Title: Play the Presenter on Sky Poker......................
Post by: TightEnd on October 22, 2008, 10:18:13 AM
Some of you may have noticed that there is a new promotion on Sky (http://www.skypoker.com/poker/sky_lobby?aff=1062) Poker (http://www.skypoker.com/poker/sky_lobby?aff=1062): Play the Presenter. which started this week

In this some of Sky's presenters and analysts will be playing online at the Sky (http://www.skypoker.com/poker/sky_lobby?aff=1062) Poker (http://www.skypoker.com/poker/sky_lobby?aff=1062) cash and tournament tables, Monday to Friday from 7pm, every week. They will also be covering some tables live on Sky Channel 865.

Sadly there are no guarantees that the presenters will be wearing tank tops when they play, but you can't have everything.

For the remainder of this week the Presenters are:

Wednesday, 22nd October   Norman (http://www.blondepoker.com/blondepedia/blondepedia_view_player.php?player_id=2500) Pace (http://www.blondepoker.com/blondepedia/blondepedia_view_player.php?player_id=2500) (alias: NormanPace)
Thursday, 23rd October   tikay (Tikay10)
Friday, 24th October   Richard (http://www.blondepoker.com/blondepedia/blondepedia_view_player.php?player_id=2550) Orford (http://www.blondepoker.com/blondepedia/blondepedia_view_player.php?player_id=2550)   (RichOrford)

and blonde Poker will be following Play the Presenter, letting you know which presenter is on which night over the course of the next few weeks and beyond.

It's easy to see what tables the presenters will be at, simply go to the poker lobby and use the ‘find a player' function, by typing in the presenter's alias.

Each presenter has their own unique avatar so they will be easy to recognise when you're sat at the table.

As to which tables and tournaments, I think the cash side is up to the presenter. Last night for example tikay was playing £0.25-£0.50 at 7pm.

The presenters will switch to play the £500 guaranteed tournament at 9.30pm each night with a £11 buy-in (reg no 1033989 )

Edited by tikay, 5pm Thursday.

He looks so much younger in that avatar...

The 'photo was taken when I was younger - yesterday.

I had a ball last night, & played from 7pm until Midnight.

Cash games were lively, until I took a half-hour break at 9pm, then I played the £500 Guaranteed at 21.30, which I won bubbled.

More cash action followed, until the Nurse collected me & sent me to bed at Midnight.

There was muich comment about what many described as a "tank-top", of which I know nothing, as I do not possess such a garment. One comment was favourable.

More news later, I'm off to buy some new clothes now. Be ready to admire.

I'm back on PTP tomorrow (Thursday). Norman's turn tonight, but watch out for Orford on Friday - he's hopeless. Michelle Orpe is lined up on PTP from next week, too. Get in!

That avatar is shocking though.  It makes you look a lot older than you are / appear in 'real life'.

How much did Tikay donate in the cash sessions last night or did he clean the lot out?  I was safely snoring, but might time a nap properly to join ye one of these nights.

That's because it's a charactericure (sp?). I am, of course, a shining example of youthful vitality, & I dress accordingly.

After 5 hours, I ended up about £12 down - so everyone was happy.

I joined a Cash-Table & elected to Post my BB out of position, & got to see a cheap flop with  4d 3d.

The board of  Ad 2d Kh 5c  9d was not well received by the poor guy with A-K, but these things happen.....

I have changed my mind, on a whim. (Well, Memo from Lord Murdoch, he's such a pain), & now I'm gonna play as follows.....

15p - 30p Cash, from 7pm until 7.40pm.

Bathroom break.

25p - 50p Cash - 7.45pm - 8.20pm.

Power-Nap.

50p - £1 Cash - 8.25pm - 9pm.

Dinner-break, via Meals on Wheels.

£500 Guarenteed Tournament, (£11), 9.30pm until I exit.

Thereafter, 25p - 50p Cash until Midnight.

So, a short Final Cash Session until Midnight, as I cannot fail to Final in that 9.30 Tourney. Mark my words.

I'll be playing Sky tonight so may try and rinse the ol fella if the queue isn't too long.

