with just my driving licence before, but that was a good few years ago. Legally you don't need one, but the airlines will have their own policiies.

Passengers who are citizens of other countries travelling on these routes must present a valid passport (with visa if applicable) or a National Identity Card issued by the government of a European Economic Area (EEA) country.

Airline requirements to satisfy photo id - most airlines require some form of photo id now - check with the airline to see what they require immigration - there is no passport requirement for UK Residents to enter the ROI. |
