Title: When is it alright to start putting your heating on?
Post by: Josedinho on September 30, 2008, 12:10:08 AM
Moved into a house with a couple of mates and they reckon we should have the heating on by now.
I'm a bit northern so 1 i am tight and 2 i don't feel the cold so have told them Novemeber. To be fair it is chilly and i don't think the house is the best at retaining heat but they plucked out the air "75% of England will have their heating on by now"

Just wondered when its generally put on?

The heating only goes on when the woman has given you 2 weeks notice in writing of the intention to switch it on ... and or when everyone in the house has a nose that runs like a tap :)

Put a jumper on. If after 15 mins you're still cold put the heating on. But for me it's a hot bath and electric blanket if I'm on my own. Lovely!

Prolly best to whack the heating on and make sure it works - that way it can be fixed before you need it.

I'm starting now

Practicing for impending credit crunch busto and having it on full time when the winter fuel payments kick in from Alistair Darling

+1

Then again, I sleep with the window open every night, no matter how cold it gets.

Still not yet cool enough to have the heating on though, IMO.

My part of Nottingham is tropical - it will be a couple of months, at least, before I put the heating on.
I'm still walking around in tee-shirt and shorts, personally. Sorry for the image that may have created.

was asked to put the heating on by 2 clients last week told them that it cant go on til october 1st as thats when it is programmed to come on,The I.O.E said "but all my students are cold" i replied "let em wear a jumper then!" on bigger plant the controls are just a nightmare to try and change over to other timings so we dont do it unless they want to pay for a controls engineer to reset it all

Also with our staorgae heaters it seems you have to predict 24 hours in advance as to what the whether will be!

I've had my gas fire lit in the front room a couple of times this week but I'm well nesh.

Heating went on last night while i was out. Came back and could feel the heat from the other side of the front door. Found both housemates in t-shirt and shorts.
No middle ground is there?

its gotta drop to a minus over night before any heating goes on, I think its a law.

When a geordie wears more than a t-shirt is a good and fair sign for heating to be on