Do these games go out live on TV? Do they analyse hands with cards face-up? What's the procedure with coverage of your games?

Rinse me? You'll be all right, Sonny Jim.

No, these particular games are not shown Live on TV, although any Table on Sky (http://www.skypoker.com/poker/sky_lobby?aff=1062) Poker (http://www.skypoker.com/poker/sky_lobby?aff=1062) with a "TV" logo may well be reviewed on the various Sky (http://www.skypoker.com/poker/sky_lobby?aff=1062) Poker (http://www.skypoker.com/poker/sky_lobby?aff=1062) Shows during the week.

I'm sure, if you managed to "rinse me", (in your dreams, that is), it will find it's way onto the Channel. Possibly.

What is your Sky (http://www.skypoker.com/poker/sky_lobby?aff=1062) Poker (http://www.skypoker.com/poker/sky_lobby?aff=1062) Username, so I can look out for you avoid you?

I may have misled snoops in replying to his "are these games shown on Live TV?" question.

I've just seen an e-Mail which says....

Each Play the Presenter session starts at 7.00 pm every weekday night and select tables will be shown live on Sky Channel 865.

So they might.

Dancing shoes - on. Tank-Top - off.

Let's do it.

Ok found the table but no seat for Tikay!

The first 15p 30p Table filled before I could sit on it!

But they opened another, & we had some fun on that. I was a few quid up until the very last hand, when I ran KQ into AK on a Q-J-T Board, & I ended about £2 up.

25p 50p next, just setting up the Table now, but I have some connection problems at my end, bear with me please.

God, that's a scary picture.

Someone needs to "have a word" over at Sky MTT's...the "Play the Presenter" tournament is paying 20 people with 123 regged, and was paying 20 as soon as the 100th person regged. Bit silly to have 11th-20th getting £12.30 back when it's an £11 tourney.

Looked worse when they were getting £10.10 though...

Yup, he plays a pretty mean game, actually.

As to other work, I envy him, he has all sorts of little numbers on other TV channels. He does "Living" I think, whatever that is, and some Property Show thing, too, as well as Poker stuff for Sky Sports now & then.

He was in Bratislava (sp) when we spoke on Wednesday, on a "fact-finding mission". Yeah, right.....

Dyes his hair, you know.

In Brighton, after a Sky Event, he sat at the cash-table & ran £200 up to £2,000!

I think he plays like Compo. No idea at all, but bamboozles folks with hs ineptness.

After he'd won £600 at Brighton, I promised him a kiss if he won £1k. We met for brekkie the next day, & he proudly showed me his winnings. £2k.

He insists on me paying up too, but I've grimmed him.

Richard (http://www.blondepoker.com/blondepedia/blondepedia_view_player.php?player_id=2550) Orford (http://www.blondepoker.com/blondepedia/blondepedia_view_player.php?player_id=2550) is on PTP tonight.

All I can say is "fill 'yer boots".

Yep, good news for everyone. The amount of money that will be leaking from my account tonight should, if I've made my calculations correctly, get us out of this recession that's been announced today.

It took the senate weeks to finalise a rescue package, but my enormous cash injection this evening should have the world economy back up and running again in no time.

Here's my itinery for this evening-

7pm- Sit with entire bankroll, kindly provided by Sky (http://www.skypoker.com/poker/sky_lobby?aff=1062) Poker (http://www.skypoker.com/poker/sky_lobby?aff=1062),on the £100/£200 cash tables, feeling cocky. Fire up eight tables and open Internet Explorer to book a five-star holiday with my expected winnings for the night

7.01pm- Phone up office to ask for another bankroll

7.02pm- Phone up office to ask for another bankroll. The call goes straight to answer machine.

7.04pm- Receive irate phone call from Sky head offices demanding I raise my game

7.07pm- Receive a 'cease and desist' order from Rupert Murdoch's solicitors

7.09pm- Get transferred to the 2p/4p tables, in the middle of a hand

Tomorrow morning- Receive polite phone call from Sky telling me, that following an emergency meeting, the shareholders have voted that I am never, ever given access to company funds again.

Monday morning- Gordon Brown announces plans to nationalise Sky.

