Title: Hero Call? Post by: snoopy1239 on October 09, 2008, 04:02:02 AM 6-handed $1/2
Button raises $7, I make it $23 from sb with 8c 8d. He calls. Flop = 7c 6s 6c I continue bet $38. He calls after 10 seconds. Turn = Td Both check River = Kc I check, he bets $100 into a $125 pot. I have $138 left, he has $100.15 behind... My image is tight aggressive, nobody's seen me do anything too silly. Little info on opponent, only played a few rounds, but seems relatively aggressive, but not crazy. Do you make the hero call? Would you have played the hand any differently? Title: Re: Hero Call? Post by: maldini32 on October 09, 2008, 04:17:42 AM I pass every draws got there.
Title: Re: Hero Call? Post by: snoopy1239 on October 09, 2008, 04:27:07 AM I pass every draws got there. I have blockers to the straight, and wouldn't the flush draw bet the turn? Title: Re: Hero Call? Post by: Amatay on October 09, 2008, 04:38:00 AM oppo has to have a monster here imo. whats he cold called the flop with that doesnt have u beat?? 45??
Title: Re: Hero Call? Post by: T_Mar on October 09, 2008, 01:54:19 PM Why do you check the turn? I would think this would be a good double barrel spot where you could still have the best hand? Whether he has hit his hand or not you have given him the initiative by checking turn and river, as played I would just fold the river
Title: Re: Hero Call? Post by: Longy on October 09, 2008, 02:03:36 PM Wp now pass the river, you beat very few hands by the river.
Title: Re: Hero Call? Post by: T_Mar on October 09, 2008, 02:30:47 PM Do you think betting the turn is bad longy?
Title: Re: Hero Call? Post by: Longy on October 09, 2008, 02:47:44 PM I'am not keen on double barelling here, without history. In a 3bet pot here we are getting little value from his range that we beat and folding out very little, we are losing to. The bet achieves very little IMO apart from the small part of his range that are flush draws which would often look to pLay for stacks on the flop, quite often.
Title: Re: Hero Call? Post by: T_Mar on October 09, 2008, 03:11:44 PM Maybe cos I can see him checking back the turn, I think his hand looks alot one that got there on the river, obv snoopy didn't have the luxury ;)
Title: Re: Hero Call? Post by: ShatnerPants on October 09, 2008, 03:22:34 PM By not betting the turn or the river, aren't you inviting him to represent the flush whether he's hit or not ?
Couldn't he be playing with Ax and a couple of overs to the flop, that has missed ? Or an underpair, at a stretch ? Wouldn't a blocking bet on the river be a reasonable idea, representing the flush yourself, and at least giving you a sign of his strength if he bets back at you ? Title: Re: Hero Call? Post by: Longy on October 09, 2008, 03:34:54 PM Lets not be results orientated. If the river is a non club then we know a flush draw has missed and we can then call as our checks have induced a bluff. When we check the turn, his check back alters his likely range.
As for blocking the river stacks are really bad for that, as bet/folding is really bad pot odds wise. What worse do you get called by? Title: Re: Hero Call? Isn't there just as much chance that he is representing the danger card on the river as there is him actually having hit it? Would he not bet the flush draw on the turn? As for the straight, surely this is unlikely due to my blockers and him having to call a 3b pf with 8-9. My main worry here is actually A-K, but the betting pattern is so unusual that I don't think we can rule out a bluff. Title: Re: Hero Call? Post by: MC on October 09, 2008, 06:55:35 PM Think this is a pass dude...
If you're gonna call the river you should have bet the turn... Title: Re: Hero Call? Post by: snoopy1239 on October 10, 2008, 04:54:28 PM My hand was folded. I think that was the right decision. He showed Jh 9s.
