Title: Am-pro hand...
Post by: MC on October 04, 2008, 11:06:48 PM
This is probably a bread and butter hand and am pretty sure I play it the same each time, but interested in opinions on this...

Okay so blinds are 300/600. I have 11.7k. And am dealt 9d 9h under the gun.

I make it 1700 to go, folded round to the big blind. He is new to the table within the last round or so and has 10.7k preflop. He calls.

Flop is Kd 7d 3d. BB leads out for 2500.

Is everyone else all-in here? Any arguments for peeling or possisbly folding?

either limp / peel pre looking for set for bet

but as it goes, fold flop 11outs at best here he could have K with higher diamond and u drawing to the two 9s so fold once he leads this flop imo

ugh, u know anything about this guy? old/young, brash/quiet. pretty fooking marginal live, might be a fold.

Middle aged dude, pretty quiet, but not so quiet that when he bets I think he has KK lol.

Tbh he bet pretty quick and I felt he looked weak whilst betting. But I don't claim to be a master reader or anything.

Taz - No way I'm limping preflop at this stage in the tourney with nines...

just because he bets quickly doesnt mean he is weak - he has minimum K or made flush already - shouldnt push all in here with 99 imo

doubt he would lead with anything less than K and would probs lead with flush for you to reraise since ur utg raiser

he may even have small set

I didn't say I thought he was weak because he bet quick. I just thought he was weak in his betting manner.

I appreciate your opinion. Folding might well be best....

However I strongly disagree that he leads out a set or flush here, they check raise 9 times out of 10....Much more likely we're up against a bare high diamond or a paired King I think.

My advice would be get up from the table go home and play real poker.

Fold you have plenty of time, he leads with K here + better diamond draw. I think he has KJ, J diamonds.

I would fold i agree with gamblor. If u shove all in here imo ur hand doesnt look strong at all and looks like a draw, there is no way the guy is folding after putting a third of a stack into the pot.

I would fold and wait for a better spot to get ur chips in, you seem like a solid player and dont want to be spewing your chips here.

Chiprich would get them in here, and it a 2 outer on the river. This must be the best move.

donks are sometimes draws or weak made hands.

Either way i think your ahead or drawing worst hand to see is something like K with diamond but i think he c/r's a lot with that.

I'd shove and expect to hardly ever be against a flush here. I expect you to have an ok amount of outs either way

This is exactly what I thought man. I think it's fair to assume a set, a flush and KQ/KJ/KT with a diamond all check raise.

Therefore we are either currently ahead and he has the Qd or something (even bare Ad check raises?), or he has a King and no diamond and is protecting. I thought if the latter was true, how can you call an all in shove for tournament life after I've raised UTG pre? Even if he does call in this scenario we have 11 outs or say 10 if he has King rag with a low diamond or something.

I dunno man, Pokerstove is saying I'm good for a 11.5%-25% preflop range...

Anyway, outcome of this was he INSTA called with Ks Ts.

Thanks for the input...

Just seen this. It was me in the BB. Preflop there was 2600 in the middle and it was another 1100 to call so over 2.3/1. I was obviously behind and if I miss the flop I don't put in any more chips but with Ks Ts I felt it was worth having a look at the flop. I put you on {TT+, AKs} by your UTG raise. I felt the Kd 7d 3d flop was good for me and that I was now probably ahead unless you had AA, AK or had flopped the flush. I decided to lead here expecting you to fold your "big pair". I was surprised by your allin move which immediately looked like a draw to me. I still had you on a similar range assuming one of your pair was now a diamond. I figured I was probably a little better than even money against that range. I had 7.1k left to pick up another 13.3k so had to call really.

I thought our starting table was on the whole pretty decent, was happy to get moved.