See you there!

Did dye my hair, did. For about three weeks in total, until flak from presenters and viewers as orchestrated by a certain Tony (http://www.blondepoker.com/blondepedia/blondepedia_view_player.php?player_id=4) Kendall (http://www.blondepoker.com/blondepedia/blondepedia_view_player.php?player_id=4) Esq. convinced me to go 'au naturelle'.
Still, I'd rather have hair that's dyed, then hair that died Tikay.  ;tk;

Ok, first Play the Presenter night in the bag, And I enjoyed it loads.

Now as many of you know, Tikay is constantly trying to drag me into a war of words about our respective poker abilities. So for once, I’m going to let the stats do the talking.

With the same starting bankrolls-  after 10 hours of play Tikay is DOWN 1.4%, whilst after just 5 hours of play (and the obligatory Crow interview) I’m UP 19.5%.

No further questions, your honour...

none of my biz, just being nosey, was wondering if tikay could do this on blonde or is he only allowed to promote sky now? just seems a bit strange that if you wanna play tikay off the telly you can find him at luton, dtd or online at sky but not actually on his own site. or so it seems anyway, could be wrong obv

A very good question Byron, with a very complex answer.

I'll respond to it, in my Diary thread, later today.

the mistake here richard is that you asked joobs to be quiet. if ever a plan was doomed to fail this was it.

I think a better proposal would be instead of playing against the presenter, the winner got a chance to BE a presenter for a night!

Just a tip. I think you mean "Analyst", not "Presenter". They are very different jobs. The Presenter's Role is a highly skilled job, whereas the Analysts.......(Yes, I'm an "Analyst").

No further questions?

Look, Ladies & Gentlemen of the Jury.

Mr Orford is Trap 6.

I am Trap 3.

Need I say more?

One rests one's case.

No further questions your Honour.

they start off on the cash tables until 9.30pm , then they go to the 500Gtd presenter tourney.

Its a bit dear at 11 pounds but only 80 people joined, putting the prize money up to about 800 pounds.

So its good value and a there's a better chance of making the money.

They then go to a cash table, and last night it was a 10 seater.

Michelle Orpe did really well starting with 50 pounds and getting up to 180 by midnight , when she turns back into a Pumpkin

Richard got hammered down to 5 pounds , but after hours of grinding , built his stack up to nearly 25 pounds

Yes I did play them, I sat down with 5 pounds , and finished with 15

In my defence, my black-feathered friend, that wasn't an offical night for me. I noted Orpey was on and saw a gilt-edged opportunity to boost my winnings. Obviously things didn't turn out quite as I'd planned, but nonetheless I'm still £75 up and I'm playing my second night tonight. Bring it on my fellow Blondites,  I'm ready to rumble. 7pm, if you dare.

PS- I'm still miles ahead of Tikay's bankroll at the moment...

Richard Orford played well tonight, in the early low limit cash tables.

He managed to get about half way in the 500 GTD presenter match

Then on to cash again. He finished about 92 pounds up after 5 hours playing so well done m8

The chat was like this;

THE-CROW> Evening all
THE-CROW> caawww
joefire> cmon the crow
themackem> hi crow
GREGHOGG> as soon as i sit down mr crow appears
GREGHOGG> hi m8
THE-CROW> Hi greg
THE-CROW> So its Sky money tonight Rich
RichOrford> yep- that's why I'm up, because I'm forced to play sensibly with someone else's money Crow
RichOrford> instead of my usual shambles

THE-CROW> Play sensibly ? Can you do that ?

( Richard calls an all-in with pocket kings )
the other player themackem also has.....pocket kings    Its a split

RichOrford> that's the mad thing about poker- play ABC all night and slowly build your chipstack,
then in one hand you're forced to call the lot in faith that you're not up against the one hand that's beating you

THE-CROW> was that playing sensibly though ?

