Title: Are you allowed to join the table on the button?
Post by: johnbhoy76 on October 09, 2008, 02:56:50 PM
was playing in my local casino at the weekend when one of the tables got broke up and a guy who moved to our table sat down at the seat where the button was going to be for the next hand.

My understanding is that he sits out this hand and comes in on the next hand

from Robert's rules:

16. New players to a table as a result of balancing tables are dealt in immediately unless they are in the small blind or button position, where they must wait until the button has passed to the player on their left.

as always this is cardroom dependent. some will allow you in on the button others won't. more and more are now allowing players to play from the button or sb if joining a full table

the only seat you can never join and be dealt in is between the button and the sb, all cardrooms will make you wait in this position

nope if you come in there you guest (according to some cardrooms)

in cash yes, but I assume we're talking about tournaments here though, I certainly am anyway

in tourny you sit in as guest to the right of the sb and left of the button

you dont pay any ante but you are first to act preflop and post flop

after the hand the button moved past you

really? guesting in a tourney and first to act pf? I've never seen that but it's one of the worst rules I've ever heard of
