No, probably one of the best.

Completely pointless article written by someone who doesn't seem to grasp the concept that you can't measure things like this across completely different era's.  And thats before starting on the home advantage factor in major tourns.

so if it was 0-0 and Beckham came on to supply the cross and they win 1-0 would the vitriol still be evident. Jeff Powell GFY.

Jeff Powell has been a joke for over a decade. To be fair a lot of tabloid football journalists are too.

Henry Winter at the Telegraph, Paddy Barclay and Ian Ridley FTW

As to article, waste of time/non-story/muck-raking

On general sport, sure

but mine were the football writers

Mail Sports jounros are the Pits. They have a general sports features guy called Patrick Collins who writes the most obsequious lazy self serving pieces of tripe it is my misfortune to read in a sporting context.

Couldn't be arsed reading it all but this bit stood out. He's a prik imo.

"England's fans were described as ‘shameful’ by Saturday’s stand-in captain and ‘disgraceful’ by at least one ex-international on television.

Their crime? Booing Ashley Cole.

Boo-hoo.

The real shame is that the likes of Rio Ferdinand and Graeme Le Saux should be utterly incapable of comprehending the reason for Wembley rounding on their poor little Ashley."

I truly despise Ashley Cole with all my heart but the England fans booing him on Saturday make me sick. Scum bag journalists like this guy only back up the boo boys.

Not a great article but I've seen worse. 90% of football articles are utter bollox.

Got bored just before halfway through. His point seems to be that he doesn't like celebrity footballers, how dare they get more caps than legends who won things,  wasn't it great in the old days, and these young tossers wouldn't have lasted 5 minutes in the 60s/70s.

Dave Shoelace hits the nail on the head earlier in the thread.

standard Dom. We've now been discussing the differences between Boyd and Carragher.