RichOrford> ok, hands up who wouldn't have called their entire stack with KK?
themackem> i would have to play

RichOrford> in some ways, it's crazy to call, because themackem must have been on at least QQ, KK, AK, AA

themackem> hard to put me on kk

RichOrford> true

joobie538> evening all!!!!
RichOrford> it's the joobster!
joobie538> so how much have you lost tonight rich?
RichOrford> i've lost 45 pounds...
RichOrford> ...of other  people's money for them :)
joobie538> booooooo
RichOrford> hehe
RichOrford> feeling hot to trot
RichOrford>  three quid up on this table and living it large
FlopHunter> lol
RichOrford> who's going to brimingham on the 8th?
FlopHunter> me:D
joobie538> ME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
MAZERAIDER> i will be there
FlopHunter> im traveling from merry old scotland lol
FlopHunter> partially coz im satying at my aunts
joobie538> reminds me i need to qualify for edinburgh
FlopHunter> yeah but i will be serving then
RichOrford> in the armed forces?
FlopHunter> yep i leave on the first of december
FlopHunter> phase 2 training

FlopHunter> rich can u answer me a question that has been on my mind for a while???
RichOrford> depends flophunter....fire away
FlopHunter> why does Dan always where tight pink shirts on the club lol ??
RichOrford> lol
THE-CROW> dont say fire away at an Army man Rich
PHARLAP777> lol
FlopHunter> lmao
RichOrford> LOL!
joobie538> lolol

THE-CROW> So are you really 110 pound up m8
RichOrford> yep, tho that could be 92 up by the time i leave this table!
THE-CROW> Ok can I print that

RichOrford> sure, make sure you spell tikay correctly: F-I-S-H
RichOrford> ;)

On his last hand , Richard pushed 12 pounds all in with King Queen

Got called and beat by DrewMcRobb with King nine, when a king and nine hit the board

Ok Tikay did a grand job on the cash tables tonight,

No big wins but no big losses.

In the 500GTd he stayed in over half way 48/96 and pushed with ace king and was out drawn.

Later on the cash tables he made a great push with pocket kings, and doubled up about 11.30pm

The unlucky man who Tikay beat was called unluckyman, good name that

There were a few ace rag hands early on in the night, but in the small blind , you have to play 'em      so  tikay said

Tikay had to stand in for Michelle Orpe tonight , so we had a chance to play again

In the 9.30pm play the presenter match, we ended up on the same table (again)

WE both lasted to the first hour and then my stack went down until I had to call with Qs, Js

I was called by 9 5 and he hit both on the flop 5 9 J,

My jack did not improve so I went out 3 off the bubble in 13th

Tikay lasted about 3 hands more going out on the bubble in 11th place

It was a great match and Claw75 joined us for an interview

Just to correct that - I did not stand in for Michelle tonight, I was always scheduled to do PTP this evening, as noted by Tighty a few Posts up.

However, on Thursday evening, I am standing in for Michelle, as she is unavailable.

Tikay was the Play the Presenter tonight

I did not see the early cash games, but The Boss did really well in his Bounty Hunter tourny.at 9.30pm.

After being disconnected for 20 minutes, he was down to 1500 chips, and nearly out, but

once re-connected, he fought back bravely, to get to the final table.

He came 3rd , well done Sir.

Richard Orford will get some stick next week now lol

Please note, the PTP schedule has changed slightly.

We now play Cash Tables from 7pm until 8.30pm, then a 30 minute break, followed by the £4k Guaranteed PTP Bounty Hunter at 9pm - NOT the £500 at 9.30pm. After exiting - call it 9.10pm? - it's back to the Cash Tables until midnight.

I'm limbering up for tonight as we speak.

Limber, limber......

That revision applies to Tuesday & Wednesday ONLY. Sorry if I've confused anyone except myself.

OK, I’m on Play The Presenter tonight and after two consecutive losing sessions I’m now nursing my battered bankroll- which now stands at just £16 above the starting amount, having been £217 up at one point.

Tragically, I think this still puts me in the lead out of all the other presenters. Tikay, hang your head in shame!

So come and have a go this evening, if you think you’re hard enough.  I’ll on the 15p/30p table from 7 till 8, the 25p/50p from 8 till 9, the £11 PTP Bounty Hunter MTT at 9.30pm and then 50p/£1 when I bust out the tourney (let’s say 9.45pm on the conservative side) until midnight.

