Title: Political Compass
Post by: Rod Paradise on October 03, 2008, 03:59:55 PM
Just for interest, there's a mutiple choice test that attempts to plot your political leanings (as left & right aren't enough).

I've done it and came out with:

Which compared to:

Makes me like Ghandi, without the skinniness, or the pacifism obv. We've a similar hairstyle though...

Though when I look at it more like an Anarchistic version of Stalin,

Take the test: http://www.politicalcompass.org/index (http://www.politicalcompass.org/index)

It's interesting that the only time a political parties' position is south of the Liberation/Authoritarian median is when they are not in government.

I'm not too surprised - Authoritarian people are probably a bit less likely to be degenerate gamblers ;)

I've done this before, and I came out somewhat southwest of Milton Friedman, so about the only righty on here so far. Freeish market with do-what-the-hell-you-like libertinarianism. Pretty correct for me. Although I've voted libdem once in my life as they're mostly very pointless (IMHO).

Economic Left/Right: -4.88
Social Libertarian/Authoritarian: -0.46

More to the left than I was expecting but definitely a fifth option required to make this more accurate as there were a lot of options where I had not preference or was a don't know.

lol at this bit

Socialists like Mahatma Gandhi and Robert Mugabe would occupy a less extreme leftist position. Margaret Thatcher would be well over to the right, but further right still would be someone like that ultimate free marketeer, General Pinochet

Mugabe a socialist?..guess he never quite grasped the basic Socialist idea then lol

I'm Economic Left/Right: -4.75
Social Libertarian/Authoritarian: -4.62

close enough to Ghandi to be considered a lefty, I guess.

Also close enough to Ghandi to realise that this whole political compass thing is a load of bollocks.

His redistributive land reforms were socialist, just not in the good way.

About as far right as you can get.

Just in case anyone thinks I really am a facist, this was just a joke, I am really as much of a bleeding heart liberal as the rest of you.
