Post by: AndrewT on October 15, 2008, 04:44:23 PM Foled by Randomness is very good, as is his follow up The Black Swan, which is very pertinent in the turbulent financial markets right now as the book is all about the fact people don't factor in highly improbable things happening into their calculations (such as Lehman Brothers folding, or Iceland going bust) because things of that scale haven't happened in their experience.
Nassim Nicholas Taleb was on Newsnight last Friday telling everyone how all the financial guys were idiots and how he'd been telling them something like this was going to happen.