Word of warning though- form is temporary, class is permanent. Put it this way, it’s not a good idea to play Man United if they’re coming off the back of a couple of defeats as the backlash is pretty intense.... hehe 

Bring it on!

I'm 20% ahead up on my starting bankroll.

Eat your heart out Richard.

They only gave you a £1 bankroll to start with Tikay. So a 20p increase is nothing to write home about..

Although, good news- I overheard the Sky suits the other day saying something about moving you up to a £5 bankroll when you’ve proven you can play winning poker.

They’ve got their accountants standing by to make a cash transfer around October 2011.

How'd it go tonight Rich? I looked in once or twice, I got the impression everyone was on your case!

It's really not as easy as it might seem, when you are the "target".

It was pretty intense Tikay- I was down £150 after two hours on the low-stakes cash tables. Then I bust out the 101-runner Bounty Hunter in 38th when my AK re-raise was called by QK who hit a flush! Argh!

Luckily, I got my act together for the second half of the night. Hit the 50p/£1 tables along with Sky (https://www.skypoker.com/secure/poker/sky_lobby?aff=4042) Poker (https://www.skypoker.com/secure/poker/sky_lobby?aff=4042) cash legend Gerrard 9 and WSOP Main Event Top 150 finisher Will (http://www.blondepoker.com/blondepedia/blondepedia_view_player.php?player_id=2593) Brewin (http://www.blondepoker.com/blondepedia/blondepedia_view_player.php?player_id=2593) and not only clawed back the £150 and but went on to finish £60 up for the night. I understand Rupert Murdoch asked his aides for news of my profit/losses first thing this morning at his breakfast summit. And Sky shares have climbed 1.28% this morning off the back of my exploits.

See for yourself: http://newsvote.bbc.co.uk/1/shared/fds/hi/business/market_data/shares/3/23154/one_month.stm

Phew! It was a rollercoaster, but I loved every minute of it.

When you playing next? I could do with another bankroll boost  ;ifm;

Hey I think the play the presenter is more fun than other games, the chat is v entertaining

Monday night, this player sits down called Lady(from London ) and starts chatting up Orford and asking him for a signed autograph

She played quite badly and we got suspicious it might be tikay in disguise.

But Tikay came into the chat box to say hello , so we knew it was someone else.

Turns out it was Michelle Orpe playing at home, trying to get some cash out of Richard.

Then Tim Peters started chatting using the studio name" theridge",

So with all the wind ups and chat, its worth a look.

I am giving up the sausage theme, you will be glad to know,as its getting past its sell by date

Tuesday night was Norman Pace, who is v chatty and will talk about anything

Tonight, you can dance with Miss Michelle Orpe, if that is your desire. Tomorrow, too, if memory serves me correct.

And on Friday, you can dance with me. I'll be doing two Live 'phone-ins to the Show whilst PTP-ing, so everyone on the Table will get a name-check.

Wednesday night was Michelle and Richard on the last cash table, and Richard went from 100 to 180 thanks to themackem.

Gliterbabe joined the table and showed great skill, she's Gerrard9's older sister.

Michelle did not do so well, playing at home she slipped from 100 down to 85 by midnight.

The banter between Richard and Michelle made it a very entertaining hour,

enjoyed by all, especially Richard who was in gloat mode after his big win, much to Michelle's annoyance

I'm ready to rumble, in tonight's PTP.

From 7pm, I'll be playing some fun 15p 30p, & 25p 50p, Cash, then at 9pm, the £4k guaranteed (£, not $!), Bounty Hunter, for which there are already 90 registrations. After that, it's back to the Cash, until Midnight.

Oh, & don't tell Sky, but I may have misclicked, & Registered for the 8.30pm Deepstack. Only a fiver, can't be bad, for 5k chips & a 12 minute clock. I shall mainly be asleep during this.

Good Luck all.

I got well & truly battered in PTP last night, & done nearly 20% of my Bankroll in the first session. Did nothing wrong, really, it just happened.

I played the Deepstack, & got barttered in that, too.

In the £4k Bounty Hunter, bless my soul, I got battered.

