Title: PLO8 comp Post by: Ironside on October 15, 2008, 03:40:28 AM 57 left 54 get paid
you've been card dead for an hour nothing to even see a flop with no postion to steal with utg you find a hand that you would normally pass but you make a mistake and you try for the steal once you know your against aces do you fold to try and get past the bubble or do you call to try and get lucky PokerStars Game #21204533672: Tournament #113517755, $20+$2 Omaha Hi/Lo Pot Limit - Level XII (500/1000) - 2008/10/14 22:35:30 ET Table '113517755 22' 9-max Seat #4 is the button Seat 1: mayor2 (9968 in chips) Seat 2: Rat-a-too-ee (4378 in chips) Seat 3: PapaGrande (19312 in chips) Seat 4: boozeorlose (17510 in chips) Seat 5: chewy732001 (22818 in chips) Seat 6: hmm ill call (8754 in chips) Seat 7: Ironside (6536 in chips) Seat 8: simskc (43735 in chips) Seat 9: livetofish1 (15357 in chips) chewy732001: posts small blind 500 hmm ill call: posts big blind 1000 *** HOLE CARDS *** Dealt to Ironside [Qd Kd Kc 2c] Ironside: raises 2500 to 3500 simskc: folds livetofish1: folds mayor2: folds Rat-a-too-ee: folds PapaGrande: raises 2500 to 6000 boozeorlose: raises 11510 to 17510 and is all-in chewy732001: folds hmm ill call: folds Title: Re: PLO8 comp Post by: $muszlesz$ on October 15, 2008, 04:37:04 AM why would u raise with this anyway u should of just mucked in the first place......
Title: Re: PLO8 comp Post by: david3103 on October 15, 2008, 08:57:04 AM utg you find a hand that you would normally pass but you make a mistake and you try for the steal i'm no PLO expert but it seems you're pretty committed to this now your hand isn't awful a fold would leave you hoping that Papagrande calls and beats boozeorlose, and that two more go out before you get blinded out a call and a win would push you some way up the stacks do you want to scrape your way to 54th, or have a shot at something much better? Title: Re: PLO8 comp Post by: JungleCat03 on October 15, 2008, 09:13:06 AM you're putting in 3k into a 21k pot.
7-1 pot odds, and even against Aces with one of your suits covered, you're still only a 3-1 dog in equity terms. Kc 2c Kd Qd 101556 148585 351415 0 0 0 0 0.250 As 4d Ah 2h 121081 247083 228724 24193 0 45513 198774 0.480 2s Ac 4c 3d 30248 80139 395668 24193 56317 0 198774 0.269 Easy call. Once you make a raise for half your stack in omaha or om/8 you should never be folding barring some very wierd scenarios... Title: Re: PLO8 comp Post by: Bertpup on October 15, 2008, 11:19:07 AM Am i missing something here? Why would this normally be a pass? We have just over 6bb and the blinds are about to hit us. Do we really want to blind into the money or get a decent stack to get to the FT.
I think the biggest mistakes people make when playing plo/8 MTT is that they wait too long for that situation to 3/4 someone. Unless the table was utterly crazy I would be raising this hand 99% of the time in any position when the blinds get meaningfull to win. Title: Re: PLO8 comp Post by: Christo! on October 15, 2008, 12:48:53 PM Once I have raised with this and the reraise comes it does look like opponent has aces.
Your hand obv isn't ideal as you cannot make a low, but at least you are only against one other player. I have played against Boozeorlose a few times and he does know what he is doing. It is slightly possible that Boozeorlose has something like AQ23 as I have seen him do this play before. But if you are sure he has aces I still call here as if you suck out and win then your stack is back to being healthy. In these $20 PLO8 trnys on stars sneaking into the money with a small stack isn't great as all the $$$ is at the final table. and more often or not it is hard to battle your way back to get a decent stack to go for the final table. Title: Re: PLO8 comp Post by: $muszlesz$ on October 15, 2008, 01:22:13 PM of couse u cant fold after u have raised but why would u raise with that....ur sort of playin it like 2 hold em hands rather that a omaha hand
Title: Re: PLO8 comp Post by: Bertpup on October 15, 2008, 02:53:31 PM You have 6BB, Your in need of a double up
why would u raise with that....ur sort of playin it like 2 hold em hands rather that a omaha hand Mainly for the fact that people wait far too long for that perfect "omaha" hand. They wait all day for something like AA210 and then bemoan there bad luck when there shortstack gets picked off by a raiser who is commited to calling there raise with any cards. I think as a hand it works well for winning a big pot and being relativley easy to get away from if theres a lot of action ahead of you. Title: Re: PLO8 comp Post by: relaedgc on October 15, 2008, 03:06:51 PM It's hardly the worst hand in the world.
Title: Re: PLO8 comp Post by: Royal Flush on October 15, 2008, 03:20:19 PM Not the worst hand but pretty dire.
Give me JJ25ds all day long over that hand. Title: Re: PLO8 comp Post by: Bertpup on October 15, 2008, 05:06:07 PM Can i ask if thats for hand in question or in general?
Title: Re: PLO8 comp Post by: Ironside on October 15, 2008, 05:07:49 PM in general
Title: Re: PLO8 comp Post by: AlexMartin on October 15, 2008, 05:19:48 PM more scary is how u got so low iron m8. lost a pot hand before?
Title: Re: PLO8 comp Post by: Ironside on October 15, 2008, 05:28:56 PM nope just had nothing for about an hour no spots to shove no cards to win pots just alot of crap cards in crap postions
this looked like a monster compared to what i was getting if i had folded and waited 4 more hands i would of gotten into the money thats the reason behind the post then anything could of happened and when i say crap i think the best i had seen in the hour was A89T 4 suited Title: Re: PLO8 comp Post by: AlexMartin on October 15, 2008, 06:58:37 PM its still poker though right? button bash ftw?
Title: Re: PLO8 comp Post by: Ironside on October 15, 2008, 07:11:07 PM cant button bash with rags with a raise and an all in reraise in front of you
Title: Re: PLO8 comp Post by: swamper on October 17, 2008, 09:47:32 AM have to call now. i don't mind the the raise with only 6bb, if you are playing to win and not just cash. If the table is aggro you can't really wait any longer to make a move.
