I keep getting warnings popping up on my PC telling me that there's a problem with this or that and it's really pissing me off.

I can click to get rid of them but they keep coming back all the time.

Anyone know how I can get rid of them?

It's already caused a min raise on stars because as I was clicking to get rid of the warning stars popped up over the top with the raise button right where I was about to click.

I'm seriously considering buying a new PC with XP instead but if someone knows how to get rid of this annoying shit I'd be very grateful.

lol at all the n00bs with Vista. isn't there some sort of 24 hour help line? i presume it goes straight to "DONT DO IT!.....counseling for vista customers helpline"

Lol. Thanks for the help. It's my mums PC that I'm having to borrow for a while. She's had problems with it from day 1 bless her.

It was only when I got it that I realised just how bad it is. I don't think any software works properly on it at all.

It really does suck!!!!

Vista's a bit tedious with having to agree permissions a lot, and I think it uses up an unnecessary amount of processor space.

But I can't understand what problems most people seem to be having with it -  I've only found it to be a bit annoying rather than really problematical.

I love Vista, it's a really nice bit of kit, even if it does rip of mac software a bit (again)   The pop up permission thing does annoy me slightly but it becomes less frequent as time goes by.

You can turn those permissions off completely. Go into the Windows Security Center and under Other Security Settings, turn off User Account Control. No more annoying pop ups :D

As for the problem Evilpie is having, it's a bit hard to diagnose without a little more info. What sort of problem is it flagging?

By the way, I love vista too, I would never go back to XP now that I'm use to a Vista machine.

It starts off by saying "windows toolbar is not working properly"

It then tells me it is "trying to find a solution"

It then tells me "I can't find a solution but I'll be back in 2 minutes just in case I can find one then"

Can I just turn the toolbar off completely?

I also get "problem caused by pokeroffice". I solved this last night by removing pokeroffice rather than trying to fix it.

:D It did occur to me that if Vista keeps on popping up telling you a there's a problem, it might be an idea to fix the problem - but I thought that was a bit too obvious.

really ? I have had a vista license sitting here on my desk for the past 3 months, but havent had the courage to install it. also the question is, which one to install - i have the 64 bit version and the 32....

Doesn't that depend on if you have software that you need that will run on 32 bit or 64 bit? 

yes but the problem at the moment is that all software is pretty much designed and written for 32 bit, meaning that any 64 bit version will be ported from that, and can cause problems,
maybe I will stick to the 32 bit then change over later.

Seriously! I was VERY hesitant on moving over to Vista, but thought that if it was really as bad as some people said, I would just reinstall the machine with XP. So very glad I went with Vista now though, once you get use to it (and it does take a little getting use to) it's a fab operating system IMO. Just forget everything you knew about XP though because much of it will be sod all use with Vista. Oh, I have the 32 bit OS btw.

It's designed to be far more user friendly for non geeks, which is great for them. However, as a proud geek, I've found myself scratching my head trying to work out how to do a couple of simple tasks in Vista, that I knew easily how to do in XP. Usually I find that I'm making the task much harder than it really is, as Vista now takes all the work out of most jobs.

My clock keeps freezing and messing up the tool bar at the bottom of the page to the point where you can't see where the tabs are or they are in the wrong order. Turn off turn on is the only solution i've found.

I run vista with no problems because I fix the problems it's identified, that's the point of it doing it

not doing this is like taking your car to the garage, getting told your brakes are shot, telling the mechanic to fuck off and carrying on driving whilst getting annoyed every time one of your mates tells you that the screeching noise coming from the wheels doesn't sound too good

Use 64bit version if you want more than 4GB of ram, otherwise there isnt much difference, excpet you cant upgrade 32bit XP to 64bit Vista, you have to do a clean wipe and a fresh install.

Was thinking of building a new pc - do the poker sites work on 64bit Vista?  Do normal programs have issues with it?

Is 4gb of RAM overkill for playing poker and using Photoshop or will a simpler 2gb of RAM and 32bit Vista be better? 

Pretty sure you will have to make sure your hardware is also 64bit compatible.

It's mainly processor and motherboard that has to be 64bit other parts tend not to matter.
I use 64 bit vista ultimate and it's great, really quick and running things after an initial startup thats normal but I run a lot fo apps like bluetooth controller etc.