I returned to the Cash action at 10.45 pm, & luckily, the Poker Gods took pity on me, & I got the lot back. Happy Days.

Tonight, you have the pleasure of Mr Norman Pace, 7pm until Midnight. Pleasure him as you wish.

Monday went well, & despite two embarrassingly early Exits, from the Deepstack, & the PTP Bounty Hunter, and a bad first session on the Cash Tables, I somehow got it back in the second Cash-Session, though I had to play until 1am to get there. An overtime chit as been submitted, but I've not had a reply yet......

On the Thursday night PTP, we hope to do something special.

If the Studio Guest exits the 5-00 early enough, he & I will play a Heads-Up Match, some of which might find it's way on to the Show.

So if you want to learn Heads-Up play the tikay way, watch it, either via Railing (nice comments welcomed......), the Live TV Show, or the Internet Stream.

Heads-Up Poker as you've rarely seen it, as I shall be dancing big-time.

Pass, Pass, quick quick Pass.

I'll be playing the Big Buck "PRIMO", (£25,000 guaranteed Prize Pool), & whoever busts me, will win a Sky Poker Home Poker Kit. If anyone busts me, that is.

There will be the fat end of 500 runners, & I reckon I'm nailed-on for a top 450 finish.

Any other suggestions for inclusion in the kit gladly considered!

I just did a Live Phone-In to the Show, & tried to blaggard Spencer that I was an ex-boxer, young & fit.

He said "yeah, right, I've just seen a 'photo of you, you are old".

Ed (http://www.blondepoker.com/blondepedia/blondepedia_view_player.php?player_id=138) Giddens (http://www.blondepoker.com/blondepedia/blondepedia_view_player.php?player_id=138) then chimed in "that photo was taken 20 years ago".

I'n gonna bust that Spencer boys arse, good & proper. He don't scare me.

The Heads-Up is later this evening. I'm ready.

PS - Flushy - HELP!

Well, judging by PM & e-Mail feedback, it made good TV, so all was not lost.

I hope we can get to do it again, it was great fun, especially knowing that the whole world - well not exactly the whole world, but at least a room-full of folks, were watching, ghoulishly, awaiting the almost inevitable faux pas. I never disappointed in that respect!

I do PTP again tonight, & I will play the Sky Poker Flagship "PRIMO", which usually has a £25,000 guarantee, & a first prize circa £6k or £7k.

Whoever busts me gets a "Sky Poker Home Kit".

Prizes don't come easier than that, eh?

The "Sky Poker Home Kit" includes, I gather, a chip set, table top, t-shirt & cards.

And it goes to whomsoever busts me in tonight's £25,000 Guaranteed PRIMO.

I'd go for it if I were you. The next "free offer" you get from Sky Poker is called "The Christmas tikay Giveaway", where you win me for a night. The Home Poker Kit sounds far better value.

The next "free offer" you get from Sky (https://www.skypoker.com/secure/poker/sky_lobby?aff=4042) Poker (https://www.skypoker.com/secure/poker/sky_lobby?aff=4042) is called "The Christmas tikay Giveaway", where you win me for a night. The Home Poker Kit sounds far better value.

I agree.

But just think of all the odd jobs you could get him to do in a night...

None! I think Tikay knows poker better than he knows one end of a screw driver from another!  :dontask:

The "Sky (https://www.skypoker.com/secure/poker/sky_lobby?aff=4042) Poker (https://www.skypoker.com/secure/poker/sky_lobby?aff=4042) Home Kit" includes, I gather, a chip set, table top, t-shirt & cards.

Last year i had a phone call from sky. You have been chosen to have a presenter come to your house to advise on playing the open, please choose between KARA or TIKAY. Before i could utter the K word, the wife grabbed the phone and said TIKAY !!!

What a good night we had and what a nice man he is.

TIKAY for a night is a worthy prize , imo

The wife is still waiting for her signed photo though !!

Thank you John!

Your wife must be 1 in a million......

That was a lovely night, over in Stoke Newington.

The "Christmas tikay Giveaway" will be on December 27th this year - you had better enter!

My very best wishes for a wonderful Xmas, & good health in 2009, to Julie, you, & of course, the Kids.
