That was brilliant, and I must say, exactly the sort of no bullshit manager newcastle needs (and the premiership in general). I hope he keeps the job for the entire season.

When seagulls follow the trawler it is because they think sardines will be thrown into the sea.

The other ones are pretty good http://www.guardian.co.uk/sport/blog/2008/oct/02/manchesterunited.chelsea

Question

Is he

A) a psychological genius, coming out to the journos like that deliberately so they'll treat him with kid gloves for the next few weeks, to make sure he doesn't cast them out from his inner thinkings ?

B) a feckin psycho ?

Joe Kinnear seems an idiot.

1) The journalist's comments seemed fair
2) The language used was completely unnecessary, I can't imagine Richard Branson using that language at a business press conference.
3) The press generally can manage to get any manager sacked with enough reason
4) If he was that good a manager he would not have been out of work for so long

Well done Kinnear, if these sports 'journalists' were as proffessional as they demand Managers and Footballers be they could complain, but they're not - I think Kinnear got it spot on.

Just listened to it.

I'm sure it was premeditated.

He wanted to creat a seige mentality, so he can go into the players and give it all the them and us stuff.

Next time we see Newcastle on the pitch, they might still play crap ( or hopefully not ) but i bet they're fired up for it.

Hughton has basically been making excuses for the players for the last few weeks.  Big Joe is going to go with the we can't do anything about that stuff, but on the pitch we can show what we're made of.

I think it might possibly work.

Fair as in lies. I am sure those poor journalists felt really bad with those swear words.

If this is the article that Joe Kinnear got upset about then I cannot see his point at all: -

Quote
Joe Kinnear's first day in charge at Newcastle - and the players have a day off
By Simon Bird 30/09/2008

Joe Kinnear clocked on for his first shift at Newcastle yesterday... and had no first team squad to work with.

Kinnear only has a few games to make an impact at St James' Park, but amazingly there was no urgency in cracking the whip yesterday on the training ground.

Instead of holding an immediate inquest into a five-game losing streak and stamping his personality on the club... the first team had their feet up or were playing golf, ahead of Sunday's trip to Everton.

The interim Newcastle boss will take his first session today and demand United's stars make a fresh start under his charge and start believing in themselves.

Kinnear has held a summit with backroom staff to plan a route out of the club's on-field slump. He is confident he can make an impact this week and get the Magpies organised and professional.

He said: "We need to start clearing the air. We can't brush things under the carpet.

"We'll have a minor shake-up and let people know how important it is to be really professional when we're on the pitch.

"Because of previous results faces are on the ground. People are lacking in confidence.

Someone has to sit down and tell them to forget about it and get on with the game.

"A win at Everton is the minimum requirement. To get a result, lift everyone and play as a team. I would dearly love to have the players back who are injured. Having spent a week with them this week we will be OK.

"I can certainly educate a few of them, that is for sure. In not doing silly things and being more professional on the pitch.

Irrespective of the gimmick and all the stuff that went with my time at Wimbledon, we were a very professional side.

"We will go through the tape of Saturday's defeat to Blackburn. We will explain things. We will put them right back on the training pitch demonstrate how to work as a unit."

Kinnear says he's visited dozens of training grounds during his four years out of the game, including several visits watching the way Arsene Wenger works at Arsenal.

Can't see us scoring. 2-0 Everton, maybe 3-0.  Should be a good time for us to play them in theory though.

There's no shame losing to Hull.

But I couldn't possibly comment on Portsmouth, Villa, Sunderland, Middlesborough

Superb.  I sometimes wish Strachan would do things like that rather than try and be funny with the media.

Sort of reminds me of the time Kenny Dal held the Celtic press conference in a pub, he was ridiculed by the media and by Celtic fans - the very same fans who hate the media.  Confused me that did.
